Dark Star is the BEST place for custom leather items! Our family has been doing business with them for two generations. The belts they make are the highest quality and will last forever. We live in San Diego, CA and stop into the shop whenever we are in Tucson, AZ.

Thank you to the young men who were so helpful in helping us with a custom made belt and purse. The place has the quality and feel of yesterday, when custom pieces were the way people selected things in the USA. Too bad most people are satisfied with buying merchandise made outside the USA. The salesman named Bruce was very friendly and helpful.

I’ve come here a number of times now for leather-​related gifts for people. I’ve also got a belt for myself from here. It has lasted at least twice as long as any other belt I’ve ever had. Plus it just has classic styling that is very high quality. Being in a desert, you’d think it would eventually dry out – it has not.
In stock, there’s also jackets, trench coats, pants, wallets, handbags, basically anything you can imagine in leather. Patterned, plain, dyed, textured finishes are all represented.
To go along with the goods are plenty of accessories such as belt buckles.
The staff are incredibly friendly. And they appear to be loyal to their customers– brought my belt in years after purchase and they punched new holes in it for free (tighter holes since I lost weight).
How’s the pricing? Well, to me it seems pricey, but I have a feeling that’s because everything is high quality leather goods. And I just don’t have a standard for a store that deals in leather.
If you need a new coat or belt or handbag, and you want it made of leather, this place should not be missed. They really have very nice, high quality goods in a LOCAL shop!

I can’t believe no one has reviewed this gem!!! I love this place! If you are looking for a hand crafted belt and buckle or a beautiful leather jacket, purse, pants etc. this is the place for you. My husband and I travel from Boulder Colorado to see these folks.
Susan and Toyo are absolutely wonderful and always make us feel so at home when we are at their shop. Toyo creates all of his own designs and hand crafts the most beautiful one of a kind pieces.
I highly recommend you stop by if you are looking for truly well made leather goods.
