My family and I were planning a surprise 50th birthday for my uncle, Daniel. We are from Miami and the party took place in Tampa. Of course, we wanted the cake to be amazing. We had an idea of mine of doing a cake in the shape of a beer mug. We called a couple of bakeries to get an estimate in price. The prices were a long the same lines but what really sold us was the customer service Magan offered. From the first phone call to the pickup of the cake, everything was amazing. When we picked up the cake we were shocked at how beautiful it was and the attention to detail given. The cake tasted phenomenal. Being that were from Miami and never got to see the cake or taste any of their bakery items, we were anxious to know how it would taste. Everything on the cake was perfect. The flavors we chose were chocolate and vanilla. I highly recommend them for any event or occasion! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you to all the staff at Madelyn’s bakery!

My daughter is obsessed with the Beast from Beauty and the Beast and wanted a cake that wasn’t too kid’sh for her 13th birthday. We came in with this crazy idea and Megan not only brought it to life, but exceeded our imagination! This is the first cake ever, that I didn’t want to cut into… but man, I was glad we did. It was not only beautiful, but tasted oh so good! Will definitely be back for any cake we need!

I absolutely love their napoleons, macarons, and turnovers. They don’t have the napoleons very often, but I have to buy a couple of them every time I see them. The owners make it just the way I like it(European style) layered with the pastry cream and the white glaze(or powdered sugar) on top. They really know how to make it. The pastry layers are light & flaky. Just the way they should be. I know they have done variations with strawberries(to make them sweeter), but I like the classic way of doing it. The turnovers are also very good(especially the guava ones). These pastries have more guava filling than most. The guava also tastes more natural than others I’ve had in the past. My most recent obsession are the French macarons. They are fantastic, and affordable. I bought a dozen in various flavors for about $ 14.00. That’s super reasonable for macarons. My favorites so far are the raspberry, pistachio, and vanilla bean. I will continue to support this veteran owned bakery. The owners retired from the military after being stationed at MacDill AFB(just like we did). As a military wife, I applaud both of them for owning their own business and doing what they love to do(Baking). They deserve an extra star just for that.

Not a fan. Any bakery should smell like fresh baked goods upon entering. This one did not. It smelled funky. It didn’t look as though it got paid much attention to in the way of cleaning. It didn’t have much going on in the way of attractiveness. Nothing to see here. Upon entering, you are somewhat forced to look squarely in front of you at a woman with pink hair. She looks at you and doesn’t say hello, just stares. You say hello to her. She looked as though personal hygiene was not at the top of her list of necessities. I would never have thought she owned a business, had I’d ever met or seen her outside the Petite Madelyn’s Bakery. I learned she was Megan, the owner of the bakery. Weird vibes were felt by me, with Megan giving us the once over and just… a dull, uninterested look. I saw no pep in her eyes, no particularly outgoing personality, no friendliness whatsoever. Just a look that said *New customer, ugh*. We approached the counter with Megan standing there. The counter had only about 6 different cupcakes in the case(and only a couple left of each), assorted pastries, tiny pricey(messy) macaroons, and little else but a few cookie cutters. We arrived at 3 pm and the shop was supposedly open until 7 pm. I thought their selection was sparse, considering there were 4 hours left to go in the day. We came in for a cupcake treat and there were only a few. I chose the pure vanilla cupcake with white icing since all the other cupcake’s frosting had been colored with way too much food coloring. The excessive blue and green colors of frosting were very unappealing to me. The darkly colored frosting reminded me of a Rainbow Bright doll, so gaudy. Both were $ 2.50, the going rate for cupcakes in this area. Usually though, for $ 2.50, you will get a more decorated cupcake. These ones were over-priced, considering they were just cupcakes with frosting and had little other effort to them, other than«jimmies» on one, and tasteless caramel(?) drizzle on top of the other. The vanilla cupcake was okay, nothing special. It was the safest choice. The salted caramel had an odd flavor; not sure what it was, but it did not resemble caramel in any way. It was not a good tasting cake. The frosting on both cupcakes didn’t have any particular flavor from cupcake-to-cupcake, just the same flavor of plain buttercream. The other things we ordered were a Guava/cheese pastry and a tiny Cheesecake in a muffin cup(way overpriced). I’d never had guava before so I asked about the flavor. Megan described the taste of guava as *What dirty feet would smell like, BUT the pulp is tasty*! WHY? WHYWOULDYOUSAYTHAT? I thought to myself that they CAN’T be THAT bad, and the puff pastry looked good, so I made the mistake of buying it just to try guava. But the seed was already planted, and that didn’t work out well. Ugh… My BFF got a cheesecake concoction that was even worse-tasting, that she said had a bad aftertaste. Both pastries went in the garbage. I also asked Megan about buying a French baguette. I wanted that for later, to make paninis for dinner. When Megan said she was out already, I got the impression Megan never made any that day. Also, the chalkboard sign did say, «Special Order» on breads. I asked if baguettes were a special order and she said they were not. I also saw a sign that said something about coffee and lattes being available. I then asked Megan if she had coffee too. She said yes… but didn’t offer a menu or tell me what types she had. And at this point, we didn’t want any, so the subject was dropped. My BFF told me later she did notice that Megan had a coffee set up, though. Apparently, there was an outdated Bunn coffee pot, which I did not notice while I was there. Kind of conflicting info all around. We paid, and then were rushed out the door, without a thank you or a good-bye, and with Megan just downright unconcerned whether or not we’d be back. No worries, we won’t be back.

