We were looking for actual Mexican food and this place is the real deal. I got a crazy chimichanga and my boyfriend got the crazy burro. Both were awesome and came out within 5 minutes after ordering. Complimentary chips and salsa, very good. The establishment was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

Yummy Mexican food at reasonable prices. I grew up in Texas and this is as close to Tex Mex that I’ve found since moving to Tucson. Great cheese enchiladas. I loved their Milagro margarita.

My first time visiting this long time establishment. I guess you would say this is Mexican comfort food. Nothing fancy. Very Simple and moderately priced. Service was efficient and food came out in a timely matter. Plenty of space for large groups. Plenty of parking and clean. It would be around this long if they weren’t putting out something good!

After living in Tucson for almost 20 years I pride myself on knowing where all the good Mexican restaurants are located. Shockingly though I had no idea this place existed until recently! My Dad and I decided to try it out one day and we were both really satisfied with our experience. The service was amazing, our server was great and always prompt with drink refills and chip refills. The food that we ordered came out very quickly and it was delicious, we both ordered the cheese enchilada lunch plate and we were both extremely stuffed and happy after eating! This place is a little hidden since its not located directly on Speedway but I am so happy I found this place, great prices, amazing service and delicious food… what more can you ask for?

Hadn’t been here in a long time but took my daughter and her family there for dinner. It’s just north of Speedway on Belvedere. The four of us enjoyed our dinner. We started with a cheese crisp which had a crispy crust and lots of melted cheese on top-really delicious. Their salsa is a little spicy and tasted good. I had the green corn tamales enchilada style and though I’ve had better, they were very good. The others all enjoyed their meal. The margarita was also good. Service was pretty good. I would go back again.

Dinner here was okay. The salsa that was brought to my table as I sat was super spicy. I asked for a milder version and was brought a dish of chopped up stewed tomatoes, l certainly wouldn’t call that salsa. I ordered the spinach enchiladas which came very quickly. They were tasty but simple. The service was quick and pleasant. Next time I think I’ll choose from the plethora of other Mexican places in Tucson. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Great food, great service, terrific lunch specials. Soda and tea cost too much, so I often just have water or a beer. Not fancy, but as good as regular Mexican food gets, which is saying a lot in Tucson.

Need more vegetarian options. Lard in the beans, cheese everywhere, wilted lettuce. Nice ambiance with potential if they update the menu to 21st century.

Ive been here a couple times but they’ve recently raised their prices on alright food. I ordered a tostada — that was honestly 90% lettuce, 9.9% beans, and .1% cheese. Also had a ground beef taco — meh. The ground beef was dry and the taco shell was really hard, like borderline stale. I don’t remember this being a problem before but maybe I just able to get past this with the cheap prices! Now, I just can’t. I probably wouldn’t go back out of choice.

How convenient to have this cozy, friendly restaurant right next to my favorite mechanic. Makes it easy to wait while the car is being serviced! I had a very nice lunch this week. I had the spinach stuffed«sinchaladas» topped with green sauce on one and red sauce on the other. Not quite hot enough for my taste but delicious nonetheless. The refried beans were creamy and very tasty! The salsa for the chips was excellent — and had the heat that I love! I didn’t get the server’s name but he was«Mr Personality» which added to enjoyable experience. I will not wait until my next oil change to return! Gave it three strong stars only because I’d like to try a couple more dishes before I hit 4 or more! I highly recommend this place for a nice lunch!

Fantastic as always, this place never disappoints. Service is great and the margaritas are to die for. We used to live near here so have tried most of their menu, not a bad thing on it. One of our favorite places in Tucson. PS) The flan is perfect!

This long-time Tucson establishment is tucked away off the beaten path of Speedway on a side street and is very nondescript from the outside. Once you enter the doors though, you see a bright and cheery and LARGE Mexican restaurant. My son and I went to Molina’s for a Mother’s Day lunch and were seated immediately. Whew! Lucky us being a party of two as there were a few larger parties waiting in the lobby. Molina serves up tasty chips and salsa — mmmm, their salsa is tasty and nicely spiced. We each ordered a chimichanga enchilada style — M’s was carne seca and mine was green chile beef with a green enchilada sauce over the top. When our order took a long time to be delivered our waiter finally came out and told us that our chimis were burned and were being remade. While I’m glad they didn’t serve them, the resulting chimis that we did get were way underdone. No crispness at all, in fact they were more like smothered burritos. Still flavorful but I was disappointed in the sogginess. Service was so-so. Took a bit of time for our waiter to come back around and even though the crowd had definitely thinned, it took forever for us to get our check. I’ve never been super impressed with Molina’s for varying reasons but it still serves up standard, decent Mexican food.

Love this place! Thanks to Unilocal we gave it a try while in town and we will be back!!! Amazing food, carne asada was perfect, and the service is great. A+ recommend anytime you’re in the mood for Mexican food in Tucson.

