The food is good but very bland. We use to eat there weekly but now with new owners the food though great in quantity is lacking in flavor. Have not tried all their soups but others in our party said it was very bland and lacked flavor and ingredients. Too bad a great landmark in Vacaville now sadly going out of sight for most.

The BEST Chinese food Vacaville has to offer. The fried beef in garlic sauce is to die for. The wonton soup is Fantastic and doesn’t even need soy sauce. Everything is always so fresh and full of flavor. This place never disappoints.

VERY disappointing. After checking out their online menu, we ordered via phone. Upon arriving there to pick up our food, we were told that the online prices were not valid, that they were the«old prices». Needless to say, the«new prices» were notably higher. We were a little put off, but hey, it happens, so we paid and took our meal home to eat. If I had to summarize the food in a single word, I’d say«bland». All of it. And we ordered for a family of six, so there was plenty of blandness to go around, in various forms. A sizable chicken bone in my chow mein made for for a little variety, but not enough to save the meal. The fried rice was so overdone as to be mushy. Even the fortune cookies(which I understand are prepackaged and not made in-house) were bland. To be specific, our meal consisted of the following: egg flour soup pork fried rice chicken chow mein broccoli chicken teriyaki chicken white rice On the plus side, I will say that the meal was not overly greasy, as can often be the case with Chinese dishes All in all a very«meh» experience, and one we won’t be repeating. Too bad, as we’re new to the area and love Chinese food.

There is an old saying, «if you can’t make a good first impression, make a lasting one.» China House sadly, did neither of these things. Was the food good? Yes, it was pretty good food. Was the food great? No, it was just OK. I was in last night with my family, and we ordered egg flower(egg drop) soup, crab and cheese wontons, shezwan style eggplant, shezwan style shrimp, and shrimp fried rice for the Wee one. The egg flower soup, and the shrimp fried rice were very good. I can highly recommend both of those dishes. The eggplant, and the shrimp dishes were not Shezwan style. Shezwan style implies that the dish will be very spicy and indeed, be loaded with shezwan peppercorns. Neither dish was the least bit spicy, despite being marked as spicy on the menu. The egg plant, and the shrimp were both swimming in sweet and sour sauce. Was it a good sweet-and-sour sauce? Yes it was. It was not, however, the least bit spicy or shezwan style. So while I found the food to be just OK, it was not great. I, sadly, will very likely not be returning to China House for another meal.

I Don’t know if any of you ate at the China house before they changed management but the original China house was amazing. never a complaint in the 33 years I’ve been going the food was always perfect. The service was impeccable and honestly the best Chinese in vacaville by far. The owner worked her fingers to the bone and an over all experience 5 *****stars. HOWEVERNOW since it has new management, new owner cooks, new servers ect. It sadly has become the WORST Chinese in vacaville. Food is absolutely HORRIBLE. the cooks and service and owner apparently have no clue what there doing and have honestly put the name to descrace. Which is really sad to see considering I’ve been going there since I was a child. I’m hoping by writing this out and letting people know that may be the management might see this and try to get some pointers and recipes and tips from the old owner. I hope something changes soon or unfortunately they will be out of business .I’m not comfortable even giving one star:(Please save the CHINAHOUSE.

I stopped here to pick up dinner based on the reviews I read here on Unilocal. Not impressed with the food. I ordered wor wonton soup, chicken chow mein and the fried chicken appetizer. The appetizer was fried chicken chunks which I expected but they were very bland and very dry. It came with sweet and sour sauce which is needed to swallow the dry meat… I did not order sweet and sour chicken which is what this is, just with the sauce on the side, cmon, really??? The soup, ehh, it was just ok. The chicken chow mein, not that good either until I doused it with soy sauce. Would i recommend this place. No. Would I eat here again, No. Just not that good.

What happened? We lived in the area about 12 years ago and China House absolutely spoiled me when it came to Kung Pow Chicken. Every time I ordered it at other restaurants I always remarked that it wasn’t nearly as good as theirs. But no more! It has changed – dramatically! Today it had a thin, too-salty sauce and dry, over cooked chicken. What happened to that incredibly thick, rich sauce and tender chicken, China House? How did you go from the best to the worse? At least now I will no longer have visions of bribing the chef for your recipe!

‘Was craving wor wonton soup… ‘And after searching Unilocal*for the local area, China House came highly recommended.(‘And since I was here, a lot of people raved about the pot stickers as well) So, it was wor wonton & pot stickers… ‘To-go! Store Front — ‘As I picked up the order, the restaurant was empty… ‘But seemed to have ample space even if it was packed. Interior — «Wor» translates from«everything,» to «big pot.» There’s some controversy surrounding it’s true etymology or definitive meaning. «Wonton Soup,» refers to the dumplings, «Dumpling Soup.» ‘Back in Hawai’i, with a large Japanese population & a popular tourist destination, wor wonton or wor wonton min,(the latter being with noodles,) are very big hits with the locals. In my experience, «If you’ve never had wor wonton in Chinatown, then you’ve never had wor wonton.» Now, there are a few exceptions but very far & very, very few between. In most cases, the wor wonton that I’ve had @ other establishments included vegetables(carrots, bok choy, sprouts, charsiu,(BBQ pork), and/or even egg. However, it’s one of those«Playdoh,» kinda dishes… ‘Every place does it a bit differently and molds the soup into their own variation. Overall, the wor wonton & potstickers were just, «Okay.» The broth was on the thin side, absent of that deep, rich flavor that is achieved when the soup is slowly simmered. The wor wonton consisted of three pieces of shrimp, a few slices of meat, 5 wontons, some noodles, and the only vegetable, snow peas… ‘All for $ 12.(Shrugs) I’ve had better for less… ‘A lot better. The wonton filling was very good, flavorful. I was very surprised to see no charsiu… It’s one of those crucial ingredients that make a wor wonton soup, a «WORWONTONSOUP!» This wasn’t the«WOR» wonton I know, it was more like a small scuffle… ‘Better yet, more alike to walking down the street and someone shoulder bumping you, «Bump Wonton Soup!» Photo — The potstickers were very good too, tasty filling.(My guess, China House uses the same mix for their wontons as well.) However, as delicious it was, I am not a huge fan of chewing through rhino skin to get to it… ‘Have you seen how thick the wrappers are?! It was like biting through the skin of a baby’s arm to get to the delicious, soft center.(I’m kidding! I usually order skinless when devouring infants, less fattening.) I prefer the thinner wonton wraps, hold off on the extra dough, if you please. Photo — Like I said, «Okay.» ‘Not horrible but had hoped it was going to be «more than,» what it actually was. Sure, I’d make a return trip just to see how their dinner service ran & possibly try a few other must-try plates @ Chinese restaurants.(It’s sort of a litmus test to help me gauge the quality. It’s a lot like ordering uni @ a sushi bar, «Oh, you will know quick, fast & in a hurry after your first bite.» — Big Aloha Food: 3– Ambiance: n/a(To-go) Service: 3 Value: 2+

