Decided to go Claim Jumper to celebrate a birthday. We had a party of six and food and service was very good and on the pricey side. Then it was time to order desert, a couple of us decided on the cheese cake. To our surprise we were told they did not have any. What major restaurant chain does not have cheese cake for dinner when it’s offered on the menu? Henceforth the 3 star rating.

This just isn’t the same place it used to be. I hear they got bought out, but the changes are for the worse. I miss the fans, which used to have connecting bands that spanned the different rooms. Now, just lights. There are lanterns on every table, and with the dim lighting from the ceiling, they are just too bright. We covered ours with a menu. They no longer have the garlic bread appetizer, which is probably half the reason we stopped. Big disappointment. I had the salad bar, a remnant form the past, but it was only ok. The variety is marginal, and not all the ingredients looked very fresh. Service was ok. Efficient, pleasant, but not real connected to customers. This place is expensive; I want to be spoiled a bit. I don’t know if we will stop here again. They still have the chocolate cake, but that might not be enough to pull us off the 99 when there are so many restaurants at this exit now.

I’ve always liked Claim Jumper, despite it being part of a chain. I’ve never had a bad experience or disliked anything I’ve ever ordered. Sometimes I regret finishing everything in one sitting but it’s usually because the food is good. I ordered a chicken sandwich which was shredded chicken in a bbq sauce(similar to pulled pork) and it came with fries. I really enjoyed the sandwich and was satisfied after the 1st half but couldn’t stop.

Greasy, and very heavy. If you’re in the mood for a food coma, check this place out. Definitely was not the best choice for lunch. The BBQ chicken sandwich was a lot of bread and not a lot of chicken. Very large portions. The staff is very nice and attentive, but I prefer Woodranch over this place. The salad bar looked like it was all canned veggies and toppings. The huge chocolate cake did look delicious, but I was too full to try it.

What is the matter with this new ownership group? I give them 3 stars because I’m a decades long Claim Jumper customers d I’ve been here(or to another location) several times post bankruptcy and unfortunately the CJ franchise has gone down the tubes. I still like it, but I don’t love it. Go back to what made CJ an amazing experience– the old menu! Get the corn bread muffin, Apple cinnamon muffin, and the rest of the muffins back. Also, BRINGBACKTHEPRIMERIB! All done for now…

After spending the day with her ailing grandmother, my wife wanted to eat out and enjoy a relaxed evening. And Claim Jumper was where she had in mind. That was fine with me. All was not well tonight as evidenced by a drop in 2 stars from my previous review rating. Our server, Mr. «L», started out seemingly friendly enough, but his table manners, mainly ignoring us for the most part after taking our orders, went down considerably the remainder of our meal. I ordered my BBQ Beef Ribs with a baked potato, and the roasted veggies that came with the the meal. And my wife had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken. Our food finally arrived some 20 – 25 minutes later. A poorly presented plate of ribs were placed before me, rather over cooked in appearance; but they tasted decent. My baked potato was okay on the inside, but no chance of consuming any of the skin, which I enjoy doing, since it was way too tough and over baked. And the roasted veggies were just Eeh! My strawberry lemonade was tasty. As for my wife, she declared this her last visit to at least this particular Claim Jumper. Her Parmesan Crusted Chicken was smothered in a sauce and unfortunately, waterlogged. The crust was literally sliding off, exposing a bland piece of poultry. She also opted for the single visit to the protein(salad) bar, but didn’t care much for the strange tasting ranch dressing. After making several passes by our table, averting his eyes away from my wife’s plate pushed away from her. Less then half touched; Mr. «L», our server, finally made his way back to our location when it was time for our check. He did finally show concern that she must not have been very satisfied with her meal, and offered her a choice of anything else on the menu. She chose the Tenderloin Tips with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. But Mr. «L» went missing in action and we waited over 30 minutes for that to-go order. One of the more attentive servers finally came over, and on hearing our dilemma came back almost immediately with my wife’s order. Still no verdict on the tenderloin tips since she hasn’t decided if and when she even wants to eat them now. How have the mighty fallen. A place we’ve always enjoyed dining at over the last 9 years, unfortunately has fallen from our good graces. Goodbye Valencia Claim Jumper.

This was by far the worst service I have ever received from this establishment! Thanks to Connor, they get this 1 star! Claim jumpers needs more employees like him! We walked in and told the airhead hostess that we would like a table for six. After she seated every one that walked in after us with a table for 5 and 6, she remembered that we were waiting. Finally after waiting 35 minutes, we were seated with no apology for their incompetence. Everyone at my table ordered steak and shrimp platters and loved it! I, however, ordered the absolute tortellini — definitely filling and extremely delicious. I had so much left over that I took it home and ended up finding a nice piece of plastic that I could’ve fuckn choked on! Claim jumpers has definitely lost what they use to be. A high end restaurant! They might as well call themselves a Denny’s now!

Meh… dinner was OK. I have not been back to CJ in several years but I ended up there tonight. The salad bar looked very weak, I remember CJ having an elaborate overflowing salad bar. The area with the salad dressing needed a good cleaning when I got there and still needed it when I left. I wasn’t that hungry so I got a bowl of chicken tortilla soup which was deelish. Another person at my table got the chicken pot pie and said it was horrible. The kids like loved their meals. Have you seen the new bread? Holy cow, huge garlic bread knots… soft and yummy. And for desert salted caramel ice cream cake with a pretzel crust… I gotta get to the gym… Jesus.

