I LOVE Roses. This is not Roses, this is Roses Bakery, a want-to-be modern and slick restaurant. It’s not that, either. This is a sad café that took the name of a legend and, sadly disappoints. A recent stop for breakfast delivered a very stale, non-edible large cinnamon roll. Not huuge like you’d expect from a bakery with this moniker. No icing. My son doesn’t like raisins, but was just the one choice: dry, raisin sweet roll. My boyfriend wasn’t given a choice of potatoes(like it said on the menu) with his eggs Benedict. Big plate, shredded and formerly frozen hash browns, with the EB. Really? Good. Not really good. I specifically asked if the corned beef hash came from a can, it didn’t. I wash told it had deli corned beef, peppers, potatoes. I’ll forgive them for mixing up the eggs(it happens…) but, the hash was the same frozen shredded potatoes, sliced up corned beef LAYINGONTOP of the potatoes, topped with sautéed green peppers and onions. Is this deconstructed hash? Is that an oxymoron? No deli case to remind me of momma Roses original restaurant on NW23rd that I visited as a child. No gigantic cakes, big-ass kosher dills, or salads to make you want to come back every day. In fact, with the number of good restaurants on this side of town and in Camas, we won’t be back. Sad.

Stopped in for lunch with a friend, I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, it was outstanding. My friend ordered the Reuben and it had to be one of the WORST I have ever seen or tasted. The bread was dry and hard to chew, there was no flavor, no zest, just not a good sandwich, very disappointed. The fries were soggy, greasy and un-edible. Basically picked the meat out of the sandwich and left the bread on plate. Servers were prompt and attentive. Do not like the new location, terrible parking and really feel closed in. They should have stayed at the first location down the road.

Kids meals are over priced and the regular menu prices seem high for the food value. Seems like the prices match the area of town but your paying way more for what you get in my opinion. Dessert was dry, seems it was sitting in the window for too long.

Meh, the new location is a bit weird. The parking and then theyre are two doors, but not sure which one to use since, at the time, they were not labelled correct, but I just may be an idiot. Anyways, I started eating here again, well at the old(er) location that was across the parking lot from the child care place, the owner, portguese accent, maybe?! He is really nice, but at the new location, when you ordered a dinner entrée, salad or soup was included in the price however, now, same price for the entrée but the salad or soup is now extra, which is sad! I loved the matzo(matzah?!) ball and clam chowder soup. Also it seems that the portions are a bit smaller than before. But since I moved across town, I will not be eating here again.

Oh memories! When I was a little girl my parents took us to Rose’s Deli in NW Portland. They had the greatest Ruben sandwiches and huge pies of the best Chocolate cake in the world. Well this place ain’t it! The worst food in the world well maybe the worst in Vancouver Wa. lol! When I was a child Rose’s was the best place in the NW to eat the crowed were huge and the weekend lines long. I guess the original Rose’s Deli sold out and now they are a chain. A very weak chain. But remembering I was a child 0ver 40 years ago maybe you should give this place a chance. I have tried it twice and I am not impressed. Cold greasy fries, poor food selection, and service at the Vancouver location. The other locations may have better customer service and better food. Good luck!

Had an outstanding Reuben sandwich while staying at the candlewood suites nearby. It was so good I went back a second time. My coworker says the gyro sandwich is as good as it gets in the US. Very nice atmosphere. Nice selection of beers on tap. This bistro will definitely be on my list of «goto» spots while in town on business. Owner Mike gave us a piece of carrot cake to try since I asked if the establishment used to be known for its baked goods. Carrot cake was very good. The young owner is trying to give the place a new image. I don’t know what the restaurant was like before the move but it’s definitely worth a visit.

This is not the Roses I remember. Tried to order waffle on the menu. Waitress said they don’t have it. Too much trouble to make it! The Deseret menu is pitiful! I will not come come back!

Excellent pastrami, Mac and cheese. Pancakes were tasty without syrup. Loved the hot tea selection/options. Portions were generous and warmed up well later. Dessert was simple. Great tasting chocolate cheesecake. Staff was prompt and friendly.

