My husband walked in to get our son a haircut. The lady was very rude and gave him an attitude. She stated VERY RUDELY «oh no I’m too busy, do you have an appointment? I’m appointments ONLY»

We were driving from Orange County to Santa Barbara for the weekend, and we stopped by to get my son’s hair cut. I really wish this place was closer to home, because this is the best haircut he’s ever had. The owner was really good with him– she gave him a toy to play with to keep him distracted during the haircut, and she had a good instinct about when he would get bored and she switched out the toy before that happened. So glad we stopped by, our vacation pictures look great because of his haircut!

I could have sworn I left my review a while ago, but I’m not seeing it on this page, so I will leave it again! (reviews are known to be deleted by Unilocal for some reason.?)
Anyways, we took our son here for his 1^st haircut and the place was fun, he was entertained, and the lady was nice. We left with his hair still kind of wet and it was nap time, so I didn’t really inspect it as closely as I should have.
Once I got home, I realized that the cut was a little crooked, and not as short as I had hoped. (again, I probably should have inspected better before leaving) so I called to see if we could come back in to shorten it just a tad. I was told «yes, but it will be the price of another hair cut because you already left» Um, WHAT? it was less than 10 minutes since we left and I had to schedule another appointment to fix the first one.
I did bring him back to fix it, but it cost me another $ 20 and a tip (because I’m nice). Unfortunately, that $ 20 costed Jack N’ Jills a potential repeat customer, because I won’t be returning again-​with any of my 3 kids!
Hope the $ 20 was worth it ;)
We now take our boys to MVP instead.

Great place. I take both my boys there and always helpful and easy to get them haircuts. I would recommend to anyone that had kids with hard to cut hair because they wont sit still.

Not happy at all with the service my child and I received last month from the lady with dark curly hair that runs this salon (I believer her name was Dawna). Anybody working with children on a daily basis should be good with kids — she wasn’t! She seemed angry or uncomfortable and her attempts at conversation seemed forced. My daughter isn’t even that shy but clammed up in her presence and Dawna (?) kept drawing attention to her shyness. She made several rude comments and made both of us very uncomfortable. What an awful experience!
In the time since we’ve been there I’ve heard at least half a dozen people claiming the same type of experience with this woman (hence why I was shocked to see such positive reviews, even though there isn’t many). I will never go back.

My daughter is 17 and she’s been coming to Dawn for years and she won’t go to anyone else. Dawn always listens to what she wants and knows what she likes. Instead of talking to me, she talks to my daughter. Dawn has done her hair for special occasions like formal dances, family photos and senior pictures. We love Dawn!

i love dawn! i have been going to her for about ten years. yes, i am now an adult and still get my hair cut there. she is truly a wonderful person, very kind, caring, and understanding. she’s a bit of a hippie, earthy type and uses good, natural hair products with no fillers. i will continue to get my hair cut here, and if i ever have kids they will ONLY go to dawn.

Dawn, the owner of Jack N Jill’s is the best — Super personal, friendly and convenient. What kid wouldn’t love her? She not only offers the best in customer service — Jack N Jill now carries the best kids products — Bonsai Kids Hair Care — Shampoo — Conditioner — Detangler and Gel. I completely endorse Dawn, for all of your child’s hair needs.

Dawn is such a great hairdresser. she’s really good and gentle with my son. we were there earlier for the first time… will definitely go back soon. awesome job!

Dawn was excellent. We arrived 20 minutes early but she started my 16 month olds haircut promptly. She was very aware of his short attention span and kept his haircut short and simple. She is armed with many toys and even a little tv screen near the mirror for back up ;) I was nervous as this was his first haircut but it turned out great. Before she was done she asked if I wanted anymore off and so she took a little more hair off the front, and trimmed up his sides with no hesitation. It was quick and painless and worth every penny. We left with a lock of his hair and a first haircut certificate. I highly recommend miss dawn for children’s haircuts. She really knows what she is doing and we left without one fuss out of my little boys mouth!

My almost three year old daughter was in this week for a haircut with Dawn. The haircut was really fast, Dawn kept her engaged during the process, and my daughter had a great time playing with all the toys after her haircut. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place!

Dawn was the best eventhough we didnt have have an appt she was able to fit my daughter in and give her a great much needed haircut. My daughter was completely at ease and so was I. Totally worth the price!!!

Dawn is great with my daughter. She’s almost three and we’ve been here twice. The toys are a great distraction, Dawn is fast, and my daughter seems to have a good time. And the haircuts turn out cute too!

This was by far the best experience we’ve ever had getting my 3 year olds hair cut. Dawn was great with her and did a wonderful job on her hair. My older daughter was very jealous and wanted to get her hair done to. The level of service and calm, enjoyable experience is well worth the money. Unfortunately we don’t live here, but we will be going back every time we’re in California.

Our 2-​year-​old is a handful during haircuts. Well, two handfuls, actually. Dawn got right to work and gave him a great cut, despite his intense dislike of haircuts (exacerbated by some bad experiences previously). She’s so friendly and relaxed, and the place is adorable. She’s really committed to what she does, and it shows. You go, Dawn. We’ll be back!

I went there with my 11 month old daughter to get her 1^st haircut. Dawn was so nice and had tons of toys for Addie to play with during the cut. Dawn did a great job, even though my daughter was crying and wiggling the whole time… Addie’s hair is now cute and even. Dawn gave Addie a certificate and envelope with some of the cut baby hair for her baby book.

Yes, this place is fantastic. They are great with the kids! The entire place is like a giant toy box. I took my two boys (ages 4 and 6) and they had a great time! Both boys liked their haircuts and would go back.

Dawn does a great job on my daughter’s hair. It’s quick and easy. Lots of toys to keep her entertained in the chair and a good price too!

This is the best place to get your kids hair cut. Dawn, the owner, is SO great with the kids. For the very little ones she has simple toys they can play with in their lap while she cuts, and for the older kids a small TV they can watch Spongebob (or other appropriate show) on to help keep their heads up and minds distracted.
For siblings, there is a small air hockey table and foosball (along with toys for toddlers as well) so they don’t get bored.
I’ve taken my girls here from infancy to now (they are 10). Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that their hair always looks fabulous! Can’t speak too highly.
