We had an awesome lunch. Quite reasonable in price! The manager waited on on us. During our meal, he came over to see how our lunch was. When conversing later about how we found the place, hearing and responding to our conversation and questions that he could hear from our table talk. I remarked how rare his attentiveness was. He responded to our delight ‚“God gave me ears!”

My wife and I LOVE this little place!!! It’s not a fancy place but great food at very good prices! We love it! The wate staff is very curtious take a bit to get seconds on all you can eat but hey at least it’s nice and fresh that way! The portions are generous! We have tried most everything now, been there five times! Kind of serve yourself on the tarter sauce and ketchup and sauces. Also the drinks, but we like that as you can refill as many times as you need for whatever your eating and drinking. Also if you like your French fry’s crispy they do them up right!!! Very good food, we would eat there more often but we live out in Brush Prairie, so it’s a drive, and well worth it! If you have a BIG group I think you should call ahead and give them a heads up??? grin…

It’s a great place if your looking for a simple fish and chips, the do have some tasty clam chowder though! I recommend looking for coupons because it can be kind of spendy for what you get. I have other places I travel to when looking for killer fish and chips but these guys work in a pinch! I cant complain as far as cleanliness goes, the place is always clean and the staff is pretty awesome about keeping tables cleared and checking on people, they’re super friendly!

I came for fried fish, that’s exactly what I got. Friendly staff, and the food was on point. I’ll be back through and will absolutely try the clam chowder next time!

I just read the history of Skippers and for one have frequented Skippers for many, many years, over 35 years. Randy you are an excellent owner who knows how to run a successful business. This fish company was going under many years ago and I for one appreciate you raising it up from near extinction. If you’ve never been to the Hazel Dell or Longview Skippers do yourself a favor and go for lunch or dinner. Great place, great prices, great food and a great owner! Friendly staff who greets everyone on arrival and politely says goodbye to everyone when they exit. Excellent customer service.

I grew up around these parts. a product of the 60s I am. A lot of things have changed since I was young… but not Skippers!!! Still serving delicious fish & chips & other deep fried deliciousness! The staff here is always great, the place is clean… I love it! It’s a blast from the past for me!!! The fish is perfect, but the deep fried oysters own my heart!

I’ve been a Skipper’s patron since I don’t know when. Hazel Dell is kinda far from where I lived but once in awhile we need that fix for Skipper’s so I must travel. Everything are piping hot when served and the service are nice and courteous. Good battered fish not dry, crunchy and moist, yummy chowder. Will go there all the time if within the radius of 5 miles.

Got take out with my Mom on a Friday night. Have not had Skippers in over a decade. We were impressed with the excellent service & the food was great! Mom loved the Clam Chowder, kids loved the Fish and Chips as well as the chicken. We will definitely be returning soon!

This owner is as good as they come. Ordered some clam chowder for my home away from home in Vegas and He made it happen. Great guy to deal with and a man of his word. We also have eaten here and the staff is friendly and the place is A+ in my book. Thanks again. :)

Still a pretty good alternative to the neverending burger/taco/sandwich joints that pervade Hazel Dell. We went in for lunch today and I thought we had inadvertantly wandered into the dining room at a nursing home. They must be here for the jello. I always thought Skipper’s was a pretty good place to take kids but things change, I guess. Although this place deep fries everything but the coleslaw, the food never seems greasy or oily. I never have that abiding need to run into the rest room and wash when I’m done. I often think of eating in Hazel Dell as The Death of 1,000 Chains. As chains go, this seems one of the better choices.

This is THE place to get your fill in Vancouver. Fresh fried fish(say 3 times fast) with cornmeal breading — now I don’t know for CERTAIN that it’s fresh, but it sure tastes like it. The clam chowder is a bit light on clams and doesn’t measure up to the New England version. But here’s the key — for just $ 12-$ 14 you can get ALLYOUCANEAT fish, fries, cole slaw, chowder, and if you want, shrimp or(some nights) clams. It’s barely more than a regular meal plus chowder, and then you just keep getting more to make it totally worth it. Once you order the meal, they will give you more of anything you want, as often as you want, always with a smile. Very fast, very friendly service. I chatted with both the guy behind the counter and the woman bringing food out. I would definitely return if I’m in Vancouver again.

My expectations for Skippers were very, very low. It would be accurate to say that I was dragged there by a friend who had his heart set on a nostalgia trip to a beloved restaurant of his youth, and that batter-fried fish and clams are not my thing. And yet, I actually liked Skippers, thanks to some really outstanding customer service that’s miles beyond what you’d expect from a fast food chain. I felt a little shame when we showed up a few minutes before noon on Sunday and joined the line of people waiting for the place to open. I am not the kind of person who waits outside a fast food place for it to open! Once we got in, though, we realized why: Sunday is $ 10 all-you-can-eat day, including chowder, fried clams, fried fish, french fries, and coleslaw. On Sundays, there’s really no point in ordering anything else, so that’s what we got(along with everyone else there). It’s not really set up as a buffet, so the all-you-can-eat service is kind of a hybrid. They bring you an order of everything to start, and if you want more, you go up to the counter and ask. Our server periodically checked in with us just to see if there was anything else we wanted, and actually seemed pleased when we wanted more of something. The clam chowder was really good, and the pieces of fish were large and tasty and not overly greasy. If you love their chowder, you can buy canned chowder to take with you. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained and the service was friendly and prompt. All around, a surprisingly excellent experience! Now I can see why people line up and wait for this place to open on a weekend.

It does pay to throw your business card into the drawing bowl. I recently won a free lunch. And to my surprise it was great! I had a craving for salmon but was disappointed to find they only have it seasonally. BUT they suggested the Halibut fish n chips, complete dinner and a cup of that addictive chowder. I asked for the baked potato which was good and fresh this time. I’ve been given soggy nuked potatoes in the past that tasted like rubber. I think they’ve changed for the better! I’ll be going back more often

nice place for fish and chips. Order at the counter place and they will bring it out to the table. The all you can eat fish, chicken and chips plate is the best value

Great fried food with the friendliest folks to serve it up! We had the shrimp trio and it was served fast, hot and inexpensively! Tables were regularly cleaned and everyone did their job with a smile. Really nice place, gonna come here again. More chowder please!

I think the food is a 4.0, but for what it is I rated it 5 stars. It isn’t gourmet seafood, but good uncomplicated, unsophisticated and satisfying fish stuff. The combo comes with chowder which was piping hot and pretty tasty. The fish was lighlly battered and moist. A nice touch was I was asked if I was a veteran. This results is a 10 percent discount and a nice«thank you for your service.»

W side of NE Hwy 99 just N of NE Minnehaha St. The food here is really like a 3.25, but it is the total experience(including value) that makes me such a fan of this place. Sometimes I get a strong craving for Fish n Chips… not that often, but sometimes and I love that I can always come here and not be disappointed. Both the food and the service here have been consistently good! All this wrapped in a nice clean environment has me practically jumping for joy. This place puts coupons in the local papers as a constant reminder they’re there, but they don’t need to remind me about that«AYCE» Fish n Chip or Fish, Chicken, & Chip deal they have! I’m a fan. Nothing comes out greasy and the fried items are expertly fried. My only gripe and it is a very minor one is that I wish that they offered a larger variety of sauces for their chicken! The people working here manage to keep the place spotless and clean it up as if they were ninjas doing it modestly, quietly, and with cordiality to their guests! There is plenty of parking in their dedicated lot. I wish we had a spot like this where I’m from!
