I’m not exactly sure why I love this divey little market with a taqueria in the back so much, but I find it charming and reliable. The market is not huge but stocks the essentials. The meat market is quite decent with a good variety of fresh cuts of meat, marinated and unmarinated. Prices are not bad either. Then there is the taqueria where locals and regulars dine. Burritos are popular, but I always get the carnitas or carne asada sopes, tostada and/or taco. The meats have excellent flavor and I love the mini self-serve salsa bar with green and red salsa, pico de gallo and pickled carrots/onions and jalapenos(real spicy). If you dine in, you get a basket of warm, homemade chips. They’re good too, but try not to get too full on them and save room for the main event. There is also a bakery section at the front of the store, so on your way out, you may want to pick up a few Mexican pastries, breads and/or cookies to go. All of their food items are reasonably priced along with friendly and attentive service.

The market is good(though they need to carve the fat off their meats more), and stocked up on a few things you need to make just about any mexican dish. The eatery in the back is helpful if you’re in a pinch and want to get something to go and groceries for later, but there are better mexican places in Vallejo. Great for convenience though, especially when coming home from work. Take advantage of it. :)

Perhaps I came on the wrong day. I ordered four carne asada tacos and the meat tasted like it’s been sitting there for the whole day. Completely disappointed. Maybe I should’ve ordered whatever they were grilling outside. That meat looks more fresh than what I had. meh.

Our family has shopped here for a long time and I’m actually pretty disappointed tonight. My father went and bought 3lbs of al pastor taco meat paid almost $ 18 bucks and literally got nothing but lard looks like Mexican beans if i had a option for zero stars I would put it. Not even worth the gas to drive back and complain. So I’m doing it through this instead.

I ordered a beef super burrito. It was REALLY good. There was a lot of flavor packed into it. For only $ 7~ the horchata was yummy ! It doesn’t have a powerful cinnamon taste, but it’s sweet. $ 3 for a LARGE cup.

This store is amazing. They have rancheritos and churrumais from Mexico. Their meat selection is great as well. This is my regular spot for grocery shopping every week. They just need to improve their image at the entrance, people selling hats does not provide a good image.

Just a brief summary, I LOVE mexican food and especially Burritos! I remember coming here after school with my friends and i was scared and paranoid because this place is in the ghetto. We head over to the back where they sell food and they give you gives and salsa when purchasing food. Once I ate the burrito, I was just having a mouth orgasm! The meat was tender and we’ll marinated!

The food is great but the service sucks. The guys that work here seem to think they are the MAN? they talk to customers like we owe them for being there. when you ask to buy a pound of meat it seems like sometimes its a lot and others its not so when i order the pound or two I asked to see the meat first and that seemed to be a problem. The food is great but don’t plan on getting a smile out of any of them.

Review is for taqueria in the back. Don’t let the façade deter you, just walk past the guys outside selling bootleg DVDs, hats, or whatever it is that day, walk inside and head straight to the back. Decently priced burritos, the chicken burrito is tasty and usually has more meat than the other burritos I’ve ordered. If i’m not extremely hungry one burrito is good for me and my wife.

When I am in town this is my spot to cash a check. Yes they do check cashing and money orders as well. The meat market has tons of options. Pre-marinated chicken or Asada which when you are short on time can come in really handy to whip up a mean dinner. I’ve also shopped here for groceries before but would not be my number one choice as the prices aren’t very competitive. Customer service for me here has always been great, and I’ve been coming here now for at least 10 years. They are quick and efficient at what they do.

Never disappointed with the restaurant. Food is delish. I ordered a tray of asada nachos for my work potluck and they were a hit. They pile everything on. This is my go to potluck dish.

This is about cashing my check. No I haven’t ate here or anything like that but I have cashed my checks here twice before. But I guess this time was stupid and a waste of my time I give the guy my check ill just give the direct dialogue given. H: Your cashing this check M: Yea H: Why M: Uh what? H: It’s over 2 weeks old why wait M: because I haven’t got the time to do it and it was last on my priority list (Hence my transaction was only 27.05) H: Why? You still work there M: Ya H: What is it where do you work? M: It’s fine *grabbed my check and bounced (It was longer then this but just am giving the basics) My privacy is my privacy. If the check is authentic why ask me so much damn questions especially on where I work. It’s only 25.00 that’s including the transaction fee. The guy was rude treating me like I was trying to be sneaky and that it was fake. Why would I even waste my time to even get caught for 25 $ check. Why do you need to ask me rudely and personal questions. It has my name, address, and deposit number on there. Well all in all I guess you can’t cash in checks from 2 weeks ago unless you need to explain your whole life and money story to the guy. My other experiences were totally fine but this one was just plain rude and unprofessional. Bye Felicia.

Searching for an authentic milanesa torta, I was recommended to try La Tapatia in Vallejo. La Tapatia is a small Mexican mercado with a Mexican fast food counter in the back. I ordered the milanesa torta with no onions or tomatoes. After waiting about 20 minutes, I got my torta but it had everything on it. I don’t mind picking stuff out of my food but there’s a reason why you order without certain ingredients. I hate when my order is messed up. They offered to remake my sandwich but when I got it back, it still had bits of onions in it… again! Whatever, I picked them off and tried to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the problems continued with the meat. It was very tough. Almost like soft jerky. I didn’t even finish my sandwich. I won’t be back. My search continues. Parking is easy in their lot.

My boyfriend always comes here to cash his checks(everyone is so friendly to him & their customer’s) you can also pay your PG&E, get a money order and i believe your cable bill. the marinated carne asada is sooo delicious, my family usually cuts them up into small pieces and make taco’s they have the mexican Popsicles 2/$ 1(rice/arroz is DELICIOUS) the bbq ribs that are bbq’d outside are good. $ 5 for a good amount.(i belive 1lb) the lady vendor outside with the corn on the cobb(with mayo, chile & cheese) are so good! she hooks you up. $ 2.

this place was another random discovery in vallejo. I’ve only had their burritos and tortas and I thought both were really good. there are a lot of taco trucks in vallejo, but I think la tapatia’s to-go food was better and also cheaper. their marinated meats are also good to buy: D

All cities in CA with a substantial latino community must have a go-to market to get all their latin-american needs. La Tapatia Market takes that role for Vallejo, Ca. Not much to say, but good things about this place. Great selections of fresh meats and produce. A wide array of latin american spices and foods. Their sweet bread(Pan Dulce) selection is «meh» and could be better. Overall it is a great little shop that has attracted not just latinos in Vallejo but the entire community.
