I love that we have place as a nice take out Mexican stand-by(you can eat in too). It’s close to our house on the west side. They keep their prices low, and they’re so good! It’s a family run long time business. It’s always packed, you can be guaranteed to be full and happy. The rice and beans and meat are flavorful and delicious. I like how they wrap my fork in a tortilla too! It’s a little on the dirty side inside, but I don’t mind, I usually take the food out, and we’re always super satisfied!

Everything was just so good! And inexpensive! Thank goodness for Unilocal because I would’ve never found or stopped here without it. Yum!

The best authentic Mexican food in town. I always come here for tortillas that come on a variety of sizes.

My bf, his mom, and I stopped by here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. I had seen pictures of the place on Unilocal,so I was on the lookout as we were driving down the street to find it. Initially, I was a little worried about the wait that was mentioned in previous reviews, but we had no problems. For our order of 3 burritos, the wait was a very reasonable 10 minutes or so. The horchata was good and not too sweet, and the burritos were delicious. I personally had the sausage, egg, and potato burrito, and everything was diced up inside so the fillings were equally mixed up. The tortillas were well-cooked, nicely chewy, and fantastic. The best part is the value– our burritos ranged in price from $ 4.60-$ 4.80 and a small horchata was $ 1.40. Good food, and we would come again if in the area!

Went for the first time this past weekend and I don’t think it lived up to the hype. Yes the tortillas were good but that’s about it. My boyfriend ordered the carne asada burro and the meat was dry. I ordered the red chili burro and after my second bite my burro fell apart. The rice had too much seasoning and the beans were average. Also service took a while. A lot of people waiting and longer than 5 minutes just to ask for salsa.

Incredibly slow service. Took about 20 minutes to order. The place is so hot, swamp cooler? And fans going on the lowest setting. Very little seating and the table can be cleaned more often. There was two women with a baby crawling all over the table drooling all over it, ewww! Ordered our food, a breakfast burrito and a birria… another 20 minutes to get the burritos. Hubby was missing some ingredients he had ordered. Bacon was more like a shredded style bacon. I actually got a red chili burrito(not what I ordered). Instead of complaining we ate them because they weren’t all that bad. Giving the 3 stars because of that, the food was great. Tortillas were also very good, homemade.

Excellent food. The best carne seca tacos in Tucson. Salsa is very tasty with a little kick to it. Only bad thing is that they are so busy and understaffed it takes a long time to get your meal. I waited for 45 minutes to get 3 tacos. The cashier takes orders, answers the phone, fills soda orders, goes to the kitchen to pick up orders, serves the orders, fills napkins, etc etc etc. Best Mexican food on Westside.

I grew up at this place. These are hands down some of the best flour Tortillas made in arguably the United States. Living in Northern California, I come here every time I’m back home to load up on Tortillas and take them home.

Oh I so wanted to eat here. All the reviews are glowing. The prices are very reasonable. I went at noon on a hot day. NO air conditioning. The stench of 40 sweating bodies, including mine, was dripping from the ceiling. NO fan. One super slow gal at the register working alone. Dazed customers waiting and waiting for their orders of food. I stood in line for 10 minutes and then I bailed. The heat and the rotten gym locker smell just had me seeing visions of squeaky arm pits. Waaaa I really wanted to try their food. Maybe I will pop in there in the winter mid afternoon wearing nose plugs… haha.

Spoiler: We didn’t like it, didn’t each much of it, and probably won’t be back. We may have ordered the wrong item, but I was looking forward to a good breakfast burrito and ordered a chorizo burrito with beans, potatoes and egg. What I got was a tortilla that held 90% chorizo that wasn’t well spiced, no beans, and a skimpy amount of potatoes(frozen) and little egg. I did opt for the red chili sauce to smother it and it also quite bland. My querida ordered chilaquiles and received a container of greasy chips slathered with the too mild chili sauce, shredded iceberg, tiny bit of cheese, and a huge dollop of sour cream. Inedible. We took home a dozen tortillas and they are good, but nothing extraordinary in this tortilla rich town.

Our first stop as soon as we got to town this trip was St. Mary’s tortilla factory. It has great reviews online, we were there just as lunchtime is starting, it was very convenient and it smelled delicious! St. Mary’s tortilla factory is definitely a no fuss restaurant. You place your order at one window and pick it up at the next. All of the dishes are served in to go containers. It’s your choice whether you take it to go or you pick out one of the tables inside to eat at. There are no waiters and you bus your own table. Nothing fancy just good food. Nice family friendly atmosphere, St Mary’s Tortilla Factory is very welcoming and inviting, even to us out of towners! With that said unless you are fan of extra spicy salsa(which I am not) you may want to take your order to go and use your own salsa at home. The spicy salsa fans in our little group had no problem with the house salsa that came complementary with lunch. But otherwise without any kind of salsa my food was just kind of dry. I ordered the lunch combo chicken taco and green corn tamale. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t a meal that I would run back to repeat anytime soon. It was just so dry and kind of bland. The refried beans and rice however were very flavorful and very good! The fresh tortilla(wound around a popsicle stick and put into the plastic bag to preserve freshness,) was very good too. I can see why this place is popular with the locals and after traveling all morning — the food was exactly what we needed and really hit the spot. While others in our little party loved their lunch and bookmarked the place with plans to return soon — my favorite part of the meal was excellent lemonade! It was so cool and refreshing, tart and sweet but not overly so — I would definitely stop in again for another cup! The service was fast and very efficient. The restaurant is kind of small but seems just right for an operation that offers take out as well as dine-in, and during the time we sat eating I saw plenty of people stopping in for both. Lots of open free parking, St Mary’s Tortilla Factory is very easy to get to and by noon there was a line out the door for food orders! So get there early!

