My wife and I came here for the breakfast buffet for $ 8.99. This was our second time eating here. The first time, it was good. The fish were cooked just right and the Tocino was not very oily. This second visit was different. Some of the fish was was not cooked well and the Tocino was sitting in oil. We had to pick out the pieces on top with less oil. I guess it’s typical filipino cooking. We had a little of everything but we couldn’t go back for seconds. Also, they used to have brewed coffee. Now, they have NesCafe packets that you prepare yourself. Their staff, however, was nice. It maybe a while before we come back here. We’ll have to hear from other folks if they’ve change. Parking is no problem. It’s a big parking lot.

This place is really tasty but it is more on the expensive side… be aware of that. If only the prices were lower for the portioms you get, I would be coming back multiple times in the week!

My once a month flip fix. They offer an all you can eat breakfast that makes me drive to v town early in the morning and it’s a perfect spot to meet up with my peeps and have an early bird talk fest.

Came here and bought desserts for my niece. They were delicious. The foods are expensive though. That’s the downside. I also bought halo halo. I didn’t like the fact that it was frozen. They just give it to you straight up with a friendly face without even noticing. I can’t complain lol. But I’d rate it a 3 – 4 since the foods are very tasty. Too expensive though if you com pare it to the other filipino cuisine. I wouldn’t want to buy halo halo here though, but if they change that so it’s freshly made then I’d definitely come by again. I love the red ribbon halo halo and if you like ube halo halo get it at chowking!

This review is strictly for the halo-halo! I only went here while my family was in town because my uncle’s friend’s daughter works here, lol. When we got here, they had a big flat screen playing Filipino novelas. They had a ton of seating, it was a little past lunch time so it wasn’t too poppin’ We were mobbin’ deep so we filled two of their biggest tables & we all ordered halo-halos. They ran out of ube ice cream so they gave us a different option of mango ice cream. They made it pretty quick, considering the aunties & uncles at the other table ordered actual food. The halo-halo was good, can’t say anything bad about it :)

Good friendly crew, their street food are better than their nearby rival or the one in Sonoma Boulevard the dipping sauce has more flavor and willing to replace your order if you are not happy, they have great halo halo the food are good. though they need more consistency, the Silvanas are way better than Sanz rival, the place clean but a little smaller during the busy hours the price is okay.

Ordered 10 desserts, including the wedding cake, from them PLUS a lechon for my wedding recently. It was a wedding of over 150 guests and majority being middle aged Filipinos. Yes, my now husband and I were nervous as we wanted our titas and titos to be very satisfied. ANDCABALENDELIVERED!!! The following was our order for $ 1,000 and feeding 150+ guests. — Lechon — They were willing to abide by the venue rules and cut up the lechon already. Also, they delivered at 4pm and the reception was not until 6pm… and the skin was still crispy! Heads up that they do not have lechon in the restaurant for you to try but the rest of their food was so good and they had such a great reputation that we took a chance and we were glad that we did! — Sapin-sapin — Turon — Bibinkoy — Cassava — Leche flan — Sans rival — Coffee crunch cake — Mango cake — Mocha cake — Ube cake/wedding cake — 2 ube cakes on top of each other to become the wedding cake and then just a simple buttercream design around. Total cost was $ 70. Breakdown of that was 2×8 inch round ube cakes for $ 18 each + $ 34 for a cake topper stand and buttercream around. No other decorations so to me, $ 34 for just the cake topper stand and buttercream around was not worth it. They could have just charged me for the extra cake topper stand but I think they hard ‘wedding’ cake and upped the charge. But eh, I won’t argue that extra charge. I think the cassava, turon, and some of the cakes(mind you that we ordered the gigantic ½ sheets) were left but everything else was cleaned! The lechon especially! Customer service was AMAZING. I worked with Jen for about 30 minutes on the order and how the wedding cake should look like. She was very patient with me. I also observed the amazing care they took to their other customers while I was talking to Jen. Overall, for catering needs or even a sweet tooth craving, go support this local establishment. # Catering Wedding Customer Service AWESOME Desserts Lechon GREAT

This is a filipino place where if you want filipino grub, youre gonna get it. I recommend ordering from the steam trays. Not from the trays not on steam trays. They got tiny macaroons for 1.25 too. Kinda cool since macaroons i think havent blown up culturally yet in Cali. Price is very affordable. Taste would be a solid 4 atars for filipino food. The only better ive had was in the philippines and my house. Its equal tasting to the island pacific next door. Eat well. Im OAT.