Molina’s Midway has been open since April 1st, 1953. More than sixty-one years later, I enter the place that was started by Elias and Louisa Molina. This is a family-run restaurant and it’s now the third generation handling the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Everything was just okay. This is why to me this is a standard 3 star review. Here is my breakdown: Interior(3 out of 5) Could use some upgrades. It’s nice that they kept the feeling the same thing for many years(as told to me by others), but it’s a little awkward how things are set up. Five different dining sections completely isolated from one another. Tables and chairs that are outdated and slightly uncomfortable. A television and bench across from it that is not possible for any diner to watch without moving from their table. At least things were intact. Service(3.5 out of 5): Service was alright. A waiter named Angel seems to have the biggest following. Another other server I’ve had was nice and genuine. The host seemed to be bothered by the television instead of covering his post. Again, the misplaced TV has it that it is there for the employees. I completely understand that they need a TV to watch when they have nothing to do, but to not make it accessible to patrons seems weird, especially when noticing that employees were sitting on the bench watching the television. Food Taste(3 out 5). They do a good job with their refried beans. Their chips areaverage. The salsa they bring out in a bottle is alright but had a longer-than-normal spicy kick to it afterwards. They don’t have any other salsa which I think would help if they did. You can request pureed tomatoes as a mild alternative and that was satisfying enough. I’m not a fan of whatever cheese they use. The cabbage on the side tasted like it had been sitting out in the warm. The shredded chicken on the other hand was decent. The best thing they have hear(in my opinion) is their house-made Catalina dressing. Food presentation(3 out of 5). The burrito I ordered on my last visit was poorly prepared. I did not feel like they took the time at all to wrap it correctly. It fell apart the movement the burrito moved. The cheese crisp appeared alright and the topopo salad was well presented. Looking at the food that was being served to other customers, it seemed to be a hit or miss. Price(2 out of 5). I did not feel that the price matches the quality and quantity of the food. It is also pricier than other Mexican restaurants, although it is similarly comparable to other mexican restaurants in the surrounding area. Another reviewer was spot on when they said«It’s not anything unique or different.» I did not feel I was eating authentic Sonoran food that many other places in Tucson are known for. This restaurant seems to have a loyal clientele and in another person’s shoe I can understand why they keep coming back. While nothing about this place I would considered below average, I just feel that there is nothing to convince me of any desire to go back anytime soon. The three stars for me is a deserving rating for this place because overall, it is just an average and non-exceptional experience.

Molinas has been in Tucson for many years. It’s been about 6 months since I’ve been here and I will say now…“They will probably be closed within a year!” The new menu is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced! $ 10.95 for a cheese crisp with green chiles. 2 tacos, rice and beans for $ 11.00. A tamale is $ 4.00 and enchilada style is $ 2.50 more. I will never eat here again and will be spreading the news to everyone I know. Not close to being worth the money!

You know, it’s not anything unique or different but it was good everyday Mexican food. The portions were massive. The server was friendly and they regularly filled our drinks. My husband tried the carne seca. It’s very spiced(not spicy but spices). He preferred my carne asada but thought the other was still good. I did learn the difference between a burro and a burrito. The burrito is smaller than a burro. My burro was still HUGE and I brought home leftovers.

We went to Molina Midway Mexican food for lunch in midtown Tucson. There were 5 of us dinning. The restaurant was very plain on the outside, clean on the inside very nice murals painted on the interior walls. The waitress brought a bowl of chips and a ketchup container filled with a tomato purée they called salsa, too spicy. We asked for pico de gillo. The waitress brought flavorless pico de gillo. Left to our own devices we mixed the pico, tomato purée and Tajin to create our own delicious salsa. The five of us are an average age of 50. Considering the average age of the restaurant goers here we were babies. This seems to be a señor citizen hang out and the food was average at best. I can speak for our group we will not come back to this restaurant. The five of us are from CA and we’ve had good Mexican food and that wasn’t it. The food was reasonably priced at $ 12.50 per person and the employees were all pleasant.

.gosh. Where do I begin? This place has got to be some of the BEST mexican food in town. It sits back from Speedway and is it’s own hidden gem. I have been going here since I was just a kid. I HAVE to get their cheese enchiladas lunch special every single time I go, they are the BEST in town. The lunch menu consists of a few items and you seriously cannot beat the pricing. I go here for my lunch hour at least once a month, and the service is so fast that I always have time after I eat to sit and relax for a while and speak with my lunch partner. They are always super busy, and how they manage to get your food out to you so quickly blows my mind. All of the servers, bus boys, waitstaff and checkout staff are all so nice. I will continue to go here for as long as I can! Highly HIGHLY recommend this hidden gem!

I finally visited this nice little neighborhood place for the first time after seeing it for the past year everyday as I drive by. What a pleasant surprise! I ordered a tortilla taco salad with whole beans and it was very good! A nice sauce to add in, crispy lettuce, delicious beans, and a good shell. I was quite pleased. And the price was perfect since I didn’t add any beverage(that’s how you save eating out, don’t get the drink. Look how expensive it is!). The salsa for the chips had a nice little amount of spice. My dad had cheese enchilada special. Without drinks, our meals came to a total of almost $ 13. Deal! Nice service, food came out fast and was piping hot… seriously, my dad’s plate had sizzling enchiladas. Very nice, I’m eager to try out the interesting drink specials and Spinach enchiladas sometime!