Nice place and atmosphere. I thought it was a little expensive for what it actually was. We just had lunch there, so I really can’t comment too much on the quality of the dinners. The salsa was not great, not bad, but just not great.

Big portions and good food a little pricey if you get the good stuff And you should splurge a little if you are coming here Service is just OK and parking is sometimes complicated I go about once a year — It’s a solid place hard to be let down

I think Claim Jumper is one of those places that is more for *going to Claim Jumper* rather than for the taste of the food. It’s pretty mediocre. Not terrible, not inedible, but I haven’t had anything fabulous here. The portions are humongous so I guess if you’re coming here hungry and ready for giant portions, the food will taste fine. The service is ok – pretty much the same as the food. Not bad, but not outstanding. Our server was attentive but seemed a little less than enthused. Despite the«alrightness» I’ll probably find my way back here at some point(likely after Magic Mountain or en route to LA) but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Worth a try to see plates the size of your torso, but not really for the taste

This is a pretty big restaurant. It’s located right off the I5 if you are traveling to or from the central valley, so it’s great for travelers wanting a nice meal. We have never had to wait, so that’s a plus. This place has a huge menu! Steaks, ribs, chicken, pastas, salads, seafood but best of all they have a pretty good choice for gluten free and vegetarian needs. The garlic cheese bread was warm with melted butter on it. I ate to much. I usually get a big fat steak but opted for the ½ rotisserie chicken and sweet potato this time. Wow, it was super good. Chicken was very moist and tender. The sweet potato was amazing. They put a big glob of butter and brown sugar on it, but you can take it off if you want a healthier choice. The portions were huge. I left with a doggy bag! Our server was really good. Very attentive and quick. Got a good meal in a short time and hopped back on the road! I gave it four stars because the parking lot is always crazy. The service and food were definitely 5 stars for a chain restaurant.

Ok, so I’ve come many times in the past but its been a while since my previous visits so I figured I’d write a review for this most recent visit. Overall, I’m going to give it 3.5 stars. When we walked in, it was very busy but we were seated very quickly. All of the staff throughout the visit were very friendly. The service was good. I cannot recall any fault in that. What I do recall is that the baby back ribs I ordered were dry & overcooked. They didn’t taste very good. I didn’t have a strong desire to finish them so I didnt, which is a rarity for me. I much more prefer, say, the baby back ribs at Salt Creek Grill. The portions are large, so I could’ve taken some home if I had enjoyed it, but I didn’t. The fries were good & the stuffed BBQ shrimp enbrochette was good as well; no leftovers there. The killka malbec was decent. I’ll surely return but will not order the ribs. I don’t recommend doing so either. What I can recommend is the Chocolate Chip Calzone dessert. It is huge, enough for the table to share, and it is always delicious!

Claim Jumper has become a fairly regular stop for my family when we travel from the central valley to L. A. and back. Sometimes we have a large group, sometimes just a few. No matter how many, this restaurant finds a way to keep us from waiting too long. The tables and restaurant are clean and ready to go. Everything at the table is well stocked. The server was well trained and attentive. There is a great selection of items and sides to go with entrees. The food was cooked perfectly, came out hot, and tasted great. I ordered the three layer carrot cake for dessert and it was good, but not great. It looked better than it was, but then again, I’m a carrot cake lover and really look forward to greatness. My wife ordered the citrus salad, and was a bit disappointed because she thought it tasted bland. Usually, the salads here are heavenly, so we are chalking it up to a one time issue. Get the steaks, they rock!

Ah, Claim Jumper; my favorite establishment. The two in my area are located right next to Macaroni Grills and let me tell you, the juxtaposition between the two really helps illuminate the inviting and relaxed atmosphere Claim Jumper offers along with it’s large portions and«never fails to disappoint» selections. From a seemingly endless array of wines, craft beers, cocktails, to appetizers and gigantic desserts… this place can satisfy any craving. My boyfriend’s favorite is the Widow Maker burger(think heart attack on a bun, done deliciously), while my best friend swears by their potato cheese soup in a sourbread dough. I have quite the affection for their California Citrus Salad and Goat Cheese Pizza. This particular visit consisted of four family members and myself. We had pretzels, calzones, salads, chicken fingers and soups between us. NONE of us were disappointed. My basil and tomatoe calzone was heavenly and not a burden on the stomach and the precurser side salad really was something else. Usually you get some greens, a carrot, tomatoes, and some cheese at other places. Here they do something a little different and the balsamic is so savory and eqsuisite. Beyond the atomshphere and selection is service that is hardly ever amiss. I think one at the Northrdige Location I was being kind of obnoxious with a friend and we were left to our devices more than usual. This occassion we were well taken care of by a friendly and accomodating young man named Teddy who was charismatic without seeming phony like some waiters can. A great visit as always! Tip: If you love Landry’s restaurants(there’s a few more attached to the chain) then invest in the rewards card. The points add up quick and you get 25 bucks towards your birthday meal in your month! No one can beat that. Trust me. I’m a deal hunter. ;)

Went in the late afternoon Sunday for dunch or linner(lunch and dinner). We got seated right away but it took a while for waitress, Michelle to come to table. The three of us ordered a Cobb salad, chicken pot pie and a calzone. All had to be taken home because of the portion size, so dunch. Cost was around $ 50 for this time out. Good taste, huge portions, so-so service.
