First off, take note of the hours that this library is open. You may even want to call before you come to make sure they’re open. They have some pretty funky hours. When they do open, you’ll find a line of people waiting to get it. Don’t let the name fool you. This isn’t much of as law library. It’s more like a public library with some legal reference books. They’ve got legal practice guides, California annotated statutes, and some legal treatises. But you’re not going to find any case books or any Federal material. However, they have Westlaw available online at their computer stations. In all, you can get some basic legal research done, but nothing too esoteric. Besides the legal stuff, it’s a regular library with books, a children’s section, and DVD rentals. All you need is a free LA County Library Card to use the computers or check out a book or DVD. Don’t expect to sit at a table by yourself; you’re going to be sitting next to someone else. The good thing is that there doesn’t seem to be any bums with their backpacks at this library who are just trying to get off the street; you know what I’m talking about. Everyone here seems to be reading or looking up something. This library is about as noisy as a coffee shop with all the people asking the librarian questions. Big bonus that they’ve got free wifi.
