Jake’s Wayback Burgers

Service sucks, waited for 30 mins for my order. To my dismay cancelled my order to go somewhere else.
The kitchen said got too busy, my question why people behind me got their orders first.
Sorry I have to give you one star. Service is «Way Back».

Very disappointed. Ordered a turkey club to go with mayo on the side and cheese fries. the turkey club came with no bacon and was packed with mayo. And the cheese fries on had a small amount of cheese sprinked on the top. unfortunately I realized this when I got home and I live out of town so I couldn’t go back to the place and complain. The turkey looks very under cooked. I’m not even going to risk eating it and getting sick.

This place did not live up to my expectations by any means. First of all, the worker told us the parties were a half lb… No they were barely a quarter lb. Secondly, they took about 15 minutes to get our food out, and my side and husband’s sides were switched. Then my grilled chicken sandwich was missing the grilled onions and pickles I asked for on my sandwich. Oh and my piece of chicken was not even large enough to be the same size as the bun, and was at best at its thickest part, ¹⁄₈ of an inch, and my sandwich bun was cold. Would I go back here again? No. It was underwhelming, to put it mildly. My husband got a milkshake and there was a good ¾ of an inch to an inch left on the top. The only redeeming thing about the experience was my husband’s patty melt was flavorful, but the bun was cold.

Way over priced. I ordered the single burger with everything on it, my patty was so small and flat that it was like sprinkled hamburger on a bun. We also ordered the full size chilly cheese fries and for $ 4.99 they were tiny. The burgers do not come with fries or a drink unless you add them on for a lot extra. Cost us $ 30 for three tiny burgers, one drink and chilly cheese fries. Won’t be back.

The only reason I give 1 star is because the shake was good. The place is dirty and the floors are sticky. The cashier is also the cook and goes back and forth. Took 20 minutes to get two burgers with only 3 other people in there. Never to return.

Overpriced and unsatisfying! Two burgers two fries and to drink $ 27? They charge $ 0.50 per ranch and it’s not even a normal restaurant it’s pretty much over priced fast food that you get to sit down for. The chili cheese fries were disgusting and the cheese melted on the cheese fries look like it had been sitting there for an hour. The chili isn’t even chili it’s pretty much mashed up vegetables with brown juices covering the fries. I was craving more of a $ 27 meal like Red Robin or hook burger but sadly we came here instead and I’m extremely disappointed… I will never come back!

I was a little reluctant to go here as it wasn’t that busy and doesn’t do that well on Unilocal.Nonetheless, I did get a burger and it was pretty good. It was fast and the service was pretty good and the burger was pretty standard fare.

Stopped in for a quick snack to split with my son after school. Ordered a kids grilled cheese meal. Took about 15 minutes even with a completely empty restaurant. Order came with what I guess is their version of a grilled cheese and no fries. The grilled cheese was 2 slices of cheese unmelted on a hamburger bun. I returned to counter to inform them I hadn’t gotten the fries. The guy informed me that the cashier must not have rung me up for the fries… which at no point did he offer fries or to even ring me up for an order. Then I said I was dissatisfied with the fact that cheese wasn’t even melted, to which he said «So do you still want it?» No option to remedy the issue. I have worked in restaurants for many years and always go out of the way to leave a customer feeling like they got what they want and needed, if I could. So I opted for a refund and left. Was a little astonished that someone could mess up a grilled cheese because it sounded really good.

I have never seen so much grease come from one burger. Way better places in the area. In n out is better and over half the cost.

Wendy’s? Oh wait… I’m at Wayback burger??? I’m confused…
This is what went through my head as my girlfriend and I sat down to our first and probably last experience at Wayback burgers here in Ventura. I don’t have anything against Wendy’s, but Wayback burger must buy their ingredients from the same wholesaler because it was all I could think of as I ate my burger, the bacon, the bun, the meat… all had that ‘Wendy’s’ flavor. The burgers were okay, but for 2 burgers as a combo… they charge an additional 3 – 4 dollars just to add fries and a drink to your combo… seems to be a bit much. I thought the combo was supposed to save you a dollar or 2? I may be mistaken.
My girlfriend said the malt was good.
All in all, I will go to Wendy’s for the same food at half the price.