When a business presents itself as an icon the expectation is for an extra ordinary experience. For a restaurant each dish should be one to remember. This is not true with Roses. On their Happy Hour menu the hummus plate is something you would expect to buy at 7-Eleven. The wedge salad is missing the wedge. The pastrami fries are not well mixed so instead of getting the same taste with every bite some has too much cheese and others has no sauce. Overall I would put this restaurant on the OK list, nothing great.

Was once our favorite place to stop by for that special dessert to end the night. Sadly, our recent stop at the newest location was very disappointing. Our usual slices of carrot and German chocolate cake was dry and not very flavorful. The staff was all new, and while very curtious, was much in need of training. We hope this location gets better with time. Would hate to see this NE tradition fall.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Worst service ever. There was one other table besides ours and 3 people at the bar. There were 5 or 6 servers and it took forever to get our orders taken, then we asked for an extra plate and finally had to go get it ourselves, same with extra napkins. They never came back to check on us and brought us the bill when we got up to leave. Then to add insult to injury when we tried to pay at the front, didn’t want to wait another hour to have them come take the payment, they had to hunt down the server and said we had to pay the server. We paid in cash and had to wait another 10−15mins for our server to give us our change!!! To top it off the dessert options were pathetic at best, such a disappointment, we used to love this place, but will never return!!!

Stopped by today for lunch and was 100% satisfied! We were greeted by an extremely courteous waiter! I ordered the original Reuben and was blown away. The bread was fresh and warm. The sauerkraut was outstanding. The meet was beautiful! The coleslaw was awesome. Their new location is much smaller but nice. I can’t wait to go back.

The service was very good, but the food has some room to grow. The matzo ball soup was quite salty, and the balls were way too big to enjoy. The chicken cranberry salad was good, but you can buy much better dressing at a grocery store. We are not picky and love sweets, but the rum ball was not worth eating, nor was it worth the price.

Did not eat a meal here yet, but came in for dessert. Unlike the old location, this place cut the dessert menu at least by 2⁄3 over the old locale. Not for the better. At night the parking lot is dark and TERRIBLE to park in… you walk in the place from the lot and it’s narrow and cramped and the dessert case — what little there is of it now — is right in your face. Looked into the dining area, and it looked equally cramped and crowded — which is quite a switch from the old place. Not sure why they chose to move to this location, but right off the bat I can’t see anything better, and not sure I care to come back for a meal or the now very limited, dessert assortment. :(

The restaurant is pretty inside, spacious and bright. Comfortable seating and the noise level wasn’t uncomfortable. I had the Reuben sandwich, with fries. This is a large and messy sandwich, be warned. Tasty, meat was a trifle tough but not worth complaint. Very good fries although wait staff didn’t offer a condiment — I had to ask for catsup. The place wasn’t busy but I felt that they were rushing us. Waitress took the check folder(after I had signed the charge) almost immediately, and was trying to take my plate well before I was ready to leave. I’m accustomed to a more subdued, less rushed interaction with wait staff. Last observation — I had iced tea but there was very little ice. Almost none.

So arrived today for lunch with two friends. Waitress new and extremely kind. We had a good time with her. I ordered stuffed avacado salad with tuna. Bottom line — terrible. No dressing, romaine lettuce(NOT fresh) chopped up with at least 5 – 6 cores left in salad, horrible tasting tuna and brown avacados. Interestingly enough one of kitchen staff came to our table(and others) asking how things were. I expressed, cordially, what my concerns were and asked him if cores were to be left in salad… really? He said no and offered a new salad but I had had a cup of soup(luke warm) so I was good but thanked him. Waitress stated they don’t have a dessert menu but we are welcome to ‘go look and choose’. I did, terribly expensive and one has to wonder how long dessert has been sitting in that case. .mmmmm We won’t go back. Friend’s salad(chicken) was same as mine… horrible with romaine lettuce cores.

First time i have been to a rosies. I’m thinking that this restaurant may be a 4 star restaurant normally but this was the 2nd day that they were open at this location and that may be the reasons for the cons. PROS– Great atmosphere. Nice decorations Kid friendly Nice staff Food tasted great! Cons– location. That was is kind of good and bad. In a busy part of town but the restaurant was in the corner of a business building. The restaurant itself was rather small. And I’m wondering if the restaurant used to be a medical building because in each of the bathrooms had one of those urine cup doors. Kind of strange. Wait– the worst. We easily waited 45 mins for our food. We almost walked out. Again, I’m hoping that its due to the fact that they are in a new location and still need to work out the kinks. But I’m not sure. Price– It wasn’t outrages but I just don’t feel like it was worth it. Small Portions– I didn’t expect the portions to be huge. I’m actually a light eater and actually shared a plate with one of the people I was with, but all of the portions were tiny. I think the only person who got allot of food was the child.

