I’m a senior citizen and recycle artist, supplementing my social security by reselling online. I have been shopping at this store weekly, sometimes twice or three times a week for 3 years. This week I learned that the senior discount, which used to be every day, has now been limited to Tuesdays only. That discount helped my meager profit margins. I’m upset with VV for penalizing it’s seniors, who need this discount. Sure, they can get it on Tuesdays but I know how retail works. When stock has sold down from the weekends, the seniors will be given discounts on the leftovers. Then, the shelves will begin to be replenished. Come on, Value Village. We seniors lost our security years ago, and now we need to try and be entrepeneurs so we can stay in our homes. You are handicapping us. Can’t you afford this daily discount? With free merchandise, You should be able to give us a break.

Value Village has always been consistent for me, no matter where they’re located. My visit was later in the morning on a Wednesday. Store was clean and picked up, aisles not crowded. Checkout was quick and friendly. Great selection of women’s shirts/tops — seemed a lot more varied in quality and styles than other VVs. Great selection of shoes. Prices on furniture wasn’t oitrageous but didn’t find anything I absolutely had to have. Small and uninteresting book section. I purchased a NEW pair of Tom’s for $ 20, a cardigan, and a book. Very happy with my trip and will definitely return.

Some items are worth looking at but the clothes are ridiculously overpriced. Better deals can be had at Old Navy and discount department stores. This store appears well kept, although they do need to work on their pricing structure. I stopped in here on a Monday and the sale they had was 50% off a specific colored tag. Even with that, the prices are better at Goodwill

It’s used stuff, right? This store is pretty decently organized with all the clothes and shoes in the middle and all the other items hanging on walls around the perimeter. I don’t know why this VV seems larger than other because it’s the same size as the one in Lacey, but it just seems larger. One thing that I do like is that there are a lot of clothes even in the mens section which surprises me as most places always have a huge women’s department and barely anything for men. The furniture section is always a major miss, so I would say don’t even bother looking here for furniture. They never have any decent pieces of large furniture. The housewares are also usually kind of picked over as well but somehow they are able to space everything out enough on the housewares shelves to make it look full. There are plenty of knick knacks for crafting and kitchen supplies and animal toys. The video and video game section is getting smaller as the days go by but where that section is getting smaller, the books are getting larger. The people are reasonably friendly as well, but they all seem to be huddle near the front and there isn’t really anyone out on the floor if for some reason you need help. One thing I don’t like that all VV’s have changed is not putting the color of the tag of the day that is on sale in a more visible place. They only put one sign on the entrance door so if you miss it when you’re coming in, you have to walk all the way back to the front to either look for yourself or ask on of the employees. They used to put the color on several of the racks throughout the store. I guess it shouldn’t matter as much as they never have any items on the racks that are the color of the day. They always reorganize the racks so that all the colors are in order, so it’s easier to see how many of the 50% off color are still available after I believe it’s 8 weeks on the rack. I always wonder if they just pull all the ones that are the right color the night before and hold them until the color comes back up on the color wheel or they just retag them with the latest color so that they don’t have to give as many items at 50% off. The shopping center itself is pretty sparsely populated and Value Village is basically the only thing worthwhile in this center.

My sister and i are regulars. We love thrift shopping and always find great deals. Way cheaper than goodwill by far and the set up is nicer! And i love .99cent Mondays!

Good place to donate; the guy receiving my donation was courteous, and though not the most professional looking, gave off a good vibe. This is somewhere I am comfortable donating and dropping off stuff.

This value village is ok. I’ve been here maybe five or six times? But really only walked out once with something and it was one pair if boots. I always expect to find something of good quality, and somewhat in style, but never really do at this VV. which is a bummer because it’s the closest one to me. But you know, my hopes are always high and, «maybe next time…» Keeps ringing in my head. «Maybe next time…»

Other than the caveat that the Value Village chain is privately owned, and the *majority* of the net profits go to the family that owns them, this is a very good store. Good for most things — the one department that is a letdown is furniture, so don’t go just for that. Very strong for women and children’s clothing. Smalls are hit and miss — but when they’ve got ‘em, they’re great. Toys are hit and miss as well. Book department is medium sized and often has good finds. If you are hitting thrift stores in Tacoma, this VV is worth a stop.
