First time customer! We dined in, it was a Saturday night and seemed to be a lot of pick ups so it took awhile for a pizza but the wait was worth it. Got a large plain, and it was delicious. The staff was very polite and friendly. A little on the pricey side but I’d rather pay for quality. Just the right amount of cheese, and a thin crust. I wouldn’t think Tucson would have east coast quality pizza, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Thanks

I’d give 5 thumbs down. I ordered for delivery, was told 45 minutes. It took 90 min. I called, the girl was unaware of how to talk to a customer. Food showed up after 90 min. Pizza was cold, salad was warm, chicken on salad was hard. I would not recommend this place.

The pizza is pretty good, the staff is cordial. However, over ½ hr for a single slice of pizza… No thanks! It is also overpriced

Let me start off by saying that the food is always delicious is piping hot. Unfortunately there are a few things about this place that could be deal breakers. For one thing, the dining area is cold, old and a bit on the grimy side. 1972 **cough**. The price they charge is outrageous. I understand this is a family run establishment and that they need to make a profit from it but $ 55 – 60 is expensive to feed 4 people. No table service, hard, uncomfortable chairs and booths, Styrofoam plates and cups, plastic cutlery, paper napkins, LOUD1950s music and don’t even get me started on the wait. We went in and ordered our food knowing that it was going to be a long wait even though the place was empty. They quoted 40 minutes. So we went down to the auto mall to bmw and land rover/jaguar to look for a new car. We came back 10 minutes later than when they said the food would be ready and guess what? Not only was the food NOT ready but the place was full of ditzy, loud 15 year old high school baldies and we had to wait 20 more minutes! That’s a grand total of 70 minutes. You’re better off ordering. They do deliver. It is worth the delivery charge.

The best in the NW! Vinnie & crew do a TERRIFIC job & their staff are so sweet as well as delivery personnel. Yes, there has been a mistake, occasionally, but Vinnie always makes sure it’s fixed or the manager on duty. Been a loyal customer for 21 years. Mama’s family is very supportive of the city & outlying areas, also. Thanks, Vinnie & crew!!! May God continue to bless y’all!

I am a frequent customer of the Mama’s on Oracle and Magee. This place has the absolute best pizza in town!!! I would dare say in the state! We always order the mama’s special, it’s their version of a supreme pizza. The ingredients are always fresh and cooked to perfection. I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and kind of like walking through a time machine into the fifties. My boyfriend and I love date nights here! Oh, and did I mention, it’s only $ 40 for a pizza bigger than the backseat of your car? You’re absolutely insane if you don’t LOVE this place.

45 minutes for a slice of pizza?!? You can’t be serious. We have tried to get slices here on three separate occasions but never have. The wait time is always prohibitive. The first time we thought it was a fluke but it’s not. We won’t be stopping in ever again. My husband has made that clear. Too bad there aren’t any good pizza joints on this side of town.

I’ve always was intrigued to try Mama’s Famous Pizza since I moved into the area in 2012, three years later I finally decided to give it a try… …well I think it’ll be longer than three years before I eat here again. First, the dining room is horrendous; it is so outdated with«basket weaved» light coverings and wood paneling EVERYWHERE! I can look past décor because I try not to judge a book by its cover but it was so stuck in the 70’s! I can try to appreciate the charm but the food was subpar and I was disappointed. Secondly the pizza was nothing to write home about. For $ 16.95 you’d expect lots of cheese, a nice hearty crust and good toppings. Sadly the pizza was super thin, hardly any cheese(which wasn’t the best quality) and the pepperonis were scattered and not touching each other like other places. Oh and don’t let me forget the mozzarella sticks… they were so soggy, tasted like old oil and had a weird after taste to them. You could tell they’d been sitting in a freezer for awhile and were thrown into oil that wasn’t hot enough! GROSS! Not to mention they were cold when I took my first bite! Also the timing: I got a quote of 40 minutes and waited about an hour! I hate to be so harsh but when I pay $ 30 for food that doesn’t taste fresh or made with love I get on Unilocal! And write about it! Sorry Mamas I’m not happy!

Myself, my husband, and our two kids(both under a year and a half old) last stopped in June 1st. It was my husband’s birthday and to our surprise, we were the only people there at 7-ish. We placed our order and sat down. Then we waited. And waited… and waited. Several other families came and got orders to go, but one family sat down, got their food, and were out the door before our pizza was out. My husband finally asked the employees(at this point an hour after arriving) if it was done after our very hungry toddler was making it known how frustrated she was, as were we. Magically, it was out about 10 – 15 minutes later. Pretty sure after we got our appetizer they forgot about us. We will schlep the hour drive to the Broadway & Houghton location from now on.

I’m still a fan, but there were a few hitches this visit. The pizza took 30 more minutes than the staff told us to expect, and the calzone was burned.

The Garlic Sticks are huge! Delicious as well. Don’t think a pizza slice won’t fill you up! They are huge AND taste good! Nice atmosphere!

This place used to be one of the best pizza places around. They have gone down hill since the last time I was here. I can almost justify waiting 45 minutes for a delishious pie, however that is not what we got. The pizza did not come out hot. The texture of the crust was chewy and resiliant. It was supposed to have extra cheese, however that is doubtful. The décor is in need of a serious makeover. The hubby and I both agreed that Peter Piper Pizza would have been a better choice. The only plus is Ms. Pac man. But that little glimmer of happiness will not convince us to return. Sad.

one of the best calzones I’ve ever had, it’s the perfect amount of cheese(not overflowing) and the marinara dipping sauce is slightly sweet and doesn’t have large chunks of tomato. I can’t speak to the pizza or any of the other dishes, the staff is friendly enough but it’s not a sit down type restaurant. I order to-go and it’s usually a 45 minute wait(that’s the only con about Mama’s)

Slowest service on the planet. You will starve before you pizza arrives. The plastic silverware and paper plates are a classy touch. Look for napkins! Good luck.

Tonight I had the Pizza Verde small pizza and wow, was it bad. The wilted lettuce, whitish-pink tomatoes, looked less than appetizing but I prayed when I bit into the thin crusty pie I usually love so. My bitter disappointment was all taste-bud inspired. Is that a thick layer of pesto I taste. Eeeuuuwww. I wanted to wipe off my tongue and a vast amount of fluid were necessary to eliminate that TASTE. OMG. Never again. I enjoy a non-traditional pizza however this was just bitter and nasty. Oh and the take-out service was awful. But that’s par for the course with this restaurant. It always sucks.

Not worth the wait. It was our first time trying Mamas and it took almost an hour to get our one half cheese half pepperoni pizza. As for the pizza itself, it was just okay. Not sure what all the hype is about. The crust was really dry. The flavor was nothing amazing. We will be going to the pizza place closer to home from now on.

Ambiance 5 out of 5 Caesar salad 3.5 out of 5 Pizza 3.5 out of 5 Service 3 out of 5 Cleanliness 4 out of 5 Price 4 out of 5 We really enjoyed the unique ambiance! It looks like an older place but is very well kept and clean. The pizza was a bit greasy and salad was a bit limp but the food was good. $ 26 for pizza, salad and 2 sodas — easily enough food for 3 people. Casual place– paper plates and plastic utensils as well as arcade games for the kids. Would go back again!
