I have to agree with the reviewers who enjoyed this restaurant. My server was always on top of it(except when she forgot my lemonade, but then she had it right out to me in less than a minute after a gentle reminder). The food was tasty(I had the small fried catfish dinner, which was more food than I could eat), the lemonade tasted fresh-made, and the price was right. The slaw is the finely-chopped variety, which I like, and had a nice vinegar bite with its sweetness. The pinto beans were very nicely seasoned, and a dash or three of Tabasco made them a perfect complement to the deep-fried and corn-breaded fish filets scattered on top of french fries(so-so) and a couple of hushpuppies(which seemed like overkill). The cocktail sauce tasted odd, as did the tartar sauce, but there was nothing wrong with either — I think it’s just a flavor blend I’m not used to. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the mood for some Southern fried seafood.

Excellent catfish and gumbo. Service is usually pleasant if not well trained. One of our«go to» places for a family dinner out.

Great service and food. Several of us(10) met there and all ordered different dishes. And everyone complimented the food. The shrimp, all styles, was the biggest hit. I usually stay away from southern warm water fish, but orded the blackened catfish and it was very tasty, cooked perfectly.

We’ve eaten here more times than I can count food is consistently good. I love the grilled or fried catfish! Also like the two size options of the chicken fried steak or chicken. Usually short to no wait except on Sunday’s when it can he busy! Alcoholic beverages are average nothing to write home about! Prices are very reasonable.

So I’m visiting Tyler for the weekend and I’m sooo hungry. I wanted to visit somewhere that we don’t have in Houston and we found this place. The food was AMAZING! The service was fast. We came in around 3:30 and were seated immediately. Ordered the Cajun gumbo and fish and shrimp with mixed veggies. I wasn’t expecting it to be really good because they didn’t have a lot of cars outside. It was delicious! This will definitely be my spot every time I come to Tyler!

Service was top-notch. I drink a ton of water and our waiter always made sure my glass was full. Not overbearing, super friendly. Food was good — mostly fried. Great value too.

From my experience, service was horrible. Went to a class reunion that was set in the patio. Yes it was a lot of people but that shouldn’t excuse the service Nobody checked in to see if I wanted to order or to check if I needed a refill. Being that I’m not a fan of seafood I just went with a burger. Not the best place to get a burger from Went to the bar and the bartenders looked like they were«busy» but not much was going on from what I could see. Needless to say, I won’t be going back. Only came here since this was the venue that was chosen

I went here for dinner on Friday night. No wait but it was starting to get crowded. We started with their«world famous onion rings.» It was okay. Light and crispy batter served with ranch. On to the dinner. I ordered the bowl of gumbo and a side salad. The gumbo is better than anything I could make but doesn’t compare to gumbo in Louisiana. The salad was a side salad with all the toppings. Tomatoes, eggs, bacon bits, cheese, it was a steal for $ 2.95! My bf ordered the fried platter. He got catfish, oysters, shrimp and it came with fries, hushpuppies, rice and coleslaw. It also was ok. Overall, the food was decent. Our waitress, Victoria was awesome. Super sweet and checked on us several times. For dessert, I tried the banana pudding. It was decent but the bananas at the bottom were brown. I know, it’s hard for it not to be. It wasn’t overly sweet which I liked. Overall, food was average and service was great.

They have really good onion rings. The catfish was good, but not the best I’ve ever had. Still, it was good. The waitress was pretty awesome. Overall, we enjoyed it.

Service was great, got shrimp trio. The fried shrimp were god but the grilled shrimp did not taste fresh. Even the tea tastes like it had been sitting around for days. Most of my food including the hush puppies were inedible.

I have heard how good their burgers are here. I love a good hamburger and am always looking for one, especially in Tyler. I walk in the«saloon» part of the restraint to sit at the bar. Friendly bartenders and two hd tvs up playing the ball game. The bar has a full liquor set up and pretty decent/basic beer selections. Not a fan that they don’t have draft, but I ordered a bottle lone star and looked over the menu. Everything you’d probably expect from a restaurant like this. The burger options were pretty basic with hamburger, basic cheeseburger and a special burger they have with onion rings bacon and bbq sauce on it with all the veggies. I decided to go with the bacon cheeseburger all the way with mayo and mustard and substituted the fries for onion rings. Granted it wasn’t busy when I came in, but the food came out rather quickly. The burger looked great and so did the onion rings. The onion rings were perfect. No skin on the onion and the batter was just right. Great flavor. The bacon cheeseburger was excellent. Everything tasted extremely fresh from the veggies to the meat. The bacon added to the flavor as well. I would definitely say this is one of the best burgers Tyler has to offer. I give it four stars instead of five because they did not have draft beer and with ordering two lone star beers plus my meal, the price was a little more than expected. Even tho the crowd was slow at the time, I’m not a fan of the staff talking negatively about things at work while I can hear them. Still a great meal and will be back again.

