My husband and I decided to try them out the day before Mothers Day and to my surprise the place was empty. We had our 4yr daughter with us so we were a little happy the place wasn’t full of people and thought we can get in and out. The waitress was very pleasant and the atmosphere was very nice and I really enjoyed the music(nice playlist). The wait to receive our food was ridiculous, but I guess because the food is made when you place your order. So if you are really hungry, this may not be the best for you. I hate to see if the place was packed, I only can imagine how long the wait will be. I wanted the oxtails but the waitress advise me that they was all out! I had the brown stew red snapper with chopped steam cabbage. My husband had the stew chicken which was good too!!! They did not have a kids menu so our daughter had to eat off my husband plate. My red snapper was very favorable and nice spices. Overall I gave this place 3 stars because they didn’t have what I originally wanted and the wait was long. I would probably call in for take out next time.

Service from this place is very slow and terrible. Both at the restaurant and also delivery. We placed an order at 6:45PM via Grubhub and at 9:30PM the was no delivery. It was only after calling Grubhub for an update, we were Informed that the order was cancelled at 930PM and refunded. We never received a phone call or an update from the staff at Pimento Grill. Now our family must seek another dinner elsewhere after waiting for over 3hrs. We will never order from this place again. Buyer beware!!!

this place is horrible. it’s always closed and they never ever have beef or chicken patties… have you guys ever heard of a Jamaican spot that doesn’t have beef OR chicken patties? it’s very weird and on top of that, the food is never warm enough.

I was pretty surprised to have the restaurant call me to say that the complimentary side salad that was part of the online menu options was an error and that despite ordering over 45 $ worth of food they would not honor the 3 $ computer error. Pretty laughable given that my tip plus delivery fee was more than that. I’m absolutely shocked that their customer service operated like this. The male owner is such a gentleman and I’m sure this wouldn’t have happened were he on the premises. I was once a weekly customer, no longer!

As a native NYer, Brooklyn– Crown Heights/Flatbush raised, this spot is pretty decent. Although my Jerk Chicken was dry the oxtails we’re delicious(it could’ve been the time of night, as we came here a few minutes before closing). The staff was courteous, accommodating and polite, a nice change and breath of fresh so in Maplewood!

Yes it takes a very very long time I ALWAYS have to wait but everything is ALWAYS made to order and extremely authentic. I love the brown chicken, fried chicken, oxtails, escovitch snapper, sour sop and everything else I’ve tried. It’s the only reason I come to Maplewood. I would take off a star for the wait but it seems like enough people have been hating. The food is freaking delicious, don’t hesitate

I am forced to give 3 stars for now. When I try them again I will update my review. I went with family recently with a craving for jerk! When we got there we were told their was a problem in the kitchen and there would be no jerk that day. We were very disappointed. We stayed and had the curry chicken and oxtails, both delicious and perfectly cooked. Still wished we could have had what we went there for though. Until next time!

I paid $ 40 for snapper that was dry as a bone and brown stew chicken that wouldn’t qualify as an appetizer. The food’s better at Golden Krust. I think you get the picture.

I love this place. Walking in has that warm welcoming aura, spacious, spotless, very clean place. Staff very friendly, bringing in the. jamaican island hospitality. Food is very authentic, flavorful. The rice is cooked from real coconut not the canned ones. The oxtail was very tender and tasty. The jerk chicken is tasty. thumps up to the chef! Will be coming back and highly recommended

Ordered two hours in advance, received the food almost four hours later. Not a good impression for a company looking for caterers in the area.

This place gets one star, simply because when we arrived, whoever was responsible for working and greeting customers was in the back somewhere on a personal phone call. How do I know this… we heard her entire conversation. She never came out to even see who was there. One star because the place was very nicely decorated. There’s a loud alarm like chime, so she had to have heard our arrival. We won’t be going back, nor would I recommend this place to friends. So much for patronizing local businesses.

I had the Pimento Jerk Chicken, white rice and a salad that came with the lunch special. My beverage was the Mango Splash. Overall this place is a jewel. The ownership cares about atmosphere. Nice music was playing, which made the wait palatable. Details! The Food… The salad came out first. You can tell they care about presentation. I’m not a salad Guy but I ate most of it because it looked so fresh and appealing. The Mango Splash was refreshing, sweet but not overwhelming. Not too much ice just like I want it. And the beverage was a nice contrast to the tasty, spicy(but not too spicy!) jerk chicken. The jerk sauce was on the side which made me wonder if the chicken was going to be tasty but I was not disappointed. The chicken was flavorful. My only bone to pick was there were a lot of bones to pick! If I were at home it would have been no problem but in public I try to mind my manners. A little more meat would have made this review a 5. The Service… Ladana was sweet and very helpful. She smiled and appeared to enjoy her job. She wasn’t overwhelming. Just right! And, she remembered me when I walked in, even my name. The Price… Not bad. The drink was pricey but like the rest of the meal it was of good quality. You really can’t compare this place to other Jamaican style spots in terms of the price because the experience is at a higher level in every way. I’ll be back! JAG2
