From the outside, and heck, even from inside, Domenic’s doesn’t look like anything special. However, the food was a pleasant surprise, especially for the area. Since moving to Franklin County, we have been disappointed in the quality of dining options, but Domenic’s is a rare bright light. There is room for improvement, but I would send family and friends here in a heartbeat. We arrived just after 4:30pm after an errand at the government center. Walking downtown Union was nice, a cute small town atmosphere. Walking around the corner to the restaurant, it was tucked away and so unimpressive that my heart sank as we walked up. I had wanted Mexican, but my honey chose Italian, so here we were. We walked in and it was nearly empty, but it’s early I told myself, and bonus, we had our choice of tables. Our waitress, while very sweet, was obviously new. She stumbled over the pronunciation of the menu items, and didn’t know the answers to the questions I asked. However, she found out, and I could tell she was trying her best. We started with Toasted Ravioli, well, we meant to, but our waitress came out and told us that it had just come in and would be delayed. I was a little disappointed that this meant they obviously didn’t make them fresh. However, when they finally came out, they reminded me of the ones we had bought in a store on the Hill and made ourself. However, the marinara was by far the highlight. I used the bread to eat all of it. One of the best I’ve ever had. For our main courses, I had the Tony Pesto and my honey had the Nona Maria Pesca. Each came with salad. I got the house salad and my honey tried the Caesar. Both were good, nothing amazing, but I was slightly disappointed that the salad came with the dressing on them and we were not asked what type of dressing we wanted. Luckily, I wanted the house dressing and it was good and not too overly drenched. I really liked the salami strips, it really made the salad more special. Both pastas were yummy. The pesto sauce on mine was definitely creamy, but I loved every bite. My honey’s seafood was well prepared. I am normally not a fan of seafood in pasta, but my honey really enjoyed it, and my test bite was pretty good. Everything was well prepared, well seasoned, and at the perfect temperature. We ordered some cannoli to go which were very good, but the tubes were a bit crunchier than I would have preferred, but still delish! Overall, we were very impressed and if you’re in the area, Domenic’s is worth a visit.