We are sitting here eating now. The food was delish but our waitress is horrible. Very bad service. Luckly the male servers walking by were happy to refill drinks etc. If not i believe the only time the waitress would have come was we we ordered and to give the bill.

I’m still sitting in the restaurant wishing I had saved room for their cobbler but I ate every bite of the amazing chicken fried steak along with some of the fried crawfish tails that my daughter ordered. AMAZING food at reasonable prices. After reading a review where the manager responded regarding military discount, I asked if they offer the discount and was told if I ask for Evan, he would provide 20% discount if I present my military ID. Definitely will be back for the crawfish & the cobbler!

Wow, the onion rings were awesome! They have some great fried fish and fried food in general. Will be back there. Reasonable prices.

I really really like the Chicken Ella. It was delicious! My mom, dad, fiancé and I all had completely different meals and all enjoyed them. Have been back a few times and still get the same dish, maybe just maybe I will try something different next time: P

We eat there quite often and the food is always great. I have but one thing that I would love to see available. A military discount. Numerous restaurants in my area off some sort of military discount. I wish Clear Springs was one of them.

This is a good place for a big group. We had a party of about 15 and they sat us at a big table. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with mashed potatoes, corn and Texas toast. I also stole a bite of my husband’s burger, which was good. Our server was very nice, and she made sure we all had full drinks. I haven’t tried many places in Tyler, so I can’t comment on whether you should eat here over somewhere else, but it was a decent meal.

My sister and I had several choices when it came to food as it was our first time visiting Tyler. One of the local dealer from the show suggested that my sister and I ate at restaurants on 69/Broadway as she told us that the whole strip was dumped with great tasty restaurants. We didn’t hesitate to agree with her, so we Unilocal searched our choices and narrowed down our search to fresh catfish and seafood. The very nice thing about this place was that we arrived at 9:37 pm, hint here they close at 10 pm. I was pretty skeptical as I walked in to hear the hostess tell us that we came too late and that they were closing their doors. Although, I was wrong! When we walked in, the hostess asked for our party number and she asked if we’d like to sit in a booth or regular seating. I said no to the booths thinking she was going to seat us in the wooden booths, but my sister insisted that we sit in the booths. There she was walking us to our booths that was padded with cushion. whew thank you! As we sat down trying to figure out what we wanted to eat. A nice lady named Tiara(our waitress) came to ask us what we wanted to drink. I simply said sweet tea because we live in the south and that we were in a country town. My sister ordered a soda. As time went by, we both ordered. I got the Little Buddy and my sister got the Fried Catfish because that was what they are known for. As we waited patiently for our food, we of course talked about the theme of the restaurant and snapped pictures for Unilocal. The food then came out and we began to munch on our meal. I tell you what – the catfish was so delicious I was praying in my head that they would bring this restaurant to Houston. It wasn’t greasy nor was it chewy like it was bad. It was so good it tasted like it was from the ocean. it bet the chefs had already added a dash of lemon juice on it to bring out the flavor. The fries weren’t greasy nor were they too salty. They were just right and those pinto beans wow, they tasted kinda like mines, but better. All of the seasonings sitting in that bowl was over whelming good. I could actually see the spices in the bowl of beans. That is always a good indicator in my book. The hash puppies were tasty – to me it tasted like they added a little of jalapeño pepper in it for more flavor. I did experience a kick it the puppies. Now, the only thing that I didn’t taste was the coleslaw, so I can’t speak about it. I absolutely love the theme of this restaurant and you know what gets me is? That the vintage things that they have on the walls doesn’t have a nasty odor like most places I’ve been to. I actually didn’t smell anything wrong in this restaurant. I tell you what – Tiara was an awesome waitress. She was a plus 100 to the 1,000 power meaning she was nice, sweet, attentive, and earned her tip. I like her. I really hope that my sister and I visit this restaurant again. I liked it a whole lot!

Okay, this place is definitely growing on me. The first visit — the catfish — was sort of «meh». The service was friendly and reasonably efficient, but the food just didn’t bowl me over, so to speak. True to my word, I went back. This time I had a cup of Jalapeño-Crawfish chowder, and it’s to die for! Also had the grilled fish tacos(mega-yummy). Again, the service is friendly and efficient. I will definitely visit again before I go back home — I’ve heard rumor the gumbo is good, and I want to try a few other items. I may also try the catfish again — see if it’s really«meh» or if it’s more«me». One question — why no beer on tap??? I would really like a draft beer here. Also. if you have to have bottled only, I’d really like to see an option for Corona Light or Heineken Light. If I’m on the road drinking bottled beer, I prefer Corona or Heineken, but I’d also prefer light beer, so I can enjoy 2 – 3, instead of a single. I know those aren’t the most popular light beers — but I bet you’d sell enough to keep it around. Finally… I would LOVE fried Okra. Okay, I’m not from the South. So when I’m here, I need my catfish, fried okra, and country-fried steak fix. Add the draft beer, or the light beer, and and the okra, and this place would definitely be in four-star territory.
