Overpriced, undersized, poor quality. sushi was luke warm and premade. Roll was wrapped in plastic and stored away before ordering. Only reason I was here was because I was leaving from the outlets back to fresno. I was a sushi chef for 4 years at Japanese kitchen in clovis. Take it from me, don’t come here if you don’t have to.

Not good at all. They served our food one person at a time, so 2 were done before 2 of us got our food. Food was greasy and not traditional sushi ingredients. Won’t go again.

So my basic spicy roll was ok. My sisters dragon roll however was disgusting. I tried to get them to exchange it for something else since it was not like dragon rolls from anywhere else(cream cheese and jalapeños?). Any way they said nope no refund no exchanges. I asked so your restaurant doesn’t stand behind your product. They called a manager and nope they sure don’t. Won’t get my business any more.

Great option for fast-Japanese food. Bento box #2 is usually enough for myself and a child. Service is lacking. I do not appreciate walking into a business and not being acknowledged. Eye contact goes a long way. The girl at the register started talking to me as she was still looking down and counting money. Nope! Not ok. Give me the respect of eye contact. Your food is not cheap. I paid over $ 25 for two meals. I expect to be treated with courtesy. In addition, I overheard the cooks yelling at the servers. This is never acceptable. There was obviously a breakdown in front of the house and back of the house. I don’t care if this is just ‘fast food’ it is still a business that is part of the hospitality industry and should not be accepted. One last thing, I was asked twice if I wanted chopsticks or forks. I asked for chopsticks(twice). When I got home and opened my bag I had two forks. This is just lazy and shows a lack of detail. The girl working the counter didn’t care or take pride in giving good service.

One of my favorite lunch spots! We always have fast and friendly service and I can always count on a delicious meal at a great price. My favorites include the Tsunami roll, Wisconsin roll, and the Texas roll. I also recommend trying the bento box with California rolls, teriyaki chicken, and vegetable tempura.

I’ve been going to the Tulare location Healthy Japan for over six years. Their sushi is okay but their teriyaki chicken bowls are pretty good. I always order a teriyaki chicken bowl with NO veggies. Of course you get way more teriyaki sauce and chicken(which is better than cabbage and a few slices of carrots). The reason why I give the restaurant 2 stars out of 5, is because every single time I call in an order for pick up, the staff NEVEREVER has it ready! I understand places get busy, but 80% of the time, there’s ONLY one other customer in the place! The staff who answers the phone usually tell me, «give us 10 – 15 minutes.» I arrive and the girls in the front are telling the cooks in the back, «this one’s here.» And they’re barely getting it ready. If I’m a regular and always use the same phone number to verify an order, why isn’t the order ready?! I’m a dependable customer and that means I should be able to depend on the restaurant to have my food ready. Ugh! It’s very frustrating! What’s the point of ordering pick up when the food is Never Ready To Go?!

The Rolls were HUGE! Texas Roll had teriyaki chicken. The Tsunami roll had crab, was deep-fried and spicy. They didn’t accept AMEX, and the rolls weren’t very tight, so I had to use a fork.

This was the worse susgi I ever got, so far. If we can call that sushi. Here its a type of fast food not so fast but definitely not great. All rolls have excessive dry rice and sauces to hide the real flavor. I hate it. I got the Texas and a rainbow roll. Texas roll was full of rice and sauce. They were falling apart. Same goes for the rainbow. I mean, how can you mess with a simple rainbow roll? Well, here they can. They were gall n apart and didnt taste fresh. In fact, fishes were chewy, thats was the unecessary abundance of sauces. Service was great but honestly I feel I am stomach due to this experience. The only reason I came in here was because it’s across the street of my hotel and I spent 3 days driving, so didnt feel. like walking or driving anywhere else. And I regret that I didn’t

Really good teriyaki bowls that’s about the only thing I eat there not a fan of sushi the sauce is light and taste pretty damn good not great but better then a lot of places I’ve had they put a decent amount of meat on their considering the price is fairly low the rice is a good sticky rice when mixed with the sauce becomes really a show stealer :) but for the price it’s worth giving em a shot!

