SO good! Breakfast burritos + salsas are on point. Super friendly employees and a comfortable, shaded spot to enjoy the food!

I visited this location for my first time today. I ordered the chicken burrito with brown rice and black beans. I chose to order the burrito wet with red sauce for an additional cost. The burrito was very good. It was large and very, very full with lots of flavor. I was a little disappointed because I did not get the chips that were supposed to come with the burrito and I got home with it before I had realized. Perhaps getting the burrito wet removes the chips from the dish and that just wasn’t explained to me? The staff wasn’t friendly, but they were not rude either. Overall my experience was average food, average staff, with a fairly average cost. I’ll definitely return here when I have a quick burrito craving in the future.

OhhhMan, what a let down. I was really excited to try this place because I was hoping it could fill my current Chipotle Mexican Grill void, especially since it was«fresh» Mexican food aka Americanized Mexican Food, right? Uh, no. Location: Mid-Town Ventura, comes equipped with a small parking lot and outdoor seating. Customer Service: Not Bad. The Food: Definitely a first & last for me. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito, with no beans. After waiting 10 minutes, I received my burrito. The size is decent, but it was definitely on the smaller compared to what you get from Chipotle or any other taqueria. As soon as I bit into it, I knew in that moment I just wasted $ 6. The tortilla had a nasty buttery after taste, which was not pleasant because I tasted it after every bite I took. Blah. In this burrito I found large pieces of lettuce(not chopped), Dry Spanish rice and big slices of carne Asada– that’s it. The burrito was VERY, very dry, I attempted to add moisture and moisten it up with the mini salsas provided but that didn’t help at all. I hate to waste food, so I ended up just eating a few more pieces of the Asada and scooped out the rice from the tortilla. It took so much of me to attempt to finish this flavorless burrito– halfway through I said forget it and fed it to my dogs. At the end of day, it was my fault coming here thinking I was going to get a Chipotle style burrito. Note to self: Burritos here are dry aka«fresh and healthy»…

Just had a horrible customer service experience here. There customer loyalty rewards was not held up. «Patsy» was rude and unwilling to cooperate by redeeming a credit for me. I love the place but this is the 2nd time I’ve dealt with bad customer service. Skip J&R and go to Corrales.

Food is decent, definitely has a fresh ingredients taste, but flavor wise it always lacks and needs lots of sauce added. Prices are pretty average and affordable. My biggest complaint here is I guess because it is so «fresh» it takes seriously forever to get your food. While I was there today an order got phoned in and about 25 minutes later the couple ask about their phone order and it hadn’t even be started yet, they cancelled and went on there way disappointed. So if you stop here to eat make sure time is not an issue, because it doesn’t exist at fresh grill.

I have been a long time customer of the Fresh Grill offered by Jim and Rob, since 1997 to be exact, both in Ojai and Ventura. The latter location is on Main Street on the border of the Westside and Midtown. It’s fashioned in the walk up-order at the window food joint model. On that particular afternoon the people watching included a pack of mohawked punk rockers skating down the street, an extremely polite suburbanite dad excited about his taco order, a very energetic and chatty high school girl rambling on about teenage dating politics and other various nonchalant food eaters. They have outdoor seating that includes a deck style patio. The wait for food has never been long on my visits, but this joint is popular so a crowd can build quick. I’ve sampled several items from the J&R menu over the years, but that afternoon I was in line for a bacon breakfast burrito. The girl that was taking orders that day wasn’t overly enthusiastic yet not rude, but there wasn’t any issue with the transaction. The burrito will run you about $ 6, no chips are included but do ask for a sample of their 4 salsas — which are a mild red jalapeño, medium green serrano, spicy smokey chipotle, and a hot mango habanero. I totally dig their selection and recommend a mix of the chipotle and mango on the burro for a swift kick! Their offerings inside include eggs, diced homefries, pico de gallo and the bacon. And man I was impressed with their bacon! It was cooked to a perfect crispy consistency and was the first thing I noticed, excellent job! The lack of cheese didn’t detract from all the melding of flavors from the tasty potatoes, scrambled eggs and fresh pico. And then with the hotness of the salsa to go on top of several bites, it was breakfast burrito bliss. J&R’s present a hearty sized tortilla treat that was a pleasure to get acquainted with, so if you’re an aficionado of the breakfast burreet I highly suggest you give this one a whirl. The scale of chingon resonates a 5 out 5 rating for this creation. The restaurant displays its mission to serve quality fast food on their window and menu and I can say that it’s been consistent all the various times I’ve been there over the years. They have plenty to choose from, to switch it up on each visit, so pop on by and try it out.

