Had a business dinner here when I attended OSU for a conference. Creative menu! I had their black bean burger. It was really good(not dry at all) and had a little kick to it. The service was fantastic(the split our check 6 ways without batting an eyelash) and the outdoor patio was a great seating option.

Very great ambiance and service(again, way to go, Cameron Mitchell)! The location is perfect for its cuisine and price, as it provides an up-scale touch of healthy and innovative food options. Their burgers, sushi and salads are terrific, while some of the big entrees(steak and fish), in my opinion, focus more on the ingredients side than the taste and flavors side. Overall, a great restaurant for occasions and lunches that sits close to Upper Arlington.

Dip Trio was very processed and did not seem high quality. Tasted very preservativey. The chips served with the trio were no better than a bag of tortilla chips from Kroger. Sushi also appeared to be from Kroger or Giant Eagle. They claim to roll in house but it just wasn’t quality at all… definitely not fresh. Chicken salad sandwich was covered in mayo, served on grocery store bread. It was so bad I had to order coffee just to get the taste to go away. My first thought was this is Champs with a much higher price. On second thought Champs serves higher quality food. Everything about this place screams«Use low quality everything to MAXIMIZEPROFITS». I’m not bashing all Cameron establishments. I’m very fond of Cap City, but Hudson left me wondering if it’s Cameron’s experiment to see what he can get away with. The third star is for service — they do a good job with that.

We made our reservations with Hudson 29 well in advance on Open Table but then I called a week before hand to add some people. They were ridiculously accommodating.(I called a few days later and changed the number back– which they did without question or criticism.) This was all on Mother’s Day and OSU’s graduation. On the day of our reservations I called to see if they would seat us early– they invited us to drop by an hour and fifteen minutes early and they’d get us drinks and seat us asap. We arrived 45 minutes before our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our food was mostly average– although the sushi and prime rib were fantastic! Our drinks were all spectacular! The whiskey and honey is delicious! The wait staff was also superb. The restaurant itself is so crisp and modern, yet rustic. The lobby has a gorgeous fireplace and plush armchairs. Overall, it was a pretty good experience!

I had high expectations for Hudson 29 coming in, and all of those were met. The atmosphere is really nice and would serve as a great place for a local date night, etc. Easy access to free parking in the garage, which is always appreciated. For food, I ordered the King Kong sushi roll and the surf and turf sushi roll. Both were great! The King Kong roll reminded me of a California roll with scallops mixed with spicy mayo on top. The surf and turf was my favorite, as it had a thin filet mignon topped roll, with tempura shrimp. Overall, great atmosphere with great food. Sushi was reasonably priced, but some of the entrees were a little pricey. If you come to Hudson 29, be willing to shell out some money, but for some pretty good food!

Every so often, you deserve to treat yourself, right? That’s what I thought, so I decided on the very swanky but unpretentious Hudson 29 for a self-date lunch. It turned out to be a lovely choice for any kind of date: self, partner, friend, parent, adult child(I’ll let parents of child-children decide if it’s good for youngsters too). The hostess sat me in a small booth, just perfect for a solo diner. There is a rectangular bar in the middle of the first room, where I imagine I’d have ended up if it were a crowded time, but a Monday lunch is pretty sparse. The server — Anna, if I’m not mistaken — was very attentive and always prompt. I asked for hot tea, and she brought out a fancy schmancy wood box with little cups of loose tea, about twelve options including black, green, and herbal. I went with jasmine pearl, a favorite of mine. I forgot to look for or ask about tea brand, but no matter. It came in a little metal pot, the tea in a sachet, not steeped yet. Cup, saucer, lemon slice, nice and pretty. All the specials sounded delicious. If I recall them correctly, there was a roasted red pepper soup and a yellowjack with a quinoa side. There was an omelette special, and it was veggie, but that’s all I caught about that. I ordered off the regular menu, though, going with the wood grilled salmon. It comes with a couscous salad with«raisins, almonds, cucumber, radish, citrus vinaigrette,» according to the menu, and I think there was another green veg in there, too. I made sure to ask whether the couscous was made in broth or water — the answer was water. I didn’t think to ask about butter, though, and it did end up tasting a little buttery. This is my second time at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and my impression is that they are extremely conscientious about dietary concerns *if* you mention them. They’ll work with you to prepare something friendly to your needs and will do so without hesitating or stumbling. But you may have to remember to ask. They don’t decorate the menu at Hudson 29 with handy little Vs or anything. My salmon was excellent. Tender and flaky, almost creamy. The couscous balanced it beautifully. Although it didn’t look like a lot of food on the plate when it arrived, it ended up being just right. Finishing up with the bill went smoothly as well. It’s pricy but worth an occasion I’ll need only gentle persuasion To visit again The menu’s a ten So let’s plan our Hudson invasion.