Okay don’t laugh. I am not versed in Tagalog nor do I read Unilocal reviews very carefully. Was craving Filipino breakfast(specifically longsilog) and wanted to try Cabalen in Vallejo. I knew this location was a full on bakeshop and restaurant. As I entered with my hubby, noticed they had a buffet going on but didn’t feel like over stuffing myself with a load of Filipino food. I was focused on only getting longsilog. I ordered hubby the buffet(for $ 7.99, AYCE) and I ordered the longsilog. As I was telling the order to the cashier, she seemed confused. She proceeds to hand me a to go box and I told her no I’m ordering buffet for my hubby and I wanted to order longsilog. The cashier looks at me, and was like«ok you got it». She goes to the buffet and puts Longonisa, garlic fried rice and egg scramble with tomatoes and onions in the to go box. From then on I figured out they don’t do individual orders LOL. My husband got a kick out of the scenario. Anyways, my longsilog craving was taken care of although I was hoping for a over med fried egg with my breakfast. The lady filled my to go box pretty well and was only able to eat half of what she put in there. Hubby took advantage of my to go box and started filling it with bistek, more garlic rice, longonisa and whatever they were serving that day. I couldn’t remember. Oh I also bought some baked goods too. The lemon bars were good but the coffee cake was eh.

3.5 It must be an unwritten rule for Filipino restaurants not to label their dishes. I’ve ranted and raved about this before and it’s one of my many pet peeves about Filipino restaurants. It’s so embarrassing to have to point and ask what things are. I was in a rush and so I ordered a combo meal to go. I asked for the beef stew with rice and a ½ lb of lechon kawali. When I finally had a chance to eat later, I was disappointed to see that the beef stew had very little actual meat to it — maybe a total of 3 small slivers of it. If you like eggplant, you’d be very happy. The lechon kawali was actually really good and a half pound could easily serve two people — yay for leftovers. The breakfast buffet looked pretty good — maybe I’ll try it next time.

Upon entering this establishment the first plus I noticed was the cleanliness — even the storefront windows were sparkling! The smell from the wide variety of entrees was intoxicating. Like walking into the home of a good friend as a dinner guest. Extra awesome was the friendly staff… theses ladies were welcoming and kind. The food was OUTSTANDING. Some of the best Fillipino food in the bay area! Certainly the best in Vallejo. Chicken adobo, Dini gu an, Sitou, Sinigang, and beefsteak(which, btw, was so tender I cut it with a fork!). We will definitely return to this gem soon!

Great filipino food for the price. They serve large portions and the service is great. The location is clean and spacious. We went to this location for mother’s day because my mother in-law requested this spot. I would come back if I was craving filipino food.

Their chocolate mousse and their cream puff are to die for. I think I already found the chocolate cake in my dreams when I tried their chocolate cake topped with chocolate mousse. And their cream puff is so light and fluffy. And during weekends, they do have streetfoods… everything is a dollar/stick like isaw, squidballs, fishballs, pig ears, kwek-kwek and 1.50/stick for the yummy pork bbq. Just don’t forget your cash for that tax-free payment. Overall, I love their food as much as i love their place, it was clean and organized. And the people were so nice and friendly.

As far as filipino food in Vallejo, this is as good as it gets. Probally the most authentic filipino food in the area. Also, the weekend buffets are worth the 8.50! Only con is the normal meals are somewhat expensive. $ 9.99+ for 2 items and 2 scoops of rice.