The best retired military business I have ever visited. It doesn’t matter what kind of cake, bread or sweet treat you need all you have to do is ask for it and owners Dennis and Meagan will do their best to fulfill your request. The fact that they are a retired military owners only makes their variety that much bigger. They have traveled the world and sampled many different countries sweets. Their dinner parties are still talked about in Europe. I personally have sampled most of their sweets and you can’t find that taste anywhere else. Fresh bread smells like Subway but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. They are now serving the very popular coconut water that all stores are having trouble keeping stock. Even their cappuccino blows Starbucks out of the water. Stop in today and in your new sweet spot. Or come in on Tuesdays for $ 1.00 cupcake day.

Had my sister’s birthday cake made at Petite Sweet Madelyn’s. It was a special order sock monkey cake and it was amazing. Not only adorable but delicious.

I found lots of flavors, the Pina Colada tastes JUST like it! We tried 6(trust me I had a bite of each) Peanut butter chocolate, Pina Colada, vanilla chocolate icing, vanilla regular icing, cookies and cream and guava. Found the customer service outstanding, the prices are good(especially when comparing to other shops). Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely go back :)

It saddens me that Petite Madelyn’s only has 4 stars, I’d give this bakery and Megan(the owner) 10 if I could! I went with Madelyn’s for the dessert table at our wedding, I had visited roughly 5 other bakeries and they failed in comparison. You can tell she uses fresh ingredients and makes quality products! Not to mention she’s as sweet as her shop… and from California like me! We went with a single layer top tier cake for our cutting cake-strawberries and champagne, our cupcakes were carrot, purple funfetti, coconut(I think??) and chocolate. We also had macaroons, mini fruit tarts, mini cheese cakes, and cannoli’s. Everyone raved about the carrot cupcakes and the canolli’s but everything was truly great. For a reasonable price she does delivery and set up as well. She’s amazing! Please, please give her all of your cupcake and surgery needs business!

I saw this location by chance and stopped in here on the way to Sweetie Delights a week ago. The shop is small but decorated very nicely and with so much pink. I love cupcakes so I thought I would get a few, but they didn’t have many flavors and the ones they had didn’t grab my attention. The cupcake was okay but not spectacular the icing was really good but that should compliment the cupcake. I will return because it was the end of the day and they have other items that I would like to try

Petite Madelyn’s Bakery makes some awesome, tasty, to die for, delicious, and absolutely wonderful deserts. No, this is not your ordinary bakery. They are worth the drive if you don’t live in the area and the deserts are worth every penny that you pay! Please don’t take my word for it but please go and try them for yourself. You will be surprised with their attention to detail. They are also veteran owned and operated which mean a lot to me! Great job! Dwayne Lewis
