The price is fare for the amount of food you get and the quality. The place is convenient and the guy is cool

The dinner special that gives three selections plus rice/chow mein costs only $ 8.25 and has enough food to feed two with plenty to spare. The chicken was a bit tough, so that brings the rating down some. As others have mentioned, the gentleman that works here is very friendly and service oriented.

I can’t believe this place gets anything less than 5 full stars. Johnny is the NICEST guy. He always smiles and greets his customers(usually by name)! The food is amazing and the service is over the top!

Shanghai Express is awesome! It’s a no frills take out«hole in the wall», the service is fast and friendly and the food is ALWAYS great. Been coming here for over ten years and I’ve never been let down!

Unilocal has let me down this time. I’m new to the area and wanted to find a new Chinese place. Unilocal ratings were good here so I decided to try it. Unfortunately it did not come even close… Although things were ready to go, the food there is not good at all. I ordered a dinner for two special with chow mein, beef and broccoli, and sweet and sour pork. I will say that the sweet and sour pork was decent, although the onions in it were raw. The noodles in chow mein were not pan fried as I am used to in my previous Chinese place. The beef and broccoli were not even made in an oyster sauce! I thought to myself that I could make this better myself. What a waste of money and appetite! Best go somewhere else… I’ll be continuing my search for a good Chinese place but this place is def not it!

Shanghai is simply amazing(as long as you go before 20 minutes to closing). They have a fairly large selection of meats, and all are juicy and flavorful. They have a menu but the owner rarely follows it. If I ask for a 5 combination plate(1 rice, 1 chow mein, and 3 sides) he will charge you whatever the special is regardless to give people the best deal. Even if they charged full price, their prices are decent. I think the most someone can pay for dinner is $ 6.95 and you ALWAYS get a huge portion of food. So if you show up, even with thirty minutes of the night to spare, the owner will have fresh meats and sides prepared upon request, however, once he gets down to the last 20 minutes, no special requests can be honored. But as a business owner why would you make a full batch to throw it out since he doesn’t leave food overnight. I get it. Go here for Asian cuisine, super good, and the owner is always smiling and greets people and once he served you, he will remember you every time.

I love this place. Their chow mein and sweet and sour spareribs are my favorite. I go there at least twice a week. Very friendly and quick customer service. A great way to stop and get lunch/dinner.

Fast Food Chinese food … Best spot in Vacaville. It’s always hot and«fresh»(he’s usually pretty busy so the food doesn’t sit all day) and if it’s been sitting a while he will make a fresh dish! He isn’t stingy with the portions and he’s really nice. He also helps the customers create orders(especially family orders) with saving money in mind.

This has been our favorite Chinese place for about 20 years. The portions are HUGE, the food is excellent. We absolutely love their sweet & sour(both chicken and pork) and I love their ribs. My husband loves their mushroom chicken. If you order the three item special, you get three items off the steam table plus chow mein or rice(or a combination, if you ask). They also have a full menu for other items for take out.

This place is amazing. I ordered lunch to go earlier today and the man recognized my voice from the phone… I don’t know about you, but to me that just shows how much they care about their customers. Anyways, the food is really good and pretty cheap too. This is the first Chinese restaurant I’ve tried since moving to Vacaville, and it will probably be the only one I go to from now on.

Once upon a time there were a lot more steam table Chinese places. Shanghai has managed to stand the test of time. The guy who works there, whom I assume is an owner or co-owner, is always incredibly friendly. The food is usually fresh, and the portions are great for the price. I don’t love a lot of their dishes, but their sesame chicken and lemon chicken are both very good. Their chow mein and spring rolls are yummy too. My husband loves this place a lot more than I do, so they get a full four stars for consistently making him happy.

Try a little harder at customer service. I was going to park in a space and some Asian Lady cut me off and took the spot and could not park for the life of her when I walked in he said«that’s my friend«and I said«Ok and? «he was rude but I still left a tip. Don’t pee in the wind also when I went to pull out she would not move her car so I proceeded to back my car up which is fully coverd boo boo move out of the way. My point is if your running a business the customer should come first not your friend who causes a traffic jam in a HUGE parking lot. A wonderful experience will Not return. Maybe by helicopter only.

My husband and I come in at least 1 a week. We always take our food to go. The cream cheese wontons and fried rice are the best. I was a little disappointed on the egg flower soup. I think it was to Harty and needed more broth.
