Walked in this restaurant and noticed the smell which was awful. It smelled like a dirty restroom in Tijuana. Next, the waitress offered us something to drink. I ordered a horchata and was immediately told they do not offer refills on them. Ok. I ordered a shrimp fajita burrito. I got back a bean, shrimp burrito. No fajita style whatsoever. It also came with a side of lettuce. Just plain shredded lettuce. BLAND. My total came out to $ 20 and some change. Not worth it at all. Waitress was nice.

Went yesterday with my bf and I thought this place was amazing. I will point out, I only had a plain bean and cheese burrito. That’s my favorite, I keep it simple. But the beans were awesome in my opinion. They had flavor and were creamy. Perfect amount of cheese that was evenly distributed. I live 2 minutes from here, don’t know why I didn’t try it sooner but I will for sure be back! Also, service was great. It was just one lady by herself and she was very nice and made everything perfectly. It wasn’t very crowded, but she still made sure to get to everyone promptly. My boyfriend had a shredded beef wet burrito and loved it as well!

Very reasonable prices, and genuine Mexican food. It’s family owned(at least family run) so something the staff is stretched thin but definitely worth the extra few minute wait. Our favorite go-to for lunch hour

My family and I have been coming here since I was at least 6 years old. We always receive excellent service and great food! Some of my favorites are their carne asada tacos, the taco salad, and the chorizo and eggs.

My son and daughter-in-law told us about the Menudo there. My son and his wife are very picky and they said Jarritos has the best Menudo in town! Well my Dad and mom were in town and we took them and we all ordered the Menudo. Now we go almost every weekend for the Menudo! The chips and salsa are also great!

Ok, here’s the thing. The food was pretty good! When we went in there we were the only people in there. We felt oddly unwelcome, and the service was pretty inattentive considering we were quite literally their only dinner customers. Also the portions are elf size. Fortunately I’m not a big eater. Remember though, the food was really good!

This place is one of my favorite places to go for Mexican food. Me and my family have been coming here for years. Their chips and salsa, especially the salsa is really good. The burritos are really good and their enchiladas are my favorite. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Upland.

I had breakfast there this morning. A solid three star establishment, the service earned the fourth star. The waitress/cook was very kind. We had the enchiladas for breakfast. It was delightful. A couple of over easy eggs on top and tons of cheese, yum. The flavor was great. The chile could have been run through a sieve, but flavor was dead on, authentic Mexican flavor. The rice was bland, and the beans were watered down and on their last leg. We also had the huevos rancheros with green sauce. She could have been more generous with the green sauce, the pork was pushing freshness I skipped it. The chips were better than average, the red arbol chile served with it was outstanding and mild. The restaurant was semi clean, it just looked like they locked the door and left the night before, no one had a chance to wipe things down or put them away. I may try them again, a few hit and misses. The prices were cheap. What was good was really good, other items were fair. The restroom was extremely clean.

Nice and clean restaurant. Good Mexican comfort food. The chips and salsa did not taste homemade. The breakfast is good. Not to salty or plan. They do have manudo on the weekends and you can get it with or without the meat.

Quite disappointed in this establishment. There were 3 of us who went for dinner… and upon entering, we were served a small bowl of chips(about 8 chips total) accompanied by a small bowl of salsa. My friend ordered taquitos– the beef was overcooked(and hard) and small enough for a kid to eat. Another person ordered carnitas– it looked like the cook took a small chunk of the carnitas, shredded it and spread it FLAT out on the plate to make it appear as though it filled the plate; clearly it didn’t. I had an enchilada and taco with rice and beans. Let’s just say the rice/beans were not well cooked, and I’m currently paying the price for it. Never again.

I dont think I have ever given one star to a business, but I had to let the consumer know. This place is just no good. First off, the waitress was rude and made us feel as if we were bothering her. Then for a party of 4 she served us a SMALL basket of chips. We ate them, and when we asked for more, she said it was $ 1.75 a basket! I have NEVER been to a mexican restaurant where they charged for chips and salsa. THe food was also pretty bad tasting. I will NEVER go to this location again.

We have driven by this place a ton since we moved up here and finally drove by near lunch time. We both had the lunch special as they offer a few different ones. I had the 3 taco plate and got one each of chicken, carnitas and carne asada. My BF got the 3 item combo with taco, enchilada and chile relleno. The food was very flavorful and not greasy in any way. His chile had a good amount of spice. I love their salsa, I think it was made with roasted chiles… it was good! The service was good and the waitress was very polite.

