The atmosphere is great and relaxed there… but honestly the drinks were pretty expensive and didn’t taste how they should. Which in my opinion is the reason you go to a bar… for the drinks!!! They do have a really laid back feel to the place, it does get crowded in there though since it’s not very big.

The flycatcher focuses on letting bands play, so this place is definitely great for watching shows, and apparently their fruit loop shots are out of this world! Great vibe and energy on 4th ave.

I increased it by one star because the staff is so nice personable. It is kind of like a funky movie set. You get your drinks around the bar and then head back for the music. I have seen some really fun bands here and the price is very reasonable. I am a bit concerned when there is a large crowd as the exit to the street is just one door and the other way out it to meander around the bar. Not good. Have fun and party with best of Tucson.

Super cool hipster joint with friendly staff and great live music. If I lived in Tucson I’d be a regular!

I’ve been coming here since it was Plush. Not that me plush either. That old dank plush with no matching furniture and hipsters everywhere. Well the hipsters never left, but the bar is my favorite place to go meet my friends. The bartenders here are all good. I’d Mary each and every one of them. Even the dudes, fuqk it. Come in any day of the week, night or day, it’s awesome. Wish Unilocal had a 6 star so I could complain and say I wish I could give this place seven stars.

I appreciate the fact that when there are shows, cover gets charged in the back before the main room while the bar and other areas are still open. This means Flycatcher can always be a stop in the night without having to worry about what show is going on. I think they have the complete set of Del Bac whiskies, too. Rich’s recommendation: patio fiends, make sure to also check out the back patio by the stage.

Meh. The atmosphere seems cheap, but what do you expect when the drinks cost so little? They incredibly can routinely attract great musical acts that should play at larger, less intimate venues. This may be reason enough to go if you’re willing to overlook the grizzled, smokey crowd of regulars and obnoxious college students. Depending on the night of the week, you might also have to pay for parking in their private lot. If you’re not interested in the night’s entertainment, try another dive bar. There’s certainly no shortage in the area or Tucson in general.

This place is so neat, every time I go in its a different experience. The atmosphere and décor is like no where I’ve been with big 3D lips and red colors everywhere. I just recently learned there was a patio which makes me like this place even more. The drinks are reasonably priced and good place to go for conversation starters

Dive bar! Love the wallpaper and atmosphere. I love a place that will host a Bernie Sanders fundraiser for free. Much to love.

I walked in on a wednesday, i was in in the area, and Oh my god. they were having 2 beatles tributes playing free that night. I had a great time! and honey brown my favorite beer there was affordable. The next wednesdays werent as great. a band wouldnt set up there equipment on time so i lost the vibe, ran out of time and had to leave, otherwise id give it a five! p. s i also had a missing connection with a dark toned woman who was absolutely attractive, i asked for my beer like a gentlemen and politely said hello and got ZERORESPONSE. maybe im losing my magic but people used to pretend to be nice, i think… lol

Awesome dive bar. 3.00 drinks Way cool! Saw funny man Myq Kaplan perform a free show at this small venue — it was perfect! There are trash dive bars out there and then you on occasion find cool kick ass dive bars. This was for kick ass! What’s gem plus the bar hop activity is a nice added bonus, great hood all together

The flycatcher cares. They provide double ply toilet paper for your lady bum. Double. Ply. Also their drinks are good, decent beer selection, music or comedy every day, and if you’re a damn cheapskate you can watch the show from the front bar

Last visit to this building was when it was Plush, in 2010. BORIS show. This time around it was UFOMAMMUT(IT). Saturday night. I’m only reviewing this venue from a show-perspective. Great sound, acoustics. Staff is friendly and cool. Security the same. Bar somewhat separated from the show-area, which seemed nice if you wanted to have a conversation and not yell at each other. They also have 2 outside patios for your vapor/smoke needs. I like this venue to see loud bands. Brilliant.

