Let me start by saying I’m a fan of L&L, been many times, and the one near my house is always spot on. However, this location doesn’t do the name justice. Had the bbq beef plate, and the beef was so salty it was inedible. The macaroni salad looked like it had been sitting out for a while, as the mayo had started to separate on the top. It was room temperature(gross) and a bit of oil had built up under the lid. I couldn’t eat it, had to return the food, and it made me lose my appetite. Floor was sticky from some soda spill, and the place did not smell like a good Hawaiian bbq spot. Will not be returning. Save your time and money and go to Ono Hawaiian bbq on whipple Rd.

The stars are just for the short ribs I always get. For some reason, I love them haha it’s sometimes too oily but still good. The cashier was so weird. It was like she was high or something. She couldn’t count $ 9.55 properly. She first gave me $ 5 then I said I’m missing change and she was like no i gave you the right one and then she counted with her fingers. Not to be rude and all but getting $ 9 cash should be easy enough. Then she kept twitching when giving me change. Just a weird experience overall. Will still come back for the ribs haha

2 stars at best, barely edible. There are a ton of great mom and pop real Hawaiian restaurants in the Bay, but I was in a rush and there was no line(for a reason). Got the $ 10 seafood combo platter w: Mahi Mahi that was fried and really lacking any flavor or texture other than soggy fried. Butterfly shrimp which also had no flavor BBQ beef, the only real edible dish, but definitely not great. French fries, soggy and flavorless gump. Also asked if they had Unilocal Eat24 online ordering and they didn’t, a shame. Probably never coming back.

I’ve been coming here for years. The food is always good. But the service I received today was horrible. The lady taking my order was rude and talked to me as if I didn’t have an education. She didn’t greet me at the register and seemed bothered that I was ordering food. No complicated orders or anything. Just my normal chicken Katsu. They need to bring back the orginal lady, she was always kind and had a good attitude. It’s sad for me to give this review because I am a local. I heard from people sitting next to me mumble the same thing on how she was rude to them as well and how she had messed up their order. I hope next time if I come in the service will be better. Shoutout to the cooks for always waving at me and making great food. *she just passed me with this look of disgust and confusion*.

I’m honestly only giving them stars because the food is good! But the cashier seriously needs to work on her attitude. We get it you hate your job, but please don’t be rude to people who have no idea what’s going on. Go for the food but don’t be surprised when the cashier is just flat out rude.

The stars are strictly for the food, nothing else. The chick working the register was a total bitch! Black long hair, heavier set. We came in and she didn’t even greet us, just stood there and starred until we ordered. But then when another person comes in after us, she goes«hello how are you». Also, Eating behind the counter for everyone to see, and being hella rude when I’m ordering my food saying«speak up I can’t hear a word you’re saying». Well here’s an idea. Maybe you should stop chewing your food so loudly so you can hear me. I’ve never been so disgusted, it was so off putting.

Was not all that impressed. Average tasting food and the service, if you want to call it that was OK. Why is it that when you run a debit or credit card at a place like this it has a place to give a tip before you get your food? They don’t really do anything other than take your money, give you a number and even if you are eating there, they stand at the register and call your number out when your food is ready, you then walk back up to the register and get your own food. I am guessing they want a tip for giving you what you already paid for, before you even eat it. Back in the day, Tip stood for(To Insure Promptness) and it was based on service, food quality and over all satisfaction. Guess I am getting way too old or its that damn new math they must be using.

The food is yummy but why are they sooo SLOW at this location and a bit rude too. I knew I should have had dinner somewhere else when I walked in and saw 4 or 5 people standing near the register with receipts in their hand. We came here around 8pm and waited between 20 and 25 min for our food which was 1 order of chicken Katsu to share and 2 pc musubi. Bonus: when I asked the young Asian cashier about the wait she was kind of snappy! Come on, all I did was politely ask how much longer. Gave them one more chance, walked in tonight Monday at 5pm and this time I timed it. 1 order Loco moco and 1 order chicken Katsu. Waited 18 min. Not coming to this location anymore.

I come here every now and then out of convenience. When I do come I always order the chicken katsu with all rice. It’s tasty not like the ones back in Hawaii but I usually feel satisfied afterwards. However, I ordered to go and when I got home they forgot to put the chicken katsu sauce inside. My fault for not double checking at the same time it is their job to make sure I get everything in the bag, forks, napkins, etc. they managed to remember everything else BUT the sauce. Maybe I shouldn’t be reviewing this place right now since it just happened but I literally had a long day and barely eating lunch at 4:30PM, you just hope things go smoothly. I understand mistakes happen but I would have rather them forget forks and napkins then the main part of the meal. Cmon now.