Food is good but I’ve had better! The advantages of this place is that it’s always CLEAN, never smells bad inside(I hate the overwhelming smell that slaps you in the face upon entering a lot of Asian establishments), and it never feels like I’m entering a pressure cooker(you know that hot & humid feeling like at Andrea’s.) These are pluses because it’s quite difficult to eat or buy food from a place that makes one uncomfortable. You get that feeling of neglect, which makes one wonder how much care is taken during food prep. The disadvantages: Way too OVERPRICED! Like I said, the food is good but I’ve had better. I’ve had delicious Filipino food that sells at half the price but which deserves to charge the prices that Cabalen does plainly because they are just undeniably delicious! Also, the menu doesn’t change. They serve the same thing everyday. Finally, what’s with the«No, that’s not included with combo. You pay ‘insert $$$ amount here’ extra if you want that.» The amount they charge for the combo is already exorbitantly higher than necessary, then to add more $$$ just for a slice of fish/beef/pork?! I laugh at the greed wagon! And no thanks to the palm-full of pancit for $ 10.00. I’ll go three doors down an pay $ 3.99 for the overflowing«small» bigger than your«large.» Overall, cleanliness is great, food is ok, price is excessive.

I wasn’t really too impressed with the dishes. Aside from the prices being more expensive than a regular point-point joint, they don’t even taste better. If anything, it’s worse. The dude at the cashier has a big frown on his face, and the food was underwhelming. I might revisit this review if they redeem themselves, but at this point, unlikely.

This review is for the breakfast buffet, offered weekends at $ 7.95. The place is small but when I went at ~10AM almost every table was filled. One of the big perks is that the food serving area and the tables themselves are *clean*, unlike a lot of Filipino places that serve food on the counter. The breakfast items are spread out on a table though they are warmed by heat lamps. A rice cooker keeps the garlic fried rice warm and there’s unlimited coffee and water next to the rice. They serve a type of fried fish called the jeprox, a flat fish with the texture and crunchiness of chicharon. It’s the closest I can get to a type of long thin fried fish that is popular back my parents province, which I miss so much. Those types of fish go really well with moist garlic fried rice. Their sopas(creamy macaroni soup) has a good amount of chicken. The unlimited vegetables also is good if you want to get your veggie fix and you love your tomatoes and zucchini with vinegar and pepper. If it weren’t for the above items this just a buffet with your standard Filipino breakfast items. Nothing spectacular about any particular breakfast item but it definitely satiated my craving for a –silog breakfast, although I did miss having an over-easy/medium egg. I did appreciate that one of the breakfast items is corned beef — a popular breakfast item I cooked back at home and is never served in any of the Filipino breakfast places back in SD. Filipino breakfasts are quite rich. I’d rather stick to just one plate and have that one plate be excellent rather than stuff my stomach with buffet food. I would recommend it if you like more than one type of meat in your –silog breakfast.

I checked out this place on their opening weekend to get my Filipino food fill. I ordered to go and got their pork adobo, pork bbq, and diniguan. All the dishes were very fresh and the dinuguan has plenty of large chunks of meat, so I was super happy. At the bakery side, I also purchased some pan de sal, some ube sweets, and buko pie. The buko pie was very good. I was disappointed with the pan de sal so that would probably the only one I wouldn’t recommend. Location is closer to me coming from Napa than the other Filipino places, but it’s little bit sketchier since there were very few business around that are open. So I probably will continue to just order To Go rather than eat there. The up side is there’s tons of parking!

Love that Cabalan has their own bakery. They’re baker is from the Sunflower Bakery in Hercules and making their popular carmel cake. We were there to order a ½ sheet(55.00) and some extra goodies: silvanas, cupcakes, and custard cake. The cheesecake and lengue de gatto(long thin cookies shaped like a cat’s tongue) delish and not pictured since we ate them in 2mins upon purchase. Soooo happy we no longer need to drive to Hercules for our baked goods. Food looked appealing and inviting, though we remain loyal to the Fairfield location, and get our Filipino food fills there. The restaurant is as usual, impeccably clean and organized. Servers are nice and attentive. Picking up the cake on Sunday, ill get the picture of that then.