We went to Hudson 29 for a special occasion on Friday. There is a free parking garage attached which was very much appreciated since it is difficult to find street parking. Once inside, the restaurant is very dark in some places which made it difficult for the older people we were with to read the menu. The service was just okay and we switched waiters mid way into our meal so that was odd. Anyway the food-a solid four stars overall. I absolutely loved the crackery-thin crust of the Campari tomato flatbread and the generous amount of juicy tomato. We also got two sushi rolls, King Kong and Hawaii five-o, both surprisingly tiny for the $ 15 price tag. Literally THE tiniest pieces of sushi I have ever seen. The flavor of King Kong was good but the Hawaii five-o had a fishy taste, not the good kind. And again, the roll is the diameter of a quarter. Others at my table got burgers and salads and had no comments one way or another. Overall adequate food and adequate service but I was expecting a better experience from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. This was my second visit with the same outcome. I’ll probably go back because I want to love it so much but it’ll be a while.

Location: On Lane Avenue directly across from shopping mall. Close to OSU campus so a perfect before or after destination for concerts at The Schott, athletic events or shopping. Traffic may be a concern at peak times. Access is easy from 315 or Riverside Drive. Parking: Large covered garage behind restaurant. Signage not obvious but covered garage has inside access to establishment so it’s a plus in bad weather. Parking is free. Ambiance: Restaurant seating surrounds large central bar area. Private rooms available. Large inviting waiting area with fireplace and super comfortable family room feel with couches and chairs. Entering from parking garage is a bit awkward as you have to walk through back dining area. This would be annoying to me if seated in that part of the establishment. Décor is casual chic with leather booths that are roomy and comfortable. Outdoor street front patio dining is also available in good weather and can be enclosed when weather threatens. Has a typical New York old school steakhouse feel about it. Background music is 80s soft to classic rock and well chosen. Booth seating around bar area has view of numerous big screen televisions showing various programming. Private rooms have them as well. Service: Prompt and attentive. Knowledgeable clean cut wait staff. Numerous managers make the rounds as well so you are never waiting long for any kind of attention but not so much it’s bothersome. Food I found the menu limited as far as entrees and appetizers were concerned. The menu is an odd mix of surf and turf, sushi and sandwiches. Entrée pairings are equally offbeat with some great proteins being paired with seemingly out of place compliments like kael, lima beans and couscous. She had salmon, I had strip steak special. Hers was paired with aforementioned couscous mine with an interesting mix of various new potatoes, lima beans(I think), all tossed in a caper vinaigrette that was way too sharp for my tastes. Her plate was basically a huge portion of couscous and a mid sized salmon portion. I ordered my steak medium and the server came back after we ordered to confirm my preference. However, the steak arrived grossly undercooked(cool to the touch internally) and had to be sent back to be prepared correctly. This basically ruined the flavor unfortunately. I also found the cut to be of substandard quality and riddled with gristle in parts. Of the advertised 12 ounces, at best, 6 to 8 were edible unfortunately. Drinks: Wine list was a bit thin but it’s a full service bar. I was a bit surprised that water service was without ice at the table which was annoying. Who likes room temperature water after a few minutes in the glass? While the water is presented tableside in a container that’s opened on the spot, I have little doubt it’s a fancy way of packaging good old tap water and nothing special at all. Nice presentation though! They make a big deal about the house specialty carbonated cocktails but the grapefruit Fresca one I tried was simply awful after just one sip, so I ordered a glass of wine instead. Conclusion: I’m just one reviewer and these are my personal observations but the food does not justify the pricing in my opinion at least where my Entrée was concerned. It’s a beautiful place but you can’t eat ambiance. As part of the Cameron Mitchell empire, this one could use some attention to the food details as much as was paid to the surroundings they are served in got. Just one opinion but many of his other establishments fare much better in my book.

