My husband requests this place every year for his birthday. The food is so delicious. However the service, don’t get your hopes up, it’s going to be slow. So make sure you have lots of time.

The food was TERRIFIC. I have tried several dishes there and every time I have to say that it was the best version i have ever had. From the grits to the catfish, even meatloaf. Better than I could ever make it myself. And I have worked with chefs in the Culinary Dept for 7 years. They are courteous, professional, great service and reasonably priced as well. I would recommend anyone to eat here, and I am very picky. There is also a bar with local craft brews served. EXCELLENT! Take your guests from out of town, like I did. They will all find something on the menu they will adore. I will definitely be back.

My waitress was really fun and helpful. I have eaten Southern cooking for years and I really miss it. I was really looking forward to this meal. But … It was just okay. From the Freezer to the deep Fat Frier on the okra and a number of other offerings. The chicken was bland. I enjoy a spicier crust with more kick. Odd thing is that it’s kind of a Sports Bar combo eaterie. Just did not spark me or fill my hunger for good down home starchy, crispy, spicey, goodness of Southern Cookin’.

Came here on a Sunday morning and did not have to wait for a seat or service! The service as great. We ordered the french toast with banana foster and the wildcat. Both were great!!! We also saw they have breakfast«totchos», a breakfast version of nachos served on tots. We are planning on coming back to give them a try!

I have been here several times and I always come out of the restaurant a happier person! I have ordered the country fried steak and the winner-winner and they are both excellent. I have tried the different sides and my favorites are the green chili muffin and the Mac and cheese. I also recommend the homemade lemonade and the strawberry lemonade. Service is very good too.

Not worth it, I probably won’t be back. We got the recommended chicken and waffles. I don’t find them great to begin with, but my partner loves the pair together. He wasn’t impressed and couldn’t find much taste in either the chicken or waffle. I got a cocktail that wasn’t worth the money. Was anything worth the money? Maybe, but only because it was rather empty, so I kinda got the place to myself… but wait, empty restaurants are bad… I bet there are better experiences elsewhere.

I’ve never had chicken and waffles together, but salty and sweet do mix nicely. Thus, I gave this place a try. I’m not impressed. The chicken was tender, and juicy, but the breading was just plain. The waffles… Nothing to brag about. I enjoyed their wings much more than the chicken & waffles.

Tried this lovely little place yesterday for breakfast. I ordered the special and it was super delicious! See picture. I rated my experience a 4, but my companion was more in the 1 star range. He ordered the country fried steak. I guess it wasn’t as delicious as he would have liked. He said the meat was too gristly, but otherwise it was cooked perfectly. Also his hash browns arrived kind of burnt. Given that was the bulk of his meal, he wasn’t very happy. We both really liked the ambiance. The prices were not too bad. Our server was friendly and just the right amount of attentive, and immediately offered to take the burnt hash browns off the bill.

The chicken is definitely better than the waffle which was — Yuk! The manager Blaine boarders on being a jerk. Service was good so three stars in spite of the waffle & Blaine’s lack of customer service skills; but maybe tomorrow will be a better day for him.

I ate at this place for the first time today and have two words to describe my experience — Food Poisoning. Roughly 12 hours after eating the chicken and waffles the vomiting started. But even better than that was the liquid diarrhea that forces you to run(not walk) to the bathroom. I’m sure everyone on here has experienced these two symptoms in tandem before and understand the difficulties that have resulted. I will never again eat at this place, and this is not the only reason. The food that is sending me to Urgent Care tomorrow was absolutely mediocre. The waffle was tasteless and soggy. The chicken was grease soaked, like they cooked it in a deep fryer that wasn’t hot enough. They were seriously lacking vegetarian selections on the menu. When we queried the waitress about the best options, she named off the only two options being a salad and an omelette(Seriously?!?). When asked about the vegetarian Po’ Boy that used to be on the menu, she denied it had ever been served there and she was sure of it because she had been working there for five years. She morphed attitudes straight to rude and defensive when my fiancé pointed out he had eaten that selection there twice right after it had opened. It’s really sad that the food is so horrendous because the atmosphere is nostalgic. I was told it is located in an old Pizza Hut and the dark wood and exposed brick is pretty awesome. The ripped and broken booth I sat in pretty much sucked, but did take me back to my childhood in the fact that I had to sit on my knees to reach the table. I don’t recommend this restaurant and will not be back.

Our first time here and the food was good. Waffle was smaller than I thought but tasted good. The spices on the chicken were great! Chicken was a tiny bit on the dry side but still good. I had the B.Y.O or something, my husband had southern something(it had chicken, an egg, gravy, and waffle. He said it was really good.

