Yoshi

This place is actually called «Maki Yaki,» not «Yoshi.» Food’s alright, not bad but nothing stood out.

Great sushi. Very fresh. Wait staff is clueless. I don’t think they have ever eaten out. They need to brush up on their serving skills. We go there anyway because the sushi is really good.

Now this place is true find! Great sushi, Great combo plates, but i love the Sumi Salad! Take the time to find this Gem. Most people head over to yogurtland and miss this place, don’t be one of them. Find it NOW!!!

This is exactly where Maki Yaki once was located in a tiny strip mall between Card Lock Fuel on the South side and another tiny strip mall with Blockbuster Video, Yogurtland and Tustin Pizza Company to the North. I imagine the owners ditched the franchise to go solo and they came up with «YOSHI — Japanese Fast Food, Teriyaki & Roll». It’s the full name on their sign as well as their take-​out menu.
Although they’d probably like you to get your food to go here, they do have a small dining area with seating for maybe no more than 15 inside. You order at the counter and take a seat to wait for your freshly prepared meal. Fresh is best so I like Japanese food better than some Chinese places that have prepared dishes in warming trays. Nothing on their regular menu is more than $ 9.50. They also have a white board with the daily specials as well.
I ordered Monday’s combo special — the Chicken Teriyaki bowl which comes with a drink. My son ordered Chicken Udon, California Roll (8 pieces and all their rolls automatically come with a small salad with miso dressing) and a Coke. Since we dined in, were also got free refills on the Coke. I was a little jealous because my son had three great looking items to eat while I just had a simple bowl, but I soon got over it. My bowl was pretty good and I finished the entire thing which is rare for me. Their chicken was moist and tender yet still had char marks. The damages were $ 20 and some change for two people with drinks which was fine by me.
Fast, fresh and delicious. What more could you want for lunch?
