hmmmm … got to the island early for a meeting and waited for the coffee shop to open at 7:00am as it states — but when I approached the door to purchase a coffee I was rudely told they were not open … WOW is this the way you treat customers??? sadly I will have to go without a coffee today and any future visits to this island will not include a stop here

Great place to sit and relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee or a latte. Well worth your stop while visiting Vashon.

We had taken the ferry to the island, and this was one of our stops for Valentines Day related activities. We showed up at 3:50 on Sunday, and the door was locked(9 – 4 on Sunday posted outside). Whoever was working came over to the door, locked the deadbolt and turned the open sign off in front of us, then walked away. There were clearly other customers inside, too. Now, I worked in retail and I know what it can be like before closing, but in situations like these I would at least tell the customers outside we were closing early or something. For him to make eye contact, flip the open sign off and deadbolt the door in front of us was just beyond rude. So, thanks for the warm welcome. I’ll be sure and cross this off the list of places to visit should I ever make it back.

Great coffee, great tea selection, and medicinal herbs and small selection of heathy groceries next door. Cozy and comfy and a great staff.

Aside from the exquisitely prepared Americano that draws me here, I always leave this place smiling. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the mix of people interesting. When I step through the door I feel like I have gone back in time 60 years to my grandfather’s general store in rural Canada, and that’s a good feeling.

A true classic for coffee and tea lovers. Amazing atmosphere, perfect lattes, and yummy pastries. The kind of place you could lounge in for hours and never get bored. I can see why people come from miles around for their coffee!

This is more like 3.75 review. And listen. I love coffee shops. And this place is totally adorable and reminds me of some backwoods coffee places in the north east. The espresso is okay, not wonderful, but decent enough. The barista at the espresso counter, however, was so unreasonably angry at something in the universe and she made this experience super sour. Alas, I shall return ! And I hope I can update this review for the better.

Awesome coffee shop! I come here for the best ‘adult’ hot chocolate, the friendly staff, the social/interesting atmosphere, and the delicious pastries. Their hot chocolate is not very sweet … Love the dark mellow flavor. Try the Rosemary croissant warmed up for a unique breakfast treat.

Such a cool place with obviously a really rich history. It’s kinda dark and run down looking sort of place, no fuss. I ordered the chai tea latte which was delicious, there was real bits of spices floating at the top. Kinda pricy I think and not the cleanest place for sure so four stars worthy!

This place has excellent coffee indeed! The coffee itself was so smooth and had an amazing flavor– the espresso shots were carefully pulled on a mechanical Italian style machine which produced a thick and syruppy shot… Heavenly deliciousness! As a suburban mainlander, I have to say this place looked a little odd from the outside, but just view it as a historical piece and head on in… Historical it is btw– all the way from the structure itself to the coffee roaster which was once the original Seattle’s Best. It’s all direct trade and fair trade, shade grown coffee. The people working there where so very kind and helpful! I’m quite pleased with my little day trip to the island and this place made it well worth it! I’ll be back for sure!:)

I stopped here with my mother on our way off island and headed home. She got a coffee and I got a cookie. Staff was extra friendly and upbeat and my cookie was fantastic(I got snicker doodle by the way). My mom always loves getting coffee here and stops whenever she’s visiting the island. The décor gives the place a rustic, old time feel, but cozy and inviting. If we hadn’t been on a time schedule I would have loved to sit, enjoy the atmosphere and take it all in. I will definitely return here next time I’m in Vashon.

Recently I made my first visit to the Vashon Island! I had a great day! One of my favorite establishments on the whole island that we visited was the Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie! The place has a general store kind of feel and you can walk into several rooms where they sell books, clothing, souvenirs and some groceries. In the main coffee room they sell loads of herbs and a huge assortment of teas! They have a good coffee menu and offer really unique flavorings to your coffee! I got an iced version of Rose’s Coffee with rose flavoring which was delightful! Steve got an iced mocha with lavender flavoring which was excellent! In a way I liked his drink more than mine! We were planning to have lunch elsewhere on the island but they had an impressive amount of sandwiches and salads which looked marvelous! Anyone who is planning a trip to Vashon Island I can’t recommend this place enough! It was definitely a high light on my trip here!

After two years of working on island every Wednesday I finally made time to stop at this local treasure. Great coffee(I drink it black) and tea. Having a random lady playing the accordion on the porch made my day :-)

Unique. Authentic. This place is amazing. If I lived closer I’d spend hours and hours hanging out on their porch… sipping coffee and playing guitar. This is a destination… worth a trip to Vashon Island. Bring a good book to read and people watch on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Great little spot to grab a cup of deliciously brewed coffee and snag a seat on the porch to enjoy it. When I arrived here with friends we were in dire need of a warm cup of coffee to set us on our way to Leavenworth to white water raft at an ungodly hour. The coffee was delicious, the service was friendly and the interior is adorable and charming. Definitely worth a stop. Lost a star for its minimal food options early in the am though, would have loved a nice warm pastry of some sort…

Sweet. Nice organic hippie vibe reminded me of Vermont. There is a lady in the back selling ice cream. The evil salted Carmel is one of the best ever. I wasn’t looking for ice cream as it was a coffee and pie kind of day but she gave us a sample and that was that. This is where they used to roast the beans for Seattle’s Best. Small cool place with loads of character. I just wish it was easier to get to. Just a few miles as the crow flies, but the crow can’t fly me to Vashon. Nearly worth he drive and ferry expense just for a cup of Joe.

Well worth the trip. Excellent latté. Their huge assortment of teas, spices, coffees fresh roasted on site, intrguing organic grocery and antique décor hearken of the general store of yesteryear. Just to browse here gives you a reminiscent feeling. The staff have that relaxed friendliness of island life, and the locals love to hang out here. Nice ambience, great coffee aroma, an amzing selection of loose teas, and several back rooms of organic groceries and sitting areas. Their limited selection of baked goods are always good. The staff remind me of everything that makes Vashon island nice — always willing to spend a little extra time, remake your drink if you’re unhappy. Always a spare copy of today’s paper lying around too.
