Elegance

I moved to the Portland /​Vancouver area last summer and immediately started looking for a good spot for Chinese-​style massage. I’m a long-​time believer in massage as a key ingredient to maintaining and improving physical health.
After getting middling results from six different places in both cities I accidentally happened upon Elegance one evening in October — and my search was finally over. I’ve been coming here about every other week since that time and I feel great! Angel is the manager and the primary massage therapist — and she is EXCELLENT. I’ve travelled fairly extensively in Asia, and to a lesser degree Scandanavia — and over time I’ve become kind of a massage junkie. Angel is seriously one of the best therapists that I’ve ever experienced anywhere. She’s quite tiny but very strong and has taken care of some major knots that I was carrying around neck, back, and shoulders. Other times I’ve had pains in my knee or ankle and she’ll focus on that problem area with terrific results. Even when I don’t give her any specific instruction she seems to be able to sort of feel where the trouble spots are and pay them special attention. I’m really really happy that I found this place!
The other therapists are also great. Sunny is really strong if you need deep tissue work and Lily is very gentle if you prefer a lighter touch. Cherie was also quite good but I don’t think she works there anymore. There are a couple more ladies in the rotation but I haven’t tried them out yet.
A 60-​minute massage costs $ 60 and I usually tip $ 10. They accept both cash and credit cards here though I have always paid in cash. Unlike many of the massage places around, they aren’t always after you for bigger and bigger tips — in fact they seem very appreciative. They also offer authentic Chinese foot massage with a hot herbal soak which is awesome for detoxification. They have a table shower too but I usually opt out of this as I’d rather spend my last few minutes on the massage table.
This is fully nude massage and totally professional. I’ve been discretely covered 100% of the time — even when changing positions from face down to face up. The rooms are simple but nicely appointed and there is usually relaxing Chinese music wafting down the main corridor.
The location is a little bit hidden — the shop is located in the Safeway shopping center on the corner of 28^th and 112^th — kind of behind Muchas Gracias Mexican restaurant. They could use some better signage on the storefront but it’s not that tricky to find — and once you do find it you’ll be glad you did.

Do not go here as they don’t take cards and wont tell you until the end. Then you’ll need to go to the atm outside to take money out with a $ 3 charge. Not the beat massage you can pay for. Go to the one on mill plain. The lady at elegance massage talked with another lady the whole time she massaged me and the other lady was watching something on her phone right next to be me with it up loud. Needless to say shoulder hurts the next day. I have a lot of tension in my upper back. Wont beer go here again.