Nothing exciting going on-random combo rolls. You get what you pay for– they’re heavy handed with the rice that’s dry, the fish is meh and skimpy, and the overly sweet sauce covers all. Reminds me of what we’d eat in undergrad since it was all we could afford. You aren’t going to get sick and the rice will fill you up.

Other rolls I’ve had here are good, but not the ones I had today. I usually like Dragon Rolls at other places, but these were just not good at all. I had to stop eating it. Also, they only come in jumbo! They were not rolled that great, probably due to the size. I waited a long time for my food, which may have been ok if I liked It. A very different experience from the last time. The customer service was still good though. Due to previous good experiences, I’m still keeping this at 3 stars

hello… As an avid foodie who has eaten more sushi than most everyone, I would barely call the food served here sushi. The pros are the parking and the staff. The cons are the overpriced food for what you get. The sushi rolls are majority rice and poorly made. go somewhere else. After ordering a simple rainbow row which was made unlike any other place on earth, when asked it be remade was told to order a new one. The owner/manager after being called on the phone by an employee would not even stand behind their own product. Stopped here as a healthy alternative to a burger, super disappointed. You should avoid this place at all costs. Go somewhere where they know how to make asian food. I never leave comments but had to leave my first. The closest thing this place had to being japanese or asian even was the staff, none of whom were asian.

Obviously Tulare is not a place to get real asian anything. My friend wanted to come here with our team(our competition was in Tulare) because he thought it was pretty decent. meh. i like non-healthy japanese food. This place gave me the«we are health nut place» vibe. This place looks like a mall sushi place. Not that great. I don’t even remember if there was any sashimi at all because I would have ordered it. Instead, I got a chicken terriyaki bento. It was okay… it was cheap.

This was the worst sushi I’ve ever ate! The rolls were 70−80% rice. I literally paid $ 22 for rice and soy sauce! Keep in mind that I do not normally write reviews, but I had to do it this time.

Food was great!’ I had a rainbow roll and it was very nice. Also had the shrimp tempura. I wish they would go lighter on the batter on all tempura dishes. Over all a good place to have quick Japanese food.

I’ve only been here once and it actually gave me a good first impression! There’s a nice atmosphere inside and also quite roomy. Makes you feel at home The food is quite good as well! I came for the sushi and I was not disappointed. If you’re craving Sushi and don’t want to spend alot this is the place to go

This is probably the worst sushi I’ve ever had and this place only survives because there is such a lack of options in the area. Pros: Lots of parking. Cons: The sushi. There’s nothing healthy about it. Their prices are average, but the sushi is below-average. They have teriyaki rolls, fried and chicken rolls, no real(fresh fish) options. I ordered the spicy tuna and it was heavy on rice and very light on tuna. I also ordered the rainbow roll and it was a hair in it. I returned it and they offered to make me another. I asked for my money back and it was a big deal to be reimbursed.

We stopped by Tulare to visit a family friend at a nursing home and wanted to bring her some unagi. So I Unilocaled some Japanese restaurants nearby and found about 3 options. We decided on Healthy Japan because it was on the way to the nursing home. The place itself was clean and roomy with a pretty big outdoor patio, which is where we sat. So I did like that we were able to sit outside and get some fresh air. However, the food and service was mediocre. We wanted to bring our family friend some unagi with rice but they said the unagi only came with the sushi rolls. I then asked if they could just put some pieces on some rice for us, since they do have unagi, but she said it wasn’t possible. The cashier just seemed really confused about what we wanted. Finally, after a few rounds back and forth with the kitchen, we were able to get their only roll which contained unagi and they put unagi on top of the whole roll instead of alternating it with salmon and other fish. It wasn’t quite what we were hoping for, but good enough. The place is more like a fast food Japanese restaurant so I guess I can’t compare it with a traditional restaurant. The sushi wasn’t too bad, but the teriyaki was a bit dry. Not sure that I would be back.
