They put tartar sauce on my fish taco. This place specializes in seafood. Should they not have used Crema Mexicana? Great chips & fresh salsa. Fast service, easy parking. Large place. Server did not speak English. So basically point at the item and it comes to you.

Nothing special. Horrible service, slow, we had 5 people serving us and they hardly checked in. Hot mess.

I love hidden-gem-dive-hole-in-the-wall joints found in strip malls. I really do. But this place is not one of them. I was starving and so thirsty when I arrived today after having no lunch and a 2.5 hour, continuous bike ride. It shouldn’t have taken much to make me happy. However: — they serve three salsas, all of which are watery and flavorless(I added Tapatio to give them some kind of flavor) — the cup of «soup» served with the entrée is nothing more than pasta shells boiled with tomato — no seasoning of any kind and tastes like tomato water(I did not eat it after just trying the broth) — the chicken fajitas were the most pitiful, bland, awful fajitas I think I’ve had to date(seriously, no seasoning or marinade, not even a sprinkling of salt on them! — just oil); the rice and beans nothing special; the guacamole was mushy and looked like baby food(I shudder at what might have been filler) Look, I realize their«specialty» is seafood, but if you own a Mexican restaurant that serves crappy salsa, soup and fajitas, there is no way you can convince me that it was my error in not ordering the right thing. Nope — not that gullible. Service was just perfunctory, nothing more. Every single one of those ladies(all female servers) was as pretty as she could be… but you’d think it was just killing them to smile! I took ¾ of my food home in a box and then dumped it in the trash on the way from my car to my door. I’d had enough and changed my mind on trying to salvage it for another meal tomorrow. Bummer.

Great Asada tacos that Coles with guacamole. The 3 salsas they give are great with the free chips, goes well with a michelada

I love their tostadas, so good. It’s one of the top spots in the valley for them. Delicious and properly priced.

Very chill place that has very good food and the servers are real, not pretentious. Which makes me like them even more. There’s plenty of times in life when you find yourself working to get by, to make money and it may not be what you ideally want to do. You can either go negative or make the best of it. Not everyone is an actress, model or wannabe. But we all aspire to something greater for us or our children. The staff was professional and I hope whatever their«status» now, that they achieve their dreams. That said, the food is cray cray good. Drop anchor here and feel some happy people.

With very fresh oysters and seafood, so far this is the best mariscos restaurant we have found in the Valley. The micheladas are also very good. Ample parking and good service.

Ordered a burrito, asked for spicy. What a got was a very good burrito, but it was not spicy like I asked. Above else, it was fantastic. Great mix of homemade salsas, and they use high quality steak for their burritos, not the crap quality you get elsewhere. I’m intrigued by the variety of homemade soups, and will be ordering that next time. The price would be the only drawback as it’s gonna cost you around 15 dollars

By far one of the best and friendliest Mexican seafood places on Los Angeles. Tucked away in a little strip mall in Van Niuys/North Hollywood, Mariscos Vallarta is the bomb! Some of the best and freshest seafood in town. The staff is beyond friendly and the place is clean and simply welcoming. I have become a fan and in upset that in the 17 years I’ve lived in the area, I had never noticed it. If you like good Mexican food, namely seafood, this is your place. Mexican breakfasts are amazing too: Huevos Mexicanos and their Chilaquiles, to die for!

Great place! Delicious plates! I’ve tried a few plates now and they have a great amount of food. You get more than what you pay for. Friendly service, very clean, HD Tv’s, and feels very relaxing. I recommend the shrimp tostadas! They are delicious!

Why am I barely trying Mariscos Vallartas now?! The food here is full of delicious flavors. The parking can be a pain and limited in the plaza but there’s residential parking in the surrounding area. Once we got seated, we got three different types of salsas with chips. Then after we ordered a small cup of soup came out. The soup reminded me of a Mexican chef boyardee type of soup. I liked. If you like ceviche like myself, order the fish tostada de ceviche. You’ll thank me later. It’s fresh and the tostada itself stays crunchy even though it’s drenched in lime. Yum. The coctel super mixta isn’t prepped the usual way where they cook it first but this one is cooked with purely lime juice only. If you like spicy seafood, this is for you. It’s really spicy thanks to the jalapeños but it’s tasty and make sure you have a drink close by. The lengua tacos were superb. The homemade tortillas with the slap of guacamole complimented the lengua. The hortchata and jamaica was good too.