Clean restaurant. Didn’t have to wait too long for burgers. Patties are thin so get a double. If In&out and Wendy’s had a kid, it would be Jakes wayback. Fresh food but expensive for what you get. I can feed 6 with $ 35 from In&out but only could feed 3 for the same price here. Onion rings were good. Next time it will be fat burger or In&out or five guys or smash burger.

Worst burgers i’ve ever had! Thinking about this places makes me wanna puke! DONT GO HERE!

Absolute WORST burger I’ve ever had. Then had to ADD fries! Cost $ 3.89 for 35 fries… Yes, I counted them. That’s 12 cents a fry. What the heck? The only good tasting thing was my chocolate malt… Or should I say my $ 3.09 half of a chocolate malt? Because it only filled HALF of the cup! NEVER going back!

First I’d like to say that I normally love cheeseburgers but way back was just bad. I came there because I had a coupon for buy one burger combo and get a burger free. What astounded me was that even after the coupon it was $ 10! I decided to let that slide so I could give Wayback a chance to prove it’s worth. It was very much lacking. The meat was bland and I could hardly taste the cheese. The problem was the burger had tons of mustard on it. It was overpowering. Even the bun was bad. It was soft and texture less. Even though my overpriced burger was lack I do commend the staff for for their cheerful and genuine attitude. They were quite cute and kind.

I can’t vouch for the food (although to be honest, it didn’t look very appetizing) because we had lunch elsewhere prior to braking for shakes here. The milkshakes were pretty good though. The Oreo Mud Pie was decent and the Cookies ‘N Cream was delish!

Love this Place! I have been here a couple of times a few years ago. Burger and Fries were delicious. Great staff and great customer service. Great place to grab a bite to eat if you are in the area.

Hmm. Either we’re really really spoiled because we have In-​n-​Outs out here, or this place got off to a really bad start but I liked my experience here today! In fact, I’m still eating because I had to review right away & give my opinion while it was fresh in my mind.
Hub & I ordered typical the burger & fries — he got the one served on sourdough. I thought the beef was (speaking of) fresh but I will say it was slightly greasy. Their beef is not frozen which is awesome & adds to the fresh taste. The bun on mine was soft yet tender & wasn’t too «doughy» like 5 guys can be. Kind of reminded me of the old Main Street Top Hat (Gasp!)
The serving of fries in my opinion were too small but they were great. Fresh, crispy & perfectly salted.
Employees friendly & smiling. Everyone dining here seems happy with their food.
I’ll be back to try some of the other options soon!

We didn’t even know this place existed. It was on our axxcess card and got BOGO. Can’t turn down a good deal. I had the wayback dog, which was very tasty. My husband had the wayback classic burger. Never had a patty so fresh!

So after driving for over an hour from L.A., my family and I decided to make a stop. Never heard of this place before and we felt like burgers… I DO NOT recommend this restaurant.
We ordered: chicken strips, chili cheese fries, a single «wayback burger,» and a «cheesy burger.»
All that was $ 20. The portions are really small and kind of pitiful looking. The burgers come with the buns, cheese, and meat. Bun was a bit soggy, and the meat was juicy but greasy. The pictures on their menu lie. No vegetables or sauce of any sort. Super plain. Not worth your money.
4 chicken strips for $ 5? Never again. Ever.

I had heard a few good things about this place and had been meaning to try it for a LONG time. Unfortunately, there’s not much to say. It seems to follow the success format: Well trained staff, check. Something Unique, burgers and shakes served in tins plus a 9 patty burger, check. Clean, well decorated establishment, check. Awesome burgers… ut oh, who forgot the awesome burgers? $@#!
In the end it just didn’t happen for me. I had a burger with jalepenos, can’t remember the name, and it wasn’t bad. The fries weren’t bad. The chocolate shake was pretty good. My daughter liked her garden salad. BUT, the total bill for two was $ 20 and the awesomeness was noticeably absent. I just couldn’t stop thinking about Hook Burger, Five Guys, In & Out, the Great Central Steak & Hoagie, Red Robin… the list could just go on.
Again, it’s not bad but not bad is the same as not great so…
