I have eaten here a few times, and they are usually pretty arrogant and overpriced, sometimes I’m just feeling like that completely Americanized anti-authentic Mexican food, this time I got a bonus in my enchilada a chicken bone poked the roof of my mouth! I don’t recommend this place to anyone who dislikes bones in their food.

EXCELLENT Mexican/American cuisine. Stopped in for lunch and we were quickly seated and drink orders taken. I ordered my usual beef taco and chicken enchilada combo dish. My hubby had the Mexican stir fry. Oh my Gosh, SO much food. No grease and fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Even the mild salsa is too spicy for my woosy taste buds but it had a good flavor and was worth a few minutes of nose blowing. VERY good food, Margarita wasn’t too sour and great service, rates this a 5 Star Mexican/American dining experience. Juan, our waiter, was juanderful. ;)

Horrible service!!! Asked for chunky salsa 3 times, they finally went to get it and decided to stand in plain sight obviously talking about us, and when the waitress brought it to our table she made a comment that if we ate too many chips and salsa we wouldn’t want our dinner. When our food was brought to us they had messed up my husband’s order. When we needed tortillas for our fajitas and refills on our water there was nobody to be found, and when our waiter finally made his way back by us my husband said excuse me to get his attention, the guy stuck his finger up at us too wait and just kept going. NEVERGOINGBACK!!!

Quick, friendly service. Large servings at a decent price. Efficiently refilled my ice tea — didn’t need to ask There are many good reasons this place is busy.

Really tasty, massive portions of Mexican food with the beans and rice and all that you’re used to but El Porton does it better.

Is is authentic? No. Is it cheap, and tasty? Yes. This place will NOT be a good choice if you are looking for high end, authentic Mexican food. If you are looking for a tasty meal, for under ten dollars, the lunch specials are to die for. I miss this place like crazy after moving to LA.

Good service. We ordered the chicken fajita and chicken carnitas. Waited 15 mins. The chips is tasty not greasy, the salsa was ok. The dishes are pretty large. We couldnt eat all.

It’s hard to believe I’m the first person writing a review for El Porton. When I first moved to Yakima everyone talked about it being one of the best Mexican places in town. I finally got around to having a meal there and was not disappointed. They had a wide selection of drinks and food and everything was great. I had the mushrooms appetizer and the chicken in cream sauce. It was decadent. I ordered the Porton coffee — it had a good amount of alcohol and was warm and tasty. The service was wonderfully friendly. They did let my water glass go dry but we also stayed almost an hour past closing and they were very kind about it. I will definitely be returning.

El Porton… fast, friendly service. They let you actually eat with not interupting every 5 minutes…
