Every time I am up from San Jose I have to go here to eat. Love the new décor, Daniel’ idea of adding the masks was great. Great food and great people.

Overall: tasty, friendly, and clean. I would give it probably a 3.5…but you know, only whole stars on Unilocal. My husband and I each ordered a taco platter(mine, carnitas; his, chicken) which includes one taco, rice, refried beans, a scoop of guacamole, lettuce, and a dollop of sour cream. We both found the tacos to be solid, but nothing extraordinary. Our tacos, rice, and beans were served nice and hot(as in, temperature hot) which was highly appreciated. The carnitas in my taco was pretty tasty and I probably could have scarfed down two tacos. The guacamole and lettuce were both fresh and cool, which offered a nice contrast to the rest of the warm dish. Neither of us can comment on the sour cream as we’re both lactose intolerant. Note for anyone ordering refried beans: they come topped with cheese. Not a huge problem for us as the cheese was minimal and easy to take off. And if you love cheese, you’ll be pleased! Chips and salsa were decent. The chips seem to have been freshly cooked but possibly earlier in the day as ours were a tiny bit stale. Salsa was had a tiny bit of kick, but nothing unbearable.

I don’t understand how this place ends up with such good ratings. This is not very good Mexican. I hang out with a lot of Mexican people and eat a lot of Mexican food and I’m here to tell you that this is more Americanized Mexican food than I can take. Not only is it not authentic but is seriously over priced. $ 3.95 for a taco ! Yes that’s for ONE taco ! About $ 11.00 for one item with rice and beans ! The rice is very bland, one bite was enough. The salsa tasted like a can of tomatoes, no flavor. It’s a serious disappointment.

It was underwhelming, and over all deserves a three star. Now the high point was absolutely the service. Fast friendly and happy to replenish the chips and salsa. Which was the other high point, fresh chips and a unique cabbage jalapeño pico paired with a nice red salsa. I have never seen a chili relleno burrito so it was a fun to try out something new, but being wrapped up and smothered in beans you loose the nice texture of the outside. So main dishes were defiantly average. Also tried the margaritas… Sad to say what I drank was not a margarita. Tasted like a bad canned drink poured over ice. Good, not great, could be better.

I’ve been here twice. I got the carnitas plate, and it’s always great. My only issue is price and portion. They’re more expensive than others Mexican restaurants, but you get what you pay for. And the portions are smaller. You’ll spend an extra 3 – 4 bucks, I think

I continue to be pleased with both the food and the service. As a downtown spot to meet it is great sit outside and and nibble on my Taco Salad.

Yikes. I think I just had the worst burrito I have ever purchased at an actual Mexican restaurant. While the staff was friendly, that did nothing to save the disaster that awaited me in my to go bag. The carnitas«super» burrito I ordered went something like this: 1) Tortilla that was dry as hell 2) Carnitas that was so dry I literally opened the burrito up because I was concerned that what I was eating was not carnitas at all… 3) The«super» part of the burrito, which usually means everything(guacamole, cheese, sour cream,) was«super» hard to find. Only scant(i’m not exaggerating) evidence of their existence could be established 4) The tomatoes that were included in the burrito had a vague banana-like flavor, which made me wonder if they somehow stored their tomatoes next to the fruit for their agua frescas… strange, but true. 5) For almost $ 9, I had to laugh at the minuscule proportions of the burrito. While I am not a competitive eater, nor do I expect my burritos to come out on a flatbed truck, I would expect a decent sized burrito for that price point. 6) I didn’t bother finishing the burrito. Why would I? I hate to be harsh, but the fact that Eddie’s Cocina would let product leave their restaurant like that warrants a decent scolding, and says more about them than me. Competition in this town for Mexican food is stiff, so Eddie’s seriously needs to up their game.

My family was passing through Ukiah on vacation and stopped for dinner. We are Mexican food snobs and were very pleased with this unassuming quaint restaurant. All food was prepared fast and fresh. The cabbage salsa was a great change from the usual tomato based salsas. My only complaint is that we probably will never be able to visit again because we live so far away.

WOW. First off, I have given five stars to other places in Ukiah that I believe deserve them, but if I could give Eddie’s Cocina 10 stars I would. My boyfriend and I went to lunch there for the first time today. I am very picky about my Mexican food, but I decided to give this place a try. First off, we were greeted immediately by a very friendly woman who got our drink orders right away. Our drinks came quickly, she gave us time to look over the menu, asked if we had any questions and helped with our ordering. Chips and salsa were brought to the table within minutes. Food was delivered to our table fast, hot and the presentation was incredible. The food was so good, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place at all. Prices were great. Food was the best Mexican food, or really restaurant food in Ukiah, I have ever had. Actually, probably the best Mexican food I have had hands down. Service was outstanding. Woman taking our orders was so incredibly nice and welcoming, it made us feel so comfortable! Place was clean, and portions were huge. I will be a frequent visitor of this place. A+, 10 stars. Well done.

Excellent quality Mexican food, prepared by a family-owned establishment! Wonderful service — as soon as my husband and I walked in we were greeted and seated by Eddie. The crispy homemade chips served with traditional salsa and a spicy cabbage salsa are addictive! I ordered a steak taco with side of fluffy rice and beans. Really tender and juicy cuts of meat, seasoned to perfection. My husband ordered a burrito and Eddie suggested to have it topped with red sauce and melted bubbly cheese — Yum! I’m on a gluten free diet and she was very helpful and knowledgeable with the menu. My husband can’t wait to try their milanesa. We will definitely be back — a true gem in Ukiah!

Eddie’s has the best cabbage salsa, rellenos, huevos rancheros, tamales, tostadas and service in California. I’m sure everything else is just as good but why mess with perfection. Just great food and wonderful people. Thanks Ettie and Espie!

Searched Unilocal for Mexican restaurants in Ukiah. Eddie’s came up. First of all I have to say that the staff here is very friendly and welcoming. The woman who helped wait on us was so genuinely sweet —-the kind of person who could be your new friend or the kind of person you wish you had for a relative instead of _____________. We ordered : Guacamole Chicken flautas(made with flour tortillas) that came with beans and rice Veggie burrito. Everything was tasty and homemade. The restaurant is small(sets around 30?) I loved seeing all the families. Everyone was having fun and enjoying their food.

Eddie is a sweet hostess and friendly. They make consistently wonderful Mexican food. They are usually very prompt at getting the orders out. My husband and I compare all of the Mexican food we get to Eddie’s. Usually, the conversation goes something like, «it would be better at Eddie’s». Eddie’s Cocina is the kind of place that you have to be a local to know about it. On warm days, you can sit outside and eat. My fav is Chicken Tosada. It serves as a meal for me. All the sauces are made there. I love their cabbage salsa(I don’t know the real name, but it comes with the chips and salsa). When you want some good Mexican food, served small town style, go to Eddie’s.
