Not going to lie, totally went to this place based off the name(It’s Smackin’ Good!). Nonetheless, once you get passed the fact that a restaurant actually decided to reference self pleasure in it’s title, you will find a surprisingly wonderful take-out joint that stays true to it’s Jamaican roots while giving extremely generous portions for a reasonable price. Some menu items you will find here include, Ox Tail, Cow Foot, Curry Goat, and of course various kinds of jerked meat. I ordered the Ox Tail as it was recommended by the friendly owner working the counter. In addition to the meat, plantains, string beans, and rice were also provided as part of the meal. The main entrée itself was excellent, but it was the side dishes I was most impressed with. In particular, the buttery rice was bursting with flavor and quite honestly was worthy of a meal in itself. All in all, Wee Bee Jerkin is another great addition to the myriad of hole in the wall gems on Springfield Ave. For those looking to explore outside the relative blandness of Millburn’s downtown options, this place is certainly worth a look.

Small take-out spot, but the best Caribbean food you will get in this area unless you know a Jamaican that will cook it for you. Food is flavorful, but if you eat a lot of Caribbean food, you may crave more spice than what you get here. I have not had a bad thing here & I’ve tried most of the menu.

Tasty with good customer service. The best Jamaican food available in the Maplewood/Vauxhall area.

Went for lunch — the restaurant is on the smaller side, with only a few tables available to dine in, but the food is also available for take-out. While the menu featured favorites like ox tail and jerk chicken, the owner/chef also makes curry goat and brown chicken stew. The food was flavorful, well spiced and I loved the rice and beans made with coconut milk. The plantains were cooked perfectly and the serving size was abundant… enough to share. The food temperature wise could’ve been a little warmer, but it was delicious. Will definitely be going back.

I tried this place a few weeks ago and it’s just ok, nothing to write home about. Its a small place, with maybe 2 tables so its obviously more of a take-out spot. Tje staff were pleasant but a bit slow. The first time I tried the oxtails with cabbage and plantain. The cabbage and plantain were delicious, the oxtails were good but didn’t have the Jamaican flavor I’m used to, they actually tasted more like bland, beef short ribs. They were also very greasy, like as I was eating a puddle of oil appeared. The second time I tried their chicken and beef patties, they too, were just ok. Tasted more like store bought, than homemade. The beef one was better than the chicken. The chicken had a pale color to it and was a bit mushy. They also had my favorite Ting drink.
