Island Home Center & Lumber combines the friendliness of a small-​town hardware store with a pretty impressive selection for their size. I’d say they’re on par with a typical McLendon’s.
I’ve gotten good advice at Island Lumber and generally have found everything I needed with just a few exceptions. I did not share another reviewer’s experience with incorrect special orders, and I have ordered many thousands of dollars worth of lumber, windows, and doors. The prices are very reasonable; you could find better prices on some items in a big box store, but then you’d have to go to a big box store and I try to do that as little as possible. And sometimes stuff is cheaper at Island Lumber.
Bonus points: Island Lumber sells beer, has free popcorn, and everyone there is always super nice to my dogs. What more is there to life?