Service is fast and friendly. Burritos are on point(I recommend the pollo asado) breakfast included. Homemade salsas are the reason I keep coming back. The verde offers the most balance but chipotle is probably my fave. The price is right and to top it all off, they have a loyalty program which leads to free burritos!!!

Food is OK… But don’t call in !!! They are rude, put you on hold for 15 – 20 minutes, bang pots and pans with a lot of heavy breathing. Since they don’t LISTEN… and Just say in one word ‘cniputuonhold… and then drop it on the counter you can’t even place a quick order for pickup! I was driving and finally hung up and tried again… Nope … same result… I’ll skip it. I don’t need to spend $ 9.00 plus for a hamburger and fries. not with that attitude!

Went there today ordered carne tacos and chicken tacos. With onion rings. Carne was very dry. Chicken ok. What really bothered me was the onion rings they were burnt the oil had to be black meaning hadn’t been changed or cleaned. This place needs a Heath inspection. Food is really bad. Got a little sick too

In my opinion… The best breakfast burrito I have found in Ventura(yes, including corrales). The way Jim and Robs cooks their beans far surpasses other burrito joints, and I love their breakfast potatoes! And the best part is that you can order breakfast all day! I always call in and pick up my burrito to go, and it rarely takes more than ten to fifteen minutes. However, sometimes it takes awhile for them to pick up the phone, which can slow things down.

This has been a weekly visit for me ever since moving one street over a year ago. Decent quality food, a varied menu that stands out among Mexican fast food, and most importantly a solid range of salsas. Chips are always fresh and crispy, although on the thicker side(good for the nachos!). As others have mentioned, the Ojai location(different ownership) is far superior from freshness, quality(organic items), and staff management. The biggest downside to the Ventura location is a constant fluctuating staff, who tend to be very young and definitely not stoked on customer satisfaction. Most recently, a young guy started who doesn’t answer the phone. Im not sure how management can overlook something like that, as I’m sure a lot of business is lost. One of the great things I used to love about the place is the convenience factor of picking up takeout via phone order. I would give 4 stars for food, but unfortunately management gets it a two star rating. If owners are reading this please invest a little more in your staff(and phone system). Thank you!

Had a breakfast burrito(potatoes, cheese, salsa, and guacamole) at Jim and Rob’s over the weekend. Everything was delicious and SOFRESH. The potatoes were red skin potatoes and seasoned perfectly. Can’t wait to go back again.

Jim & Robs is very close to where I live yet in the almost three years I’ve lived here I’ve been twice. I find the food mediocre at best, and lacking flavor. The prices are on the higher side for a walk up style food establishment. This is a favorite of many of my Ojai friends, so I know it must not be all bad. I got the taquitos, they were chock full of beans which I believe are homemade but lack any real flavor to wow my tastebuds. I’ve also gotten a hamburger while not bad, the price was expensive in my opinion. The location is great on a sunny day. Not the best review, but an honest one.

One of my top 5 favorite places to get a quesadilla… because let’s face it, I’m a quesadilla lover. Fills you up and is cheesy, crispy, topped with guac, sour cream and some salsa. Mmmm. Not too bad on price either

Well I was very surprised at this place… There are only 3 things a fast-food Mexican joint like this needs to be successful… Good beans, good rice and an awesome sauce and they have them all! I totally thought this place was going to like a bad version of Baja Fresh but once I bit into that burrito, I was hooked! I always test these place with the standard asada burrito challenge. And let me tell you, the asada is very tasty and doesn’t look like processed dog food like the all«famous» Corrales or Casa de Craporia: X My back to back trips only tested their burrito because I liked it so much but I figured if they got the burrito right then I’m sure they have to have other good food :) My only gripe was with the service, the girl taking orders seems like she hates her job, basically the personality of a shoe. I can put up with that as long as they keep the food taste consistency the way it is.

I’ve been eating here for a while and the quality seems to be going downhill. I ordered a simple taco salad with ground beef(one of the choices). When I arrived at work 5 minutes later and opened the container, found more of a «Taco Soup» inside. There was a pile of ground beef on top and underneath a pile of wilted salad and a puddle of fat-grease-juices. Apparently, no one took the time to drain the beef, before topping the salad with it. Small details make a huge difference! I don’t think I’ll be eating there again… Just seems to be getting progressively worse.