Good food, great service and mostly reasonable prices are at this conveniently located little place. It’s not fancy, but it’s a really good place for take-out. I had two chile rellenos and two fish tacos because I like to see how each restaurant does these. The rellenos were good and the fish tacos were too. The fish tacos weren’t prepared Baja-style(fried fish, cabbage, Mexican cream/lemon sauce) as I prefer, but they were well prepared on a fresh corn tortilla, perfectly crunchy fried fish, on shredded lettuce and a perky pico de gallo. The rellenos were perfectly battered chiles with the right amount of that delicious Mexican cheese. My partner had the number one(birria tacos) and really enjoyed them. I’m sorry to not have more details, but he cleaned his(styrofoam) plate. The employees are friendly and helpful. Our tab was $ 13 and change. I wouldn’t mind eating here again, but we Tucsonans are SO spoiled with the choices we have. Yes, Phoenix. We win this match

I come here for one thing and one thing only… burritos. This place is famous for making some of the best tortillas in town, so of course they make for delicious burritos. My absolute favorite is the red chile burrito. Perfect mix of chile spice with tender pieces of meat. Their breakfast burritos are also very good. Their carne seca is some of the best in town and the egg/potato/sausage or bacon is made right when you order. Their house made red salsa is also delicious, maybe a bit spicy for some but goes well on any burrito. As others have already shared, the downside to this place is definitely slow service. If the place is packed, which it gets on weekends and some mornings, you can expect to wait 20 – 30 minutes for your order. So if you’re short on time, this probably isn’t the best bet to get a quick bite. But if you got the time to wait, you won’t be disappointed.

Carne Seca! There are very few places that do Carne Seca, which is sun dried beef. Here, at St. Mary’s Tortilla Factory, you can have carne seca with fresh home made tortillas. It’s a double win! We came in for the breakfast burritos which had carne seca rolled up in a homemade flour tortilla, along with potatoes and eggs. It was super noms! St Mary’s Tortilla Factory offer up hearty, affordable, breakfast options that represents some of the best regional stuff Tucson has to offer.

One of the BEST Mexican food spots in town for two reasons: 1) incredible Tortillas(as they should, it they name their spot«tortilla factory») and 2) out of this world Carne Seca. Their Carne Seca is easily the best in town, IMO surpassing El Charro’s version. Their Carne Seca breakfast burrito is a dream come true — and they serve it all day! Let it be known they only serve Carne Seca on Fri-Sun. I really want to give this place 5 stars, but their slow and disinterested service is hard to stomach. Be prepped to wait! Yes they’re popular, yes they get busy, but waiting a half hour for a breakfast burrito is sometimes a little on the ridiculous side… just sayin: D

Carne Seca burro was smokey, delicious and really filling. The price is great for what they give you. If only they automatically put some tomatoes and lettuce. :(Other than that, you have to stop by and try the carne seca burro, especially if you’re just visiting the area. The tortilla is amazing — if I wasn’t in the process of moving, I would have taken a few back home to eat. Don’t forget to order an horchada — they serve one that is delicious!

Aka St. Marys Mexican Food. This place has Mexico written all over it right when you pull into the driveway. The food is excellent, must try the mini chimis, the tacos, toastada. There appears to be a mother and son running the place with the mother doing a majority of the cooking and the son taking the orders, but he helps when not taking orders. When I was here there were 5 groups including us, that gets a little line building up and one person/group may be waiting for a few moments. Other than that, definitely worth a try! Cheers!

One of the best places in Tucson. It’s often crowded, always with locals who obviously know where to find the best food in the neighborhood. This is the type of place where women line up on Sunday mornings with empty pots to get menudo for the family. Everything is good, but by far the best items on the menu are the burros, especially the(1) chicken,(2) bean,(3) chile relleno, and(4) carne seca breakfast burro. You can’t go wrong with any of those four. Their beans and chicken especially are ridiculously delicious and way better than I would have thought possible for something so simple. A few tips from someone who eats here several times a week: — the wait is often long, so call ahead — you can get extra(basically double) meat on your burro for only $ 1 more(!) — breakfast burros are available all day — the carne seca breakfast burro is almost identical to but somehow much tastier than the ordinary carne seca burro — carne asada is only available Fri-Sat-Sun but is worth planning your week around. It’s particularly good as a burro or on nachos.