I love the chip and salsa here. the salsa is hot and red, just how i like it. I also love thier chicken, it’s tender all white meat and delicious. When i am being good i will order a couple of chicken tacos no cheese and have a nice low cal lunch. All else good here too, not sure why it only has 3 stars. it gets 5 stars for the chips and salsa.

Decided to stop here after I visited the beauty supply store next door, saw they had an A in the window and walked right in. The place is nicely lit, a large dining room, and the waitress greeted us as we walked in and was very nice. I didn’t have time to sit and eat, so we ordered take out. My son loves enchiladas, so he had the #1 combo-two cheese enchiladas(you have a choice of cheese, chicken, or beef), beans and rice. He couldn’t decide on what sauce he wanted, so he ordered one with red sauce, the other with the chile verde sauce. He also ordered a piña colada smoothie. I decided I wasn’t very hungry, so I just got a small Jamaica to drink. We sat outside in the car for a few minutes while he tried his food, and said it tasted great. I was able to get a small piece of the green enchilada, beans and rice before he started yelling about me taking too much. The green sauce was the best I have had in a long time. It had just the right amount of spiciness to it, was a little thin, but flavorful and not too salty. The beans were bland and the rice was still crunchy as if they hadn’t cooked it long enough. I felt that the enchiladas were good enough to go back in and get a second order, but instead of beans and rice, I got a salad. When I got home, my mouth was ready to devour those enchiladas. I opened the box and saw that my enchiladas were no longer hot(it only takes 5 mins to get home). Since I already had a taste of them and knew they were good, I microwaved them and took a bite. There was little to no sauce on them, way too much cheese that I couldn’t even find the tortilla. It was dry and gross. The salad consisted of shredded iceburg lettuce that is probably used for toppings on the tacos, some sliced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a scoop of guacamole and sour cream. No dressing. The chips were good. They seemed to be freshly made, crunchy, no salt. The salsa was probably what you would find in a La Victoria enchilada sauce can from the grocery store. Need I say more? How do you get two completely different meals when they are made literally 5 minutes apart? Sad to say, I will not eat here again.

Maybe 2.5. I am a frequent flyer over at Los Jarritos down the street from this establishment. When I was driving by today, planning to sample the goods at the Village German Deli just to the east, I changed plans to see what this little jar imposter was up to. Maybe they were there first, I don’t know. Doesn’t seem quite as old school as the LJs gang though. Quality and taste-wise, it really doesn’t compare. Not that it is bad or unpleasant. The service was nice, it is clean and warm inside, if a little quiet. The beans were watery, thin, and lacked any depth(ie. fat, salt) to the flavor. The rice was good. The salsa had some building warmth to it, a flavor mainly of dried chilies but nothing to provide ballast, bounce, pop. It was not the sweet, bright, slurpable ambrosia that I consume ravenously at Los Jarritos. The green sauce for the chile relleno and enchilada was also a bit thin, but tasted okay. The chile relleno itself consisted of a stuffed anaheim or new mexico. I took a closer look at the crispy beef taco. It was crispy, pretty good corn tortilla shell. The beef-beef was not bad, the overall item is something I’d order again if I went back, but it still didn’t compare to those tasty-ass beef tacos over at Los Jarritos. Maybe I should’ve asked for a crispy carnitas taco, since El Mariscal de Pantalones over at LJs will scoff at you if you try to ask for anything other than shredded beef or chicken in your crispy taco.

The first time I went I loved it, the second time too. The barbacoa is delicious, the machaca too. But then I went last week and was totally let down. I’m sure it was just a bad day. They were really busy, for the first time ever! It was weird I was used to being one of the only, or the only person there. I was so happy to see that they were busy, so happy to know that I wasn’t the only one that knew about the place. I kept thinking how great it was. I mean in this current economic crisis a lot of places won’t survive… and if no one knows about them they really won’t survive. I began to regain hope that they would stay in business and I could get my machaca here any time, no worries. And then with my to go box in hand I took of. When I got home and started in I quickly realized it was the worst I had ever had. I mean awful! It only happened once so I’ll forgive for now. But we’ll see…
