Great neighborhood bar with excellent happy hour specials even on weekends to include ½ price glasses of wine. We stopped in before dinner and really enjoyed the laid back vibe of this cool downtown bar.

I recommend going up to the bar to order before sitting down in a booth, which will take a lot longer to get service. The were some really good drink options and the burger I got was delicious. A little pricey but still pretty good. You’ll have more attentive staff if you sit at the bar, so do that unless you don’t mind being walked pass often and getting a drink menu or asked if you need anything after 30 minutes. They do have a photo booth, which looks fun.

Cool place, delicious drinks and food, and the photobooth was fun too! I had whiskey all night, and it was very smooth and tasty. Our bartender was super nice, i’ll definitely be going again!

We stop by Good Oak on a Friday night. I ordered«French 75» and it was delicious ! J had a porter with Chai press and he loved it too. People comment on how good the fried pickles were so we placed an order. I was not impressed though. For some reasons warm pickles just were not appealing to me. The atmosphere was great: cozy, comfort, and intimate. Good Oak is a great place for good drinks and conversations ! We will definitely come back.

My favorite on congress, great atmosphere, great selection of beer and wine, and their take on sangria is awesome. Oh and best deep fried pickle(spears) in Tucson.

Really cool bar. I enjoyed the ambiance as well as the fun photo booth up front. The only thing I really did not like was how they closed at 10 pm, it seemed strange that a downtown bar would close down 2 hours before all the other joints in town would.

I had one of the most odd but delicious cocktails here the other night! It is called the sangria and has a red wine mixed with bourbon. I know it sounds weird but my bartender recommended it. I really enjoyed if! Very different and although the combination seems odd, the flavors were harmonious. Intimate bar setting and great options for bourbon and cocktails.

Good Oak is a lovely little hole in the wall joint tucked in next to the Rialto Theatre. It’s small, but a top notch place to grab a drink and have a good conversation. It’s small and intimate, yet not closed off. They’ve got a great selection of drinks, including lots of local beers and some rad specialty drinks(like their beer presses). Totally fair prices. Nice happy hour deal(half off wines and beers). I’m always happy to come here.

I came here for happy hour and had delicious $ 3 fried pickles and beer. The atmosphere was really appealing and relaxing. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgable about their drink selection and recommended something I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish that their photo booth was in order when I was there because that would have been the icing on top of the cake!

Whenever I am out with friends, we always seem to end up at Good Oak Bar. The atmosphere is laid back. It is a great place to hang with friends in one of the big booths or at the bar. It is never too loud or too quiet. The food never dissapoints. Whether you need a burger to cure your hunger or some chips and/or pickles to snack on, the service and food has always been wonderful. Thank you Good Oak Bar.

At first I didn’t think I would like this place. They seemed too hipster for me and no cider. But… Great friendly staff. Awesome snacks. Changing selection of local beers on tap. I know this doesn’t seem like a good selling point, but they have clean bathrooms and the place is kept clean. Not very common in the Downtown area. Try one of the neat beer cocktails and fried pickles.

Being new to living downtown, I am starting to get my legs about me and explore more of the area. Good Oak Bar is a definite hit. Some of the reviews hint at pretentiousness, but I find the place to be unassuming and delightful. Dee does a fantastic job behind the bar and I have met some rather wonderful people here. I really enjoy the local selection and find myself at ease. I will continue to return.

This bar features Arizona wines & beers. How cool is that! Close to the Realto and is a pretty cool place as far as location, décor and ambiance. Service was excellent and drinks as good as any. Will I visit again — absolutely! It is on the list just needing time and a reason to be in the neighborhood and will stop back by! Highly recommended for a visit!

I have to give this place 5 stars after being so consistently awesome for the past year. This is my favorite place on Congress and my only complaint remaining that they open late but whatever I love it all the same! The food is delicious, service is fast and friendly and beer selection is small but always great. I can’t go downtown without stopping in here at least for a quick beer and some always entertaining people watching.

I live Good Oak because it represents a reprieve that characterizes living in the Sonoran Desert. Here’s why Good Oak is my favorite Tucson bar: 1. Craft: I’m drawn to establishments that develop a craft identity, where the bartenders, for example, can tell me why and how certain flavors develop during fermentation. And where the local vineyards whose products are for sale actually come in for tastings. I’m drawn to Good Oak because the bartenders seem to know and care about what *I* like and they’ve never recommended something I didn’t enjoy. Sometimes I don’t feel like just a customer here, not because the staff are friendly, but because when I go into Good Oak I almost feel like I’ve escaped consumer culture – and that’s a kind of reprieve you won’t often find(the caveat, however, is that this isn’t the cheapest joint in town). Maybe it’s the novelty of their beer presses, or the almost hidden location, but this doesn’t come together feeling like a bar in a busy downtown area. Maybe it’s that it seems like Good Oak cares as much about the alcohol as it does about the customer. It’s this atmosphere that makes it idiosyncratically cozy(really, Im just a sucker for the metal and the wood accents). 2. Discreet: Even though it’s located downtown, it isn’t swarming with Coors Light-soaked undergrads. In fact, it’s almost hidden in plain sight. I like to come here with my colleagues for relief drinking after long days at work. It can get loud, but it’s mostly pretty reasonable. 3. Arizona local: GO serves beer and wine sourced from Arizona. I love the wine selections, and though they’re not necessarily cheap($ 8−12/glass), they’re *all* excellent, locally-sourced. On a recent visit, I started with the xo coffee stout and finished with a Dragoon IPA, which left me delightfully woozy. And while you can now find Dragoon brews in a number of establishments around Tucson, and the selection of swill isn’t quite as wide as say, 1702, it’s leas about the breadth of selection than the reason for it. If you’d like drink somewhere that’s discreet and comfortably idiosyncratic, I’d highly recommend Good Oak

This bar is just the kind of place I love. Helpful bartenders, local wines/beers, interesting, never-before-seen concoctions and a chill atmosphere. We were there around 7 on a Saturday and the bar was full, but we snagged a spot at a booth. The coolest thing about this place is it’s infused beer-tails using a french press. I had the bacon-jalapeño cream ale and it was a-maz-ing. Their ‘Go Cone’(a wine cocktail served over shaved ice) with sauvignon blanc, prickly pear, basil and lemon was crazy good too. They change out their menu every so often so make sure to come down and check these out before they’re gone. I know that I’ll definitely be back to try out some new AZ beers with their flight option.
