Our doctor called ahead to the ER so we’d get instant admission for our infant daughter who had a serious infection. When we got there, they had no idea what we were talking about. When we finally got into a room(almost three hours later), it became quickly apparent the ER staff had no idea what was going on in their unit. People kept coming in to clean or for something else and were surprised to find us there. We were finally admitted into hospital 6 or 7 hours later. It took them 3 or 4 days to get lab results that told them the diagnosis of our pediatrician(that they had so incredulously denied) was correct and thereby administer the correct antibiotic. For the first few days, we had to ask the nurses to take our daughter’s temperature and give her a fever reducer. And to top it all off, they screwed around on discharge until we’d been there just long enough to bill us for another day. I suppose they get a star for not letting our child die and eventually producing one or two really great nurses.
