Starving Students Movers

Rip off artists… don’t do their jobs properly for my mother-​law, who is blind. Left stuff behind causing us to do three more trips ourselves to finish what they should have done.

The day my move was scheduled at 8am and I was not able to get a hold of someone until almost 9am. I then got a call that the movers got a flat tire at 1030am and my move needed to be rescheduled.
However, the next day Mitchell and his crew were excellent and got my 3 bedroom house moved within 4 hours totally complete! Mitchell was a pleasure to work with and made up for the horrible experience the day before.

These people were horrible. They showed up and the one who was supposed to be the boss is a drug addict or an ex drug addict with no teeth. Very scary to let in my home. My table and dresser were scratched and it was ‘documented’ but absolutely nothing was done about it. They were very slow at moving my furniture, a few time I had to go in and check if they were coming out. And I was laughed at when I asked if I get some sort of discount for my furniture being damaged. I would never use these people again to move. Very unprofessional and I didn’t trust them in my home or around my belongings.

Here is exactly what I sent them when I filed my claim which they never responded back to even after I contacted them 3 more times.
I attached the claim form you sent and per your request I am going to summarize the reasons for my dissatisfaction with my move.
I have used Starving Students three times before to move. I used you on the East Coast and here in Tucson and have always had a great experience.
My recent move with you started out fine. I was contacted by you to confirm the move. The movers showed up on time and then everything fell apart.
One of the mover’s mother died about an hour into my move. This is horrible for him and my heart goes out to him. Due to this my move was stalled while you located another mover. I was told I would be taken off the clock as no moving or packing happened during this event but I was not taken off of the clock.
Once another mover arrived they worked at a pace that was incredibly slow. They bickered with each other constantly and were busy smoking cigaretts and talking more than moving.
When we finally got over to my house they took an incredibly long time to move. They dropped the F bomb in front of my young children three times even though they were asked repeatedly not to use that sort of language. They gave my fiancé and her friend both smart ass responses such as «I am mover not a decorator» to them.
They requested my help to move heavy items as they were unable to.
The move took twice as long as my last move with you even though there was half as much stuff to move and the physical move was 1 mile.
I would like a refund of half of what I paid for this move.
I am happy to talk to whomever necessary about this incident and am more than happy to have my fiancé or her friend both of which were married to naval officers so they are very familiar with how a move should go.
I never got anything from them. They could care less about my dissatifaction.
