The one star is for the nice guy behind the counter and the root beer freeze. My review: Worst food ever! Please return our $ 18! Love the root beer and it’s a nice touch having a tap where you can serve yourself but the root beer is so warm it melts your ice! I won’t go into detail about the cheeseburger and fries. You’ve been warned, don’t waste your money.

Every time this place just kills me by how bad it is! Rude employees– bad food — if they even have what you want …

Today was the worst experience I’ve ever had an A&W KFC I normally come to the restaurant at the corner of Redwood Street and Tuolumne all the time. Usually it’s really really good today out of five people working in the back it was hard to get one person to come to the counter and take an order. Then ALL the tables in the restaurant were dirty, every single one of them so I asked for a wet towel so I could wash the table down. They handed me 5 wet naps… yes 5 freaking«wet naps», the kind you wipe your hands on after eating. The kids sit down, my grandson goes to drink his milk shake & it tastes funny. It tasted like cleaning solution that somebody used to clean the milkshake maker with. It was contaminated. Then we get the hamburger it was ordered plain but came with everything on it and the last thing I was standing in line behind my family after they ordered and I waited for my turn to order and nobody ever bothered to come and talk to me so as far as I’m concerned this is my last visit here steer clear. I left a much longer detailed description of this encounter with pictures on my FB page.

I actually enjoyed my dining experience. I usually get kfc but it was really cool to get a root beer float as the drink on my combo. You can even get corn bread(this was new to me and I was definitely stoked). I was really excited for the rootbeer float. I guess they forgot it. so after waiting a bit I went up to ask them about it. The cashier, who was polite while I ordered, helped me again. When asking about my root beer float he blankly looked at me, then turned around and gave a cup to another gal who completed my order. When she clarified my float he was already walking away and responded to her in a low tone«yeah.» I was gonna give this place like a 4 but just had to take off a star due to my discomfort, feeling that this once polite guy can just switch up and escalate anger(as he was about to slam that cup in front of his coworker). He didn’t even say sorry and just discarded me in annoyance or disappointment. Take that attitude somewhere else…

I dropped by for only an A&W float, but got suckered for the 6 piece promo. The float was on the sweet side beyond my preference. It was expected so I’m not complaining. The promo included one side with 6 pieces of chicken. My order was to go, but as far as I can tell the dining area is clean and maintained while I waited for my order. Customer service was good. The young lady cashier had a positive attitude as she took my order. Nothing but smiles and swift order processing. It’s good ol fast food with exceptional service.

The only true love here, 2 for 1 apple pies, deep fried crunchy like the old Mickey D’s ones. Yum. The drive thru line is so dang slow AND prices are sky high. For a real chicken meal check out Chavez Market, better price and healthier food.

Repeat after me: Always trust your gut instinct. On our way to Chinese food, the kid says«A&W! Let’s try it!» Not having it for about 20 years, I think sure why not. We rarely do fast food but you know that dam curiousity… We walk in and are bombarded with kindness and about 100 people working there(not really) After that… down hill $ 17.83 for 2 burgers, onion rings, cheese curd balls, vanilla shake and a root beer float. $ 17.83? Are you serious. That is nuts. Especially since they forgot to warm my bun — -twice. Big thick cold buns… hate it. The rings were OK but they let us add on the cheese curd balls for $ 2.99. $ 2.99 is not an add on price people… that is full price price! And EFFWHYEYE, cheese curd balls is not an attractive name. Consider Mini Mozarella Maybe ;) So, the stars are for friendly people, cool music and giving us the option to have our floats and shakes in real glass, chilled mugs!

If only it was an IN N out or a philly cheese steak shop. A&W does make a good burger