The place has potential, but you definitely feel like you don’t beloing there if you’re not a regular. The majority of the people there are friends w/the bartenders, & you’re going to get a stink eye from both of them. For the exception of one bartender, everyone treats their job like a life-sucking burden if they have to confront someone they don’t already know. Even while the place is dead the staff wants to rush you, & exhale as if they’ve been sitting there for 10 hours. I can tell this place is doing well w/what they generate from their regulars, but I peronally wouldn’t suggest you go unless you’re w/a regular.

I have been a loyal patron since this was called Plush. Moving here in 2006, Plush my was first place I drank. Now this chic old fashion speak easy is called The Flycatcher, still amazing! All of the staff are mix masters, wonderful atmosphere for a tasty drink. The best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had! Plus don’t forget to indulge in their signature drink, Sexy Blue Jesus! Spacious, sofa/table seating. Great live music. Open sky patio. By the way, the best happy hour one could ask for!

Still my favorite bar on the Avenue. We will probably always call it Plush amongst ourselves just because. Same staff, same great everything. Anytime we are downtown this is a must stop.

I must say, it is strange that this place is no longer Plush. Nonetheless, the location is prime and the vibes are good. I think it was good character for somewhere on fourth and has more Tucson authenticity then any bar further south on 4th Ave. This is somewhere cool to grab a martini with good friends as a weekday or night cap. The drinks are nothing to rave about in my opinion, but they are always good enough. It was a wide layout and wonderful ambiance. If you haven’t been, I would suggest you give it a go!

The Flycatcher, Plush, that cool place on the corner… whatever name you use, I’m still a fan. Especially knowing that they still have the Sexy Blue Jesus. L & I were looking for a fun place for karaōke on a recent Tuesday night and the bartender at L’s hotel recommended The Flycatcher. Flycatcher? I said. I’m not familiar. When he said it used to be called Plush, I immediately said to L that we need to go there. Everyone is super friendly from the big guy at the door, to the bartender to the bar’s patrons. The bartender came up with some interesting and tasty shot concoctions for us before we made out way over to the karaōke stage. Soon the magic started when that big guy at the door got on stage and starting singing an uncomfortable Hava Nagila and he was quickly followed by one of the servers as she wailed out her song. Then my L got up and surprised everyone with his awesome rap prowess. What’s that? A big white guy up on the stage rapping? Not exactly… on the stage, through the crowd and at the bar. L was loving it and so was the crowd. I can’t wait to go back for another fun night. And maybe, just maybe I’ll brave the microphone. Probably not though. :/

So I came here with some friends for karaōke on Tuesday night. We arrived around 9:30pm. It was pretty much dead. Only like a few people sitting around the bar and I heard no music. I asked if they still had karaōke and the Kj said he needed more singers to start, which is understandable. So people started signing up and we start rotation around 10:00pm. Once it got going the bar started filling up and it turned into a good atmosphere of regulars and me as a newbie. It’s kind of a dive bar, which I like. Drinks were cheap and the bartenders were nice and fast.

Wondered here on a busy Saturday night after the UofA game and after eating dinner down the road. Seemed like the perfect place to end the night on a few drinks. Low lighting, good music that isn’t played so loud that we can’t talk, nice place to sit and watch the craziness of 4th Ave, oh and affordable drinks. Glad we came in and I’m sure we will be back.

Very cool, unique, and funky atmosphere and décor. Love the 90’s music that was being played! The names of cocktails are priceless, i.e.“Cardinal Sin” and«Sexy Blue Jesus.» The first cocktail was not drinkable but was fixed with a smile. I look forward to going back!

If you liked Plush, you will like Flycatcher. I did, and I do. Same great staff, even better drink specials and shows. On Tuesday nights, they have karaōke, which is a really fun time because you can sing on the stage. I also recommend checking it out on a Wednesday night, when they have $ 1 vodka and the Pink & Teal DJs bump rad vintage dance music. Flycatcher is great because, unlike some of my other favorite bars, you can steal away to a quiet corner to really talk and not get drowned out by chaos. It’s like my boozy avenue oasis. Highly recommend. My congratulations to the new owner, Justin! A+

Flycatcher is the former Plush, and it has the same awesome bartenders, and the same great vibe. Affordable happy hours and a nice music venue as well. My favorite bar on 4th!