Went here with my fiancé tonight. It was our first time at Hudson. The ambiance was 5 star, the service was 4 star, however, the food is what led to my overall rating. We ordered the trio dip to star off the night. The hummus tasted like typical Sabre hummus. The guacamole had that standard restaurant flavor to it where it tastes all preservativey(chipotle has ruined all other guac for me). Finally, the smoked salmon was actually good and improves the dish greatly. I ordered the hanger steak and enchilada. It was medium rare and it may be the best hanger steak I’ve ever had. It was flavorful and decadent. However, the sides were lacking. The enchilada tasted like it had just come out of the microwave and was nothing special. Moreover, the corn and avocado salad was just plain bland. My fiancé ordered the scallops. I had two separate tastes and the two were not consistent. I would say that for $ 30, that should be a slammin dish. Alas, they were merely acceptable. We each had a glass of wine and I had the bourbon honey mixed drink(pretty good). I know what you may be thinking: «Dave, it didn’t seem that bad, why three stars?» I’ll tell you. It’s because that mediocre meal cost $ 110 plus tip. I would have given this a four star rating had it been a $ 80 meal. However, the flavors don’t justify the cost.

Hudson 29 quickly became one of my very favorite restaurants in Columbus. Everything about this restaurant was on point — great location, easy parking, friendly service, enjoyable ambiance, and, of course, delicious food. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was truly perfect — well-seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. They even got the tiny details right, like using a really quality slice of cheese; additionally, the side of roasted corn and avocado was great. While the price is a little higher than other options, the food and overall experience makes it completely worth it. HIGHLY recommend!

Ate at the bar with my husband and loved it! We split the arugula salad, burger, and French dip. Highly recommend the burger! French dip(like previous comments) is bland. The roll is good and so is the horsy sauce. We got the fries and corn salad as sides. Both were great! And the donuts for dessert. Love the ambiance and the service. Will definitely go back

I feel like people forget about Hudson 29 sometimes but they shouldn’t! A girlfriend and I got dinner here and it was way better than I would have expected. It’s so unassuming just hanging out on Lane Avenue across from Whole Foods Market. The first reason I love it is because I’m a sucker for a good cocktail but am expecting and don’t plan to get tipsy these 9 months. When offered a cocktail from our server, I cheekily said«I’ll take a mocktail» and she smiled and said«absolutely,» then came back with an overly delicious beverage! To start, we got the dip trio which had guacamole, smoked trout dip and hummus — yes, please! It was a sizable dish that could have been shared with a few others(if you’re into sharing). For dinner, I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich which was fantastic. I mostly just restaurants off their cocktails and fried chicken so they’ve been nailing it so far. I’m pretty sure it was brined in pickle juice because it had that vinegary delicious crispness that comes with pickles. I actually saw so many delicious things on their menu that I’ll absolutely be back!

I’ve only been here twice. Once for lunch a while back and yesterday for dinner. My last experience here was a bit disappointing. For appetizers we had the hummus and guacamole and tuna with chips. The hummus was not good, the fish and the guacamole were not bad. We also had the For my main dish, I had the scallops. The salad that came with it was delicious! The scallops themselves varied wildly. A few were delicious, A couple others were a bit chewy and grimy. A few of us shared the chocolate cake with grater’s ice cream. It was quite large, but I didn’t much care for it. The service was at times annoying. The server was polite but he kept clearing our plates before we were done with the appetizers. This was really annoying. I don’t understand the logic and I would have said something except that we were hosting an interviewee here… Anyway, I’m generally happy with Cameron Mitchell restaurants and will give it another try.

I came to Hudson 29 venturing down from Delaware for brunch. I parked in the free parking garage and entered in the restaurant and say at the bar. The bartender came over and took my drink order a spicy bloody mary, garnished with a fresh basil leaf, cherry tomato and fresh mozzarella ball. It was a good bloody. The bartender suggested I order the short rib hash, so I did and it was a great brunch dish with two perfectly poached eggs, fresh chips, pico, tomatillo salsa and lime. Total damage before tip $ 24

My husband and I visited Hudson 29 shortly after they opened, we weren’t fans. It’s been a couple of years so we decided to give them another chance, and we’re thrilled that we did. We started out with the con queso and chips, these were delicious. The queso has a chili in it that makes it superb! The chips have a hint of lime and sea salt, they were also very good. For dinner my husband had the Prime Rib and I chose the French Dip, both were great. The generous potions coupled with the flavorful choices made for a wonderful dinner. Not only was our food delicious but our server(McKinsey) was attentive and friendly and our drinks were mixed perfectly. We are so happy to have given Hudson 29 another chance.