If you want a cake that will blow your socks off and then puts them back on fresh and clean, then buy a slice from roses. Yes it is a little pricey but cakes take time to raise it from a cub to a grown lion filled with flavor. It is amazing! There lunch and dinner food are decent. The decent foods is matched by a decent price. We had the California chicken burger and the fish and chips. The fish was okay but the chicken burger was amazing and made my tummy scream Yeah like Usher.

good old fashioned American food, the place also has its own bakery, the whole experience is pretty cool, would recommend visiting and tasting their stuff!

8÷7÷2015 First time to this restaurant. Ordered Fish and Chips. All of the food looked good, and was served hot. The fish was flavorless and contained no seasonings. Same for the cole slaw. Even the tarter sauce was so bland, I couldn’t figure out how it was made. NOFLAVOR. NOSEASONINGS. The french fries were good, but again, no seasonings, just plain french fired potatoes. My friend ordered the pastrami dip. Comments are exactly the same. No flavor, no seasoning. All the food was bland. We asked to see the desert menu. While everything on the menu looked good, the savory meal was so dissatisfying, we decided to skip desert. Additionally, the desert menu was crusty with dried food. Over all, I do not recommend this location. Perhaps another location is better. One last thing… the music was extremely annoying.

My daughter and I went there today for lunch. We both had a small house salad and ½ tuna salad sandwich(we ordered them grilled). The waiter had a hard time understanding what I meant, i.e. do you mean toasted? do you want cheese on it? etc. They were sort of lightly grilled on small slices of bread. The salad was fine but the food order time was slow. The utensils were not clean, I cleaned mine with my napkin dipped in my water glass, my daughter did not use her knife. Place needs some maintenance, a general overall cleaning, bathrooms we so so. Seems to have gone downhill since they first opened. Kind of sad.

Once again, the food is good. Somewhat pricey for what it is, but at this point the value still persists. The service is not what it should be, and it never really has been acceptable. Too slow. Way too slow. Not sure if they have a scheduling issue or just cannot hire enough people. Go for breakfast.

Wait staff was friendly and struck just the right balance on tending to us. My friend and I had an early lunch, so it was not busy. We both agreed the food was good and the portion sizes were good. However, I did find it a tad pricey when compared to like establishments. Definitely not a destination eating establishment, but if your in the area give it a try. Oh, and they do breakfast all day… always a plus in my book.

This place is getting better! I went here on my first date like 9 years ago, which was great. The place was crowded, full of life, then it went downhill after that, it was deserted, no customers. So, recently we started eating here again. Maybe there is a new management, but I have eaten here the last couple of weeks and I am pleased with the comeback and great food! :)

I really don’t have much to say about Rose’s and that is exactly the problem. Everything we had was blah. I really don’t see myself ever wasting my time coming into the place again. Our server was kind and smiley but the décor reminds me of a 1995 Perkins restaurant and the food is so bland.

Rose’s is not the same restaurant created many years ago. The key to a successful long-standing restaurant, is to always serve the highest quality foods, and maintain the best service WITHOUTFAIL!!! I too, have found the quality of their food to go downhill for the last several years. My favorite since the 1960s was the Reuben sandwich. I’ve had it no less than 50 times over my lifetime but since the opening of the 192nd Ave. location, I no longer have a favorite. They’ve killed it for me. The bakery case… No matter what I order; strawberry cake, banana cake, cheesecake, chocolate cake, an èclair, brownie, or some other type of pastry, they all taste like the refrigerator. The waitstaff are slow, without knowledge, and without a care in the world except for themselves and the cute boy or the cute girl waiting tables in another section. At this point I don’t know that I will ever return.

We had breakfast and it was pretty mediocre. I had the Chipotle polenta eggs benedict and my husband had the huevos rancheros. Both were lacking flavor and nothing special. Positives– coffee was strong and service was good.