I love China House. I’ve read a lot of terrible reviews of it, but I don’t get it. We’ve been going here for 28 years. We’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants in China Town, San Francisco, and I put them on a par with China House. However, China House’s food is never greasy/oily the way authentic Chinese food can be. We have really enjoyed the Wor Wonton Soup, Sauteed Three Ingredients and Happy Family(a mixture of seafoods). Try those… It’s a good restaurant run by a good family… and yes, they also run the Italian place next door, Fuso’s, which is also very good, if a bit pricey… You can park in the lot behind the restaurant and come in the back door if you can’t find parking on Main St.

I like this place, as good as it gets for Chinese food in our area. The food is traditional and authentic, and whilst the service may not be stellar, just stop and think, this is not at a five star or high end restaurant people. It’s homestyle and family run. So if you are looking for enthusiasm, smiles and for the servers to make you feel good about yourself, go to a high end place and stop complaining. The food is great, the servers are friendly(ie.Lucy is a sweetheart). Nuff said.

I am very disappointed. I used to go to this restaurant every so often for their beef chow mein, which had the right kind of noodles and as far as I can tell was made somewhat like Cantonese style, that is fried, and very tasty. A few months ago I had the noodles and they were not up to my liking. I tried them again last Saturday, and again, they were not the same as before. These seem to be fried to begin with, but at some point, the(I assume) new cook, adds broth, resulting in the dish being steamed instead of fried. Well, I may not be Chinese, but I know chow(chou) means fried, and that is what was good about this dish. So for now, I probably will have to go to San Francisco, or Oakland to get real FRIED noodles.

The worst Chinese food in Vacaville. My beautiful wife and I have eaten at several other Chinese food places and have not come away mad. China House made us mad. We paid about $ 40 for two entrees, fried rice and crab cakes. The entrees were garlic chicken and sweet and sour shrimp. Horrible. I can’t decide if they hurried the food because it was late and therefore it was under done, or, after reading other reviews of this place, they have yet to figure out their breading problem. Either way it sucked. The rice was good and prepared correctly, and the crab cake thingys were ok… but I’m not paying $ 40 to have ½ of my meal be ok tasting… this place tasted as bad as that crappy joint in the Vacaville Commons down the way from Gamestop… don’t go there either unless you like worthless Chinese food. If you want to try China House I suggest ordering your favorite Chinese food entrée solo and eating it right there in front of them while standing in the front door area. If you like it then chow down. If you hate it then gently set it on the counter and tell them ‘no way Jose’ and walk out… thats what I shoulda done…

My family and I have been coming here for years. China house has good food and okay service. We have an order that we place every time we are there and that is what we stick to. I have had some of the other food, but I like to stick to what I know I love. We order Szechuan Beef, Lemon Chicken, Pot Stickers, Hot & Sour Soup, Vegetable Chow Mien, Steamed Rice, and sometimes Mongolian Beef The Szechuan Beef is unlike anything we have had anywhere else. It is deep fried and coated in a sweet spicy sauce. The Hot & Sour soup is very good and probably the best I have ever had. I have tried it at other places and it just doesn’t compare to here. The Mongolian Beef is very good and they wrap it right in front of you in the thin«pancake» I think it is a thin rice flour tortilla. It is wrapped with your choice of green onions, Plumb sauce, and the beef. So Good! I suggest you have it all wrapped in.

Easily one of my favorite Chinese places. I’ve been here 4 or 5 times so far, and every single time the food has been amazing. My personal favorites are the twice-cooked pork(savory and delicious), the crab fried wontons(even though I don’t normally go for crab), and the garlic chicken wings. Seriously, their wings(and San Tung’s in SF) are at the top of my wing list. Service was solid, but the food is the real reason to come here.

Pretty good Chinese food in little Vacaville. I come here when I am out of business in this area and am craving some Chinese food. For this area, this is really as good as it gets. Sounds white-washed, but I really do like the brocolli chicken and vegetable potstickers. Nothing here is over-oily like most Chinese restaurants tend to be, and the fried rice accompanying the lunches here is really quite lite. Really, if you are looking for something tasty and do not want to be bogged down for lunch by oil and salt, this is the place to come. Interesting fact — did you know that they own the Italian restaurant next door?! Yes — Chinese Italians?! WTH