I came here for a late breakfast with a group of 10 after a long night out. We all wanted some great mariscos but we’re not familiar with the area. We took our chances on Unilocal and came across this place and decided to try it. Wow were we impressed! The food was beyond our expectations. The micheladas tasted amazing and all 10 of us were so satisfied with our food, so fresh tasting! We all got something different. I had the cocktail super mixto, some others got regular shrimp cocktail, shrimp Diablo, shrimp burrito, carne asada fries, etc. The prices weren’t bad for fresh seafood. I’d say on average $ 10+ per plate depending on the dish. Besides the food being great the service was just beyond. I wish I had remembered the waitress name because she was extremely nice and accommodating. She put all of us on separate checks, had a smile on her face the whole time, and was constantly checking on us. We all left 50% tips. We came to this restaurant October 2014 and it is now February 2015 and we all still talk about how great this place was and can’t wait to go back!

I came here for the first time on a non busy day. The servers were very nice and attentive to our needs. The chips and salsa were okay although not as savory as I imagined. I ordered a coctel de camaron thinking that I couldn’t go wrong… a place that serves mariscos should have this item down! Instead I received a sweet version of a traditional coctel. The«soup» should mainly consist of the water the shrimp was cooked in not ketchup water. The shrimp however was plentiful so I can’t complain about that. I had to add a lot of salt and tapatio to counter the sweetness. Next time, I would much rather go to another mariscos place instead of going to a super market owned mariscos restaurant.

Don’t judge this not-so-fancy stripmall joint– it serves THE Best Mexican seafood — Mariscos — in the Valley. Some highlights include the: 1) Coctel Super Mixto is a huge serving of abalone, octopus, shrimp and scallops cooked via marination in lime juice but flavored with aguachile which makes it different than ceviche. 2) Caldo Vallarta is a simple fish soup flavored with arbol chiles for a taste unlike other soups. But yes they have a good Siete Mares. 3) Pescado de Pil Pil is a whole red snapper fried in herbs and chiles served with sides. Also they serve small cups of sopita-soup– with entrees with chips and salsa-chiles. Although food is prepared to order(as all seafood should be) it doesn’t take too long. Wait staff are all women, friendly and attentive but not in a rush. You can order in English if you’re Spanish lacks. If you feel like a burrito, go to Taco Bell. P. S. The prices are fantastic for the quality of fish and this place has an A food rating– I pay attention to cleanliness. PPS You can view soccer, Lakers and Dodgers games on the big screens.

Another little spot in the Valley that serves good Mexican food and Seafood. I was greeted right away with a pleasant smile. As I’m sitting in the booth I’m watching an employee make homemade Tortillas and she asks me would you like to try one and I said yes. The service was very pleasant, must of all the servers worked together as one. That’s so important to today’s standards. A plus. Our server was very attentive throughout my visit and then some. This location has been here since 1985. I had asked our server if the Manager was here and she said no. So the employees here can run this location without a manager present, again very good. A plus. All the employees here to the servers and the kitchen staff Great Job. What a Surprise and a pleasant one. I really felt like I was at home, that’s what our dining experience should always be like, So attentive. The appearance of all the servers uniforms where clean and their hair restrained back. The food was great also, and served with chips and salsa with 3 different types of salsa. Great Job. I also forgot to mention that their soup is Delicious.

The food feels like leftovers reheated(disclaimer: it feels like that, I don’t know if it is actually reheated). I WOULDNOTORDERMOLCOJOTES! They were not the ones that come out hot and sizzling, plus there’s not enough food in them, but priced same as other places. We had some margaritas that the waiter confirmed are already prepared(when I asked the type of tequila); they felt lacking tequila for sure. I felt the food amount and the quality is NOT worth the prices. They shld consider visiting other restaurants to do research.