This location is starting to get pretty run down, even the food doesn’t seem to be up to other L&L locations. Staff were alright tho, no complaints there. Portuguese sausage musubi in particular seemed a little lacking, and the macaroni salad seemed to have an excess of chicken in it or something else a little off. That said, can’t complain for some reason… some days you just crave Hawaiian-style macaroni salad and spam musubi!

Lady at the front is hella rude, she irritated me with her attitude. But it’s not like I’m going to yell at her because there’s a high chance she might get those cooks to spit in my food! Owned by Asians, I think Koreans, all of them have attitude or gives you these dirty looks. They all talk in their language and judging by their facial expressions, and body language I’m pretty sure they be talking sh*t about the people that come in. Like wtf, how are you going to get mad me for coming to eat at your establishment! Really bad, never coming back. Do not go here! Go somewhere else! Go to Ono off of Whipple. The food is practically the same and the service there is 100% better.

I came in to place an order. The place was empty, only the cook that could be seen from behind the counter was there. We locked eyes after I had looked around for an available associate to take my order. After 2 minutes of wandering eyes, checking to see if someone was going to come from around the corner, storage, outside to take my order no one came. The cook didn’t even call anyone out to the register where I was waiting. So I walked out. My impression on the place was that it was filthy. The tables and chairs were in disarray, the cook didn’t look very tidy– he was sweating and didn’t have a hair net and the service was non-existent.

Chicken bowl for $ 6 is value deal. Comes with rice and plenty of brocally. But beef bowl was just bad. Meat was overcooked and old.:(

As my other fellow Unilocalers, I agree about the service. I called to place my order & didn’t sound to pleasant. Even when I picked up my order, she didn’t look too happy. I’ve been so many times & the service has been inconsistent. The place is huge! But whenever I come by, it’s always empty. It’s been around since I was in high school & it was the go to place. But now, it’s kinda like a ghost town. The food is good. I always get the chicken katsu & the spam masubi. The breaded chicken is crispy & chicken is always tender. The macaroni salad has a bit too much mayo. The rice is always well done. I usually substitute it for fries. The fries are a bit thick for me though so I leave it for my niece who always enjoys it. I come here when I don’t know what to eat or when I want something quick.

This is the best L&L I have been to. I have been to a lot and it is even better than the ones in Hawaii. The portions are always huge. I don’t know why but I will not complain. I feed 4 – 6 people on 2 to go plates. Every one is friendly as well.

My boyfriend and I got hungry after we dropped off a package at the ups store. When we walked in, I got a bad vibe from the cashier, she looked careless and looked like she didn’t want to be their at all. She looked like she was on crack or something, and she wasn’t happy when we ordered. We only ordered one BBQ chicken with all rice, for both of us to share. She gave us the look. They need to improve on their customer service, After ordering our food, my boyfriend tried to go to their restroom, however all their restrooms are out of order! WTF?! So if you need to use the restroom, make sure you go before you come here or else you’ll just have to hold it in. This place is a dump, they need to really renovate this place to make it more appealing to customers. This place is pretty big, so a lot of space is being wasted. Finally, we got our food. Thankfully, they did not mess up our order and our food was hot! We doubled checked to make sure that our chicken was cooked properly, and it was done perfectly. They gave a lot of rice which was a bonus and I liked how they layered the bottom with rice and topped it off with my BBQ chicken. It gave my rice some flavor. YUMMIE! Overall, this place isn’t that bad. But I prefer going to a different L & L because I don’t think this place is that clean. From what I see, this place looks dirty. I don’t want to know how the kitchen looks if customers can’t see it. But the food here is really good, not bashing on them, they just need to improve on their customer service skills.

Been here a few times… food is mediocre. Customer service is ok. Food is ok and cooked to order but no wow factor. My favorite is only chicken katsu. The sauce is good. The chicken is a lot and crispy. The macaroni salad is good but there are times there is too much mayo. The BBQ short ribs are ok but not crispy like BBQ should be. The BBQ beef has a lot of fat. The spamasubi is pretty good but too much rice. This restaurant is actually big because it goes in the back for large groups or party. Most likely, I will be back but for the katsu only.

After being introduced to a chicken katsu loco moco while in Vegas, I just couldn’t get it off my mind. That’s where L&L came into to the picture to fill that void! I knew that L&L didn’t have this on their menu, so I just had to customize my loco moco. No other Hawaiian BBQ shops around this area does special orders with their plates. I ended up getting an order to go since I was picking up food for the rest of my family. If you’d like to try the chicken katsu loco moco, just order the regular chicken katsu. Then order two sunny side up eggs with the order. Then just get the brown gravy on the side. BOOM!