I’m from the south, so I know my way around fried chicken… and letmetellyou… this place is legit! The fried chicken is outstanding — it is crisp, without being too heavy in oil, and tastes absolutely divine. I’ve been here multiple times, and it always is delicious. The fried pickles are also amazing…(What can I say, I love all things fried), and the jalapeño popper appetizer was also great(but super super spicy!) I am perplexed to why this place is always so empty… it’s awesome!

I get that it’s a chicken and waffle place, but I wish that they had a veg entrée option or at least something that isn’t fried on the app menu. The service was unassumingly good. They have some decent beer options as well. I don’t recommend it or crave it, but it’s in the neighborhood; I will go again.

A great neighborhood spot For a casual dinner and lunch. I love the chicken feed salad and the tachos, both of which are served with yummy pieces of fried chicken. I have had a few sandwiches and breakfast items too, which were legit. I really was hoping for better Mac and cheese, was disappointed with thAt side option. They offer a good beer selection, fun Bloody Mary concoctions and mimosas too! Service had always been friendly. While the majority of tables and booths are inside. They also have a small patio area that allows dogs!

Took my daughter here today for a daddy and daughter date at HER request! This place is unbelievable! I’m not a chicken and waffles expert, but I’ve had my share and May’s is the best! The waffles were delicious and the chicken is some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, whatever they use as a breading is unreal! We ordered our food and they had it out in under 10 mins… and fresh! We ate so much, we wanted to take a nap in the booth!!! Will def be back here!

Chicken and waffles, need I say more? Okay, here goes. Friendly service that remembers you and your dietary accommodations? Decent prices, generous portions, oh and a killer lavender mimosa? Yes please. I usually get the Young Bird, which consists of three very hefty portions of chicken fingers on top of a freshly made waffle. I add some blueberries to the waffle mix and I’m happy happy happy. My honey goes with the burger these days, but he says they are the equivalent of 5 In N Out patties. Again, they are more than willing to work with our dietary accommodations. Thanks J J for taking care of us again, you’re the best! The only thing and I’ll up the number of stars: what’s up with the bordello lighting in the women’s restroom?

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars here. May’s is a decent option for chicken and waffles mostly because they make some mighty fine chicken. Everything else they do is kinda so so. On our most recent outing, the table started with a plate of Totchos(nachos with tots) which were very tasty albeit out of place on a southern food restaurant’s menu. I wound up getting the Hen, which is 2 breasts of chicken, bone in with rib meat and skin, and a waffle. I had them add bacon to my waffle, and I also ordered a side of collard greens. The chicken was exceptionally cooked. Moist and delicious. The batter was crispy and flavorful. I would have preferred my breast meat pieces to be bone out, and in the future, I will need to remember to order the chicken tenders version of the same dish. The collard greens were unusual. Not bad tasting, just odd. They were still quite bitter which to me indicates they have not been cooked long enough, and despite there being fairly large pieces of bacon in it, the dish didn’t taste of bacon to me, and even the bacon pieces didnt taste like bacon anymore. Not sure what happened there guys… The waffle was a bit of a disappointment to me. The flavors were there, but there was a texture issue. With such a thin waffle, it is just going to be difficult to get any sort of crispiness on the outside, and unfortunately that’s just what I’m looking for in a waffle. So all in all, I will be back, but I wont be rushing to get there. Prices are fair, so when the wife and I both want some good chicken, they will be near the top of the list.

My husband really wanted some good fried chicken! I’m not going to lie but after reading all the reviews on here I was super nervous about trying this place out. However, I’m so glad that we took a chance and went for it. Upon walking in we were greeted and seated right away. The host even asked us if we wanted a booth. Our waiter was attentive and even made suggestions for us since we had no idea what to order. I ordered the chicken tenders/waffles(I forgot what it was called on the menu) It was yummy! Plus, the waffle was soft as well. I personally don’t like crispy waffles so that was a plus. I even thoroughly inspected the tenders to ensure they were cooked. Thank goodness I opted to have my kids share a kids meal! Their kids meals are huge, in my opinion. My 6 and 2 year old were able to split it between the two and they were happy campers. My husband ordered the Pecan Chicken & Waffles. They were a little too sweet for his taste but he still enjoyed it. Now, the best part, he ordered a Berry Moonshine Lemonade and it was really refreshing. Their Mac n’ Cheese was alright though. It wasn’t as tasty or flavorful as everything else we ordered. Overall, we’ll be back!

Be prepared to wait and wait and wait for everything. 15 minutes until we got our drinks. About 45 minutes until we received our food. The restaurant was not anywhere close to busy. I ordered the Brioche French Toast for $ 7. You can add bananas for another $ 2. Nothing really special, just the usual French Toast. A friend had the basic scrambled eggs and hash browns and felt both were prepared very well. Another friend who ordered the French Toast did not like the fact it wasn’t served piping hot… only warm. While it’s always fun to try new places, I don’t think I’ll return since Tucson has so many other wonderful restaurants with friendlier and faster service.