I had a very positive experience on New Year’s Eve at Hudson 29. I was with a larger group of people(7) and received great service. Our waiter was very knowledgable of the menu and was attentive to our needs throughout the entire dinner. Their cocktails are amazing! I tried the Ginger Beer cocktail. It was the perfect amount of sweetness with the rye. For dinner I got the Arugula salad. I would recommend this salad as everything tasted very fresh and the amount of dressing was perfect. I also tried the pepperoni flatbread pizza. It was decent — nothing special about it. I probably would not order it again. However, I would recommend the Surf and Turf sushi roll. I found it to be a unique option compared to traditional sushi rolls. The ambiance is very classy. It would be a great spot for a romantic date night. There is a parking garage behind the building if you can’t find street parking.

Oh, Cameron. You’re killin me, Smalls. I am a fan of your restaurants. I really am. I can go to Cap City any time. Fish Market? Yes, please. The Pearl? I’m in. I had a less-than-stellar experience the last time I went to Martini, but I’m willing to write that off. But my recent visit to Hudson 29 was… strange. Not strange in that the waiters spoke in Pig Latin or the food was served with a side of sawdust, but strange in that I got a vibe from the whole place. A «corporate» vibe. A packaged, market-researched, efficiency-maximized, highly-managed Dining Experience. I just want some cool food, man. Don’t sell me on this House Beautiful glossy-photo-spread thing you’ve got going on with this place. My meal was fine. I honestly had forgotten about what I ate within a few days and had to go look it up. But«forgettable» is not what you should go for and generally not what I get from CM restaurants. The service was attentive. The parking situation was a little difficult to figure out, being that the restaurant shares space with an apartment building and a hotel(I think). Not sure what else to say. I’m not downvoting this place, but I won’t be in any great hurry to return.

Our night started out with drinks and Aaron was very quick to our table. The menu was unique with a lot of choices. My experience of asking the waiter to provide their top three items from the menu proves to me their love for the chef’s ability to provide quality and quantity. Overall, my table was very satisfied with their food. The Hollywood burger was absolutely the best in town and those fries were also wonderful(I ordered a side plate to keep five other sets of hands off mine).

«What does heaven taste like?,» I asked the stars above. Well, I found out on Saturday at Hudson 29. Celebrating the bae’s birthday warranted a restaurant that wowed us, and even on a rainy, chilly night at 830p, H29 was in full swing. We started with the chorizo queso con chips and si si si muy bien! Unlike the paltry chicken-to-soup ratio one might find in a can of Campbell’s, the chorizo in the queso was bountiful. Sinful amount of flavor in this dish. Our server Mike suggested the King-Kong roll to me, a delectable meaty and filling roll with warm scallops and spicy sauce. Amen, brother. I’ve had some questionable sushi lately and this dish alone reminded me that tremendous sushi still exists in this city. Here is what jay says about the French dip: «don’t get the French dip if you’re impartial to French dip, but if you do like it, then this is a good choice. Really flavorful. The corned beef looked equally as good though.» DRAMA. There are so many great dishes. I think the dessert was my favorite part: warm donut upside-down pineapple cake balls lightly fried with a caramel dipping sauce. WHATISTHIS. I could have eaten these until I exploded. The bad thing about restaurants like this is knowing that all other restaurants will henceforth be inferior to this dining experience.

Met up with some friends here the other night and we had a blast! There is a parking garage with ample parking and access to the restaurant through a side door. Follow the arrows to «Reception» to find the host stand. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Service was great and food was fantastic, as were the drinks. I had the French 75 which is a little sweeter than the French 75s I’ve come to know and love, but tasty. I was not feeling meat that night, so went with the caesar salad to start, the black bean burger, and the kale and couscous salad on the side. All were great. I’m going to try to recreate the kale and couscous salad for a family dinner next week. We’ll see how it goes!
