What can you say about a Chinese buffet. It is what it is. And what it is, is batch cooking with MSG and holding it hot for buffet use. It’s not terrible food and service picks up dirty plates fast. Plus you can dish out your food the second you walk in, good if your in a hurry, but all in all not a place to frequent.

Take out a little pricey. Lunch buffet reasonable prices, mostly chicken based. Dinner time oysters on half cell and crab legs o weekends

The food is great and, unlike other Chinese buffets in Ukiah, they keep their buffet well stocked. The wait staff is prompt in picking up your used plate and the staff is friendly.

The food wasn’t as bad as it was said to be, actually the coconut chicken was really good as well as the friendly if not very courteous staff and they let us stay later than 9:30 and overall I felt welcomed to be there. Only I feel there should be a wider selection of food but overall Would go again. Would recommend

Went to lunch buffet. I have to say there is clearly a language barrier here. Many choices, but all seem to be chicken the food was decent some good some bad.

«Okay» is a fitting description of the whole restaurant. Waiters were accommodating, however, for our large group.

As I’m sitting here eating, I’m facing the buffet which I probably shouldn’t have, I’m noticing the people that touch the buffet tongs haven’t bothered washing their hand first. Kids touching everything. Ugh! Now I’m thinking way to much about this. Probably shouldn’t have ate here.

It was something I craved a lot during my last pregnancy… I wish they would switch it up sometimes and try something new but whatever. I won’t be returning anytime soon, the last time I ate there I got sick from their sushi bar. No thanks.

It’s not the best buffet restaurant I’ve been to but this is the only buffet place in Mendocino county so you don’t have that much of a choice there if you crave for Chinese buffet. The atmosphere is nice; they have fancy chandeliers on high ceilings and plenty of booths and tables. Lighting is clean and they keep the place pretty clean overall. The food is alright; definitely not comparable to the buffet restaurants in te Bay Area but they do have a good variety and the food itself is pretty flavorful. The price is fine — $ 13 or something like hat per person for dinner. Come here if you crave for Conde buffet but just don’t expect too much out of it and you’ll have a good experience.

Took mom there for Mother’s day dinner and both of us got sick with nausea and vomiting. I am blaming the raw oysters and sushi fish. Mom asked for a cup hot water(like every other elderly Chinese person would). The waiter brought it in a plastic cup. That is restaurant services 101, you do not serve hot water in a plastic cup! More variety than some of the Chinese buffet places I have frequent. Not coming back here anymore.

The food was mediocre, in some case hot dishes Luke warm to cold. I’ve eaten there three times now, each time hoping they had improved but after each meal I left with some uncomfortable stomach rumblings.

Not going to be going back to this place for a long while. Bait and switch during national holidays, they replace the Lunch menu($ 7.99) with the Dinner menu($ 11.99) and didnt say a single word until we were done eating. No adequate signs, and no customer care from the impolite staff when our party pointed out they deceived us. Told people walking in about the price swap, they walked out. Watch it when you come here, the customer is clearly not their business goal. Excuses given by the kid at the register: «We advertised in the paper!» — uh yeah, and who from my generation still reads the paper and not their iPad? She also pointed at the pathetically small holiday calender and explained the«Dinner menu all day» means marginally better items for 50% more price. I’ll spend my money elsewhere thanks!

Bizarre mix of Chinese, Japanese and American food — where else can you get sub-par sushi, reheated Chinese food and cheap poorly made pizza? Although we were in late, after the dinner rush, so I think their Chinese food would probably be better if you showed up earlier when it hadn’t been sitting for while. I will give them credit, they really figured out the Ukiah demographic. Low price for all you can eat and mixed menu. There were a couple of impressive dishes actually, particularly one of the shrimp dishes(not pepper shrimp or coconut shrimp, not sure what they called it.) Good egg rolls. The bbq pork was also good. Some other patrons were complimenting the orange chicken, not my dish but I tried a piece and it was ok. On the flip side, their cold cocktail shrimp were disgusting — they seemed to have dumped out a bag of frozen shrimp with some lemon slices and let them thaw into a soggy mess. Their sushi was slightly scary, and they didn’t have anything without fake crab stuffed into it. They also charged per cup for tea with cheap teabags, which kills me since a good cup of tea is one of my favorite parts of going to a Chinese restaurant. We’ll probably be back on occasion because my husband is a sucker for a soft serve ice cream machine. :)

Good buffet for a reasonable price. $ 8 for lunch, $ 12 for dinner. Try the coconut chicken. Sushi was not bad either. Good service and clean.

Watch out if you have a problem with MSG. I asked one of the workers, who could speak some English, if they used MSG. She said that there was a little in the sauce mix in some of the Chinese dishes, and she waved her hand over some of the dishes. She said it wasn’t in the Japanese foods. We were there on Friday, at 1 pm. It was hard to find a seat(kind of rare for a restaurant in Ukiah). The booth we sat in, looked good, but was flimsy. Since I have a sensitivity to MSG, I tried to avoid the Chinese dishes. They had fresh crab prepared in a way I hadn’t had before that was yummy. I did have a slight reaction to the food. It may have been the sweet and sour soup(yummy), but it may have had the MSG. If they labeled their food, so people could tell which foods had MSG, I would give them a 4.

Asia Grand Buffet now has labels letting customers know if food is vegetarian! I went again, and like last time there was definitely still the language barrier. However, there were some employees it was possible to talk to, which I hadn’t experienced on my first visit.

This place had decent food, not the best selection ever, but good for Ukiah. The buffet is not organized at all, with desert items mixed in with the savory foods. Also a very odd selection of american food — tonight there was mashed potatoes, gravy, french fries, and pizza. Everything else was Asian. All the vegetable items were really delicious! Sushi was all gone, but there was a guy behind the counter and I requested a veggie roll — he made it fresh for me and it was delicious. Overall, pretty good for the price and the area.

Mostly generic, funky or even bad food for a great price. Lots of selections so you will find something to enjoy. Baked salmon, fresh fruit, steamed rice, veggie dishes and other items can allow a person to make some healthy choices. There is a place like this in Santa Rosa, Fu Zhou Chinese near the downtown mall on Mendocino. So many of the dishes are the same as well as the format that I think it is the same owners. Servers were really friendly and attentive and they were good about refreshing the buffet line. For just opening they are doing really well with being organized and on top of things. Offered is ‘to go’ by the pound. Sushi was rolled nice but the fish was oh so bad– maybe they should just do Ca. rolls, Smoked Eel and something else safe and sane that won’t make me worry about parasites. Some odd smells were noticed like icky seafood or something when I first arrived. I didn’t find any dishes that made me go ‘wow’ but nothing was bad either. What they lack in quality you can make up for in quantity so I suspect this place will do very well in today’s tough economy. So charge up your 1,000lb rated power scooter and roll on down for grub time. I think one adult dinner with tax was under 12 bucks. I promise to update with actual prices soon. Update: Dinner $ 10.99 Lunch $ 7.99 Lunch ends at 3. Weekends the dinner goes up a buck, I don’t know for what– Crab legs?
