We love the food that Michael cooks here but he has been closed for the last couple of weeks. Has he moved? If anyone knows, please post it. He makes the best chow mein, orange chicken, dumplings, and broccoli beef in town! We miss it! Come back Imperial China Kitchen!!!

Good place to checkout for Chinese food. New management as of April 2015 and friendly service. Owner has 20 yrs experience as a cook and was a cook in SF. Food was pretty good and authentic compared to other places in the area. Small little spot, nothing fancy… but worth giving a try. He cooks everything right in front of you. Hope to see his business do well!

Great customer service. I read a recent review about new management. I am very surprised because the service was so good, they cooked up a big order for me close to closing up with appreciation of my business instead of resentfully for keeping them late. I thought they were the owners! I picked up food for 2 very picky eaters who have ordered from other Chinese restaurants in Vacaville and that night they said this was the only place they’d order from from now on. We ordered Mongolian beef, Bbq pork fried rice, Bbq pork chow mein, hot and sour soup and egg flour soup. My opinion. The seasonings were right on. The rice in my opinion was more white ppl style. It was almost like uncle bens all the grains separated. I’m used to the rice sticking together a little bit. Some ppl may like this. It tasted great– For me it threw me off a bit .the hot and sour soup was very dark. I’m not sure if it’s cause it was condensed from simmering all day and we were the last customers of the day. Or they just added extra dark vinegar. It tasted good just looked dark. I don’t usually order Mongolian beef cause I’m used to it being mainly onions. But this was mainly beef. Seasoned perfectly. Good quality meat and tender. I would not recommend this place to have lunch/dinner dining in if you have a big group of ppl this place is small .&NOT elegant/fancy It’s a small space you can see right into the kitchen I liked the vibe and energy-the ppl working that night were very warm and welcoming.

I live fairly close to this place and I have to say it is hit or miss and don’t bother asking for anything on the menu CUZ the guy only makes whatever he wants u to eat… I’ve try several times but he has yet to get the order right. The food taste pretty good but he just never quite gets the order also if you order the lunch special you have to remind him that soup comes with it and none of the prices r listed correct in the menu expect to pay at minimum 50 cents more on top the listed price not sure why but whatever Eat at your own risk

If I had been writing this review 10 years ago, it would have been raving. I’m not sure if it has new owners, or the kids took over or what, but it really is not as good as it used to be. I never go anymore because it is just a disappointment over the food I remember from coming here with my brother as a kid. Though, it is still good Chinese.

Not impressed plain and simple. Really friendly service, but my food was simple and bland.

The best chinese food I’ve tasted! Literally. Everything I have tried I loved. I usually come here late afternoon and they give my boyfriend and I complimentary wantons! They’re so sweet. Their english is really limited which makes you feel as if you’re getting authentic Chinese. It’s a bit of a downfall because you can’t ask many questions thats why I gave them 4 stars. We ordered a dish expecting one thing and got another, we took it back we felt so bad since it was our mistake but they made us another dish for free. We tried to return the other but they let us keep it, told us it was a popular dish but they couldn’t take it. We ate it and liked it a lot. But honestly with the language barrier they make you feel welcomed and happy to be there, you can tell they’re sweet people. That makes the food sooooo much more delicious. I had them twice in one week, and I’m not big on Chinese food lol. They also make to order, nothing sits around, you have tempura chicken in your order? They batter it on site and make the sauce. I was shocked they were so dry in business, it almost made me sad, because the food is so good and the people great but I went at around 7ish and it was busy! They’re prices and portions are the best, I’m young and on my own so paying for a two entrée dinner with a side that can feed myself and extra hunger boyfriend with leftovers to spare? Bang for the buck, and a nice tip with no regrets! This place is heaven.

Definitely THEHIDDENGEM of Chinese food in Vacaville. We have been to many Chinese food establishments in Vacaville– Wah Shine, Yen King, Chin Hua, Dragon Palace — and this place has the best food in my opinion. Fresh and made to order. It is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of place but the food is great. I went to go get a Smog at California Smog just a little walk’s distance and wanted lunch so I went here. I was stuck on the Mongolian Beef and fried rice for a bit, but I finally ventured off into salt and pepper fish, spicy orange chicken, vegetable chow mein and I am still not disappointed. They make the food right in front of you and pulls out whatever he needs from the refrigerator. This is as fresh as it can get. I even inspected my veggie chow mein to see if the broccoli had brown spots — none at all. Another reason I love this place is the price — it’s cheap, good, fresh American Chinese food. It’s a family — they are too cute and very friendly! If you’ve been here, you know what I mean. BUT, if you are the type who has no patience for a person who does not speak or interpret English very well — you have been warned and please be patient. Get ready to circle your order on the to-go menu at times=) LOL. I hate to say this but I love seeing my authentic AMERICAN Chinese food being cooked right in front of me. Love the freshness. If you’re a Mongolian beef whore, you’ve got to try this place out. Happy hunting…

Original owners. Pretty decent food. New owners. Horrible flavorless rice & chow mein. And the general tsao chicken I ordered was plain old fried chicken. costly for what little you get.

Food was terrible. Had no flavor. There wasn’t any chili or spice in the Kung Pao shrimp. The fried rice was just white rice with a little bit of egg and a dash of soy sauce. Not the same quality since the new owners took over.

I’m sad that Helen and San have moved on, but they have worked so hard for so many years here — they deserve a break. I’m also sad that the dishes aren’t as they used to be. The chow mein is just boiled and stir fried like everywhere else. Its disappointing. I can get this almost anywhere. I wish the new owners the best, and get San’s recipe for the chow mean and bring it back.

Imperial China Kitchen is the spot! I love little hole-in-the-wall joints and this one gets it. I’ve driven past this spot a million times and now, I regret never stopping. The cook is from S.F. so he knows what’s up. The food is delicious and the prices are awesome!

This place defines«hole in the wall» in Vacaville. I remember the original owners and all the tagged up benches and photos on the wall. One cool one being the group, Papa Roach. This was their spot in HS I hear. Food was immensely cheap and tasty during that time frame. Since then, two new owners have taken over. Currently the newest owners are very nice and the food still remains decent. Sadly the plates aren’t a few bucks like old times. But then again, its new ownership. If you want cheaper than most, made to order Chinese food this is your place to be if you find yourself in lil’ ol’ Vacaville. Quick tip; the owners are SF natives. Which typically translates to; authentic tasting Chinese in the suburbs :)

I recently decided to create a food blog and the title(with sauce ova) is in honor of the owner of this little hole in the wall place that fed me from 6th grade till I managed to graduate high school. So I thought I would write a little Unilocal review :) I haven’t lived in Vacaville for about 10 years, but have managed to pop into ICK from time to time over the years and get my favorite combo: chow mein noodles and an egg roll and they are exactly like I remember them. The food is simple, but tasty and at least back in high school, you could noodles, egg rolls and a soda for like $ 3. You can’t beat the price and the lady who owns it and is usually at the front counter is so sweet! I have to disagree with Danny though, I think she is Korean(but I may be wrong) since she always had kimchee in the back for the korean folk who came in. But maybe she just really liked kimchee. Her true asian identity may remain a mystery forever. Anywho, this is a great place to pop in for a cheap and quick lunch! I would have starved in high school if it weren’t for this place.
