Eating at Chuy’s left a bad taste in my mouth. Growing Trend at QSRs For customers paying by credit card be prepared for a huge tablet screen with forced choices for tip amounts. I hate these machines and the attempt of the restaurant to manipulate customers. Don’t get me wrong, I worked as a waiter in a restaurant for years so I understand gratuity. I also understand that gratuity is customarily given for service and after the service is provided. There are no waiters at a QSR, just a cashier. Customers stand in line and order at the counter. Then customers get their own chips and salsa. Then customers clear their own tables at the end of the meal. THATISNOTSERVICE. Ambiance Sports bar crossed with biker bar crossed with taqueria. Kind of dirty overall. Loud. Lots of TVS. The Food The chip and salsa bar is unimpressive. Chips were cold and most broken in the bin, which was not refilled in the hour I was there. The salsa is poor. There are two to choose from. One is a Gringo attempt at Pico DE gallo, which tastes like a tip of stewed tomatoes with chopped onions in it. The other is a house made sauce that is better than the stewed tomatoes. We had bean burritos, veggie burritos and Mahi Mahi appetizer. Overall we agreed that the food was good but not great. The small meals for 4 cost $ 36. I do like that their beans are made without lard, so they do have some legit veggie options. Final Thoughts If I’m meeting other people at Chuys, I could find some food to eat, albeit a bit overpriced, but I have no plans to return. I would not take my family back to Chuys when there are some many other choices around.

Stopped by for friends party. The food was out!(No service at all). Chicken. Tri-tip. Rice. Beans. Actually it all tasted real good. When I did see a server they were real nice.

This is kind of one of mine and my friend’s spots. Even on a Saturday night it’s pretty much empty and we can go in and get drinks and just chill. I really like their strawberry margaritas. The bartenders seem nice and I’ve eaten food their before and it’s also pretty good. There have been times where we have gone in and been ignored even when they weren’t busy, but that hasn’t happened in a long time. We obviously like it enough to keep going back.

Horrible. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday night. Our fries had clearly been cooked and either sat under lights for hours or were possibly even reheated. When I requested tortillas that were forgotten with my meal I asked for corn and the guy immediately returned with flour. The food was awful– experience and food overall just bad. Wish I could get my money back.

I’m sure i do not understand how this Chuy’s is getting the star reviews it has. My experience at Chuy’s was extraordinarily bad. If that is possible I’m not sure; Let’s just say, It was a very scary adventure that I did not sign on for. Please … just let me order a good meal, let me pay for it and … please let me trust it will be good so I can enjoy it, and be on with my day. Sadly, an anticipated happy experience was not on the books for me this morning when I ordered what I thought would be a yummy breakfast burrito after spending all night in the emergency room. I was very hungry and the crave for some good breakfast food had seized me. I was in the grips of good hunger. I had never eaten at Chuys before but trusted that since they seem pretty popular in Tucson, they must be fairly good … so, I ordered my meal to go, with extra sour cream, and guacamole and couldn’t wait to get home. Then every thing went sour. Literally. I opened my typical styrofoam container to reveal a congealed burrito. Not willing to be daunted, I tested it to find that the food was still warm so I went in for my first mouthful. Yuck. Lets say that the meat was just a chunk of something … and it was not seasoned. It was old … and it had been frozen quick thawed and it was stale tasting, tough and otherwise tasteless. I called Chuy’s to speak with someone in charge, and spoke to the morning manager. She assured me that she had just made everything from fresh ingredients.(no, no she didn’t. It was clear and obvious) She offered an exchange and so I sent my husband in for it. When he arrived for the exchange, the staff was rude. The manager was brisk, abrupt and unapologetic. Yes, they did exchange the meal, but did I want to eat it after all that hassle? And, did I really want to risk another disappointment. ?? The answer is … NO! Needless to say, I’ll never step inside a Chuys restaurant again. It’s just not worth the hassle.

So this is the unique little restaurant. I don’t think I would have come and although they donated a dinner for two to a non-profit that I work with and I was the winner of the raffle. So the setup is a tad bit strange because you go in and you have to order at the counter and then they deliver it out you. Although they have a salsa bar that is quite good and they have a wide selection on the menu. I really did like my food the only critique that I have is the Rice needed a tad bit more seasoning. Although, I will definitely be back because the people were great the atmosphere is very unique and trendy and above all the food is pretty solid. The only other critique I have for the restaurant would be to offer real dinnerware rather than plastic. Go in and check them out there locally owned and they give back to the community what more would you want out of a business owner?

16 June 2016. I ate at a Chuy’s a week ago in a different part of town and the chicken was amazing. This chicken has no flavor and sells for a premium price. I won’t be back.

Hungry for nachos all day. Then start thinking they would go really well with a margarita… haven’t been to chuys for ages, yum! The memory was sweet! Reality not so much… salsa bar is awful and old. When asked if there was any fresh salsa available, the bartender \ busgirl said, «we make it fresh every day!» hum. Hunks of soggy store bought chips floating in the tan colored peppery fluid, bland whole tomatoes with a bit of cilantro and chopped onion in the other. The only thing to spice it up is Tabasco flavored liquid. Then came the nachos… NOT the delectable yummie overflowing beautifully layered plate of yore but a plastic paper and tinfoil-lined basket stacked with the chips from the store, topped with little cubes of tritip, some beans, diced onions and chedder… bland, without any real flavor. And what? No jalapeños? Where am I? This can’t be Tucson. They sure weren’t the nachos of my dreams… too bad. No wonder the place was pretty empty. They may have been criminals but those guys PACKED that place and could COOK! And they put tequila in the margaritas… these were just lime favored water. I fantasize about the wings, too, glad that isn’t ruined. I didn’t get any. When the bad taste wears off, I’ll live with the memories…

First off, I love Chuy’s. Its sad for me to say though that last night made me change my mind. I came in with a group of friends around 730. When it came to ordering, I believe it was the bartender who took our order. She was so rude! She made us all feel like an inconvenience to be ordering with her, when she was the one who called us over to her. She kept asking simple questions but in an annoyed tone and just not wording them the right way. Next it took about an hour for us to get our food. I always expect service to be slower here because i know thats how they are. BUTANHOUR?! Ridiculous! Eventually after we got home, one of my friends got food poisoning from the chicken salad she ordered. She will never be going back and I have to say it will be a while until I do. My other friends and I enjoyed our food, but it is unfortunate that it took an hour to get to us…

They have good deals for those wanting to get drinks, but if you come here simply for the food, be prepared for it neither being great nor bad. SImply in between. The menu added much hype to their items. Sadly, it is undersized and not as tasty. The chips and salsas and the salsa bar was disappointing. It did not have much flavor or was just too hot to taste any flavor. The prices are actually pretty good compared to its competitors. Service is also just average. On the last visit, both plates were missing something and the server tried to convince my party that they didn’t include the missing items. After going over the menu, she realized it and came back with them. The other staff did not seem too friendly which is big because happy staff equals customers staying for more food and drinks. The décor is probably the best part about this place. Very little places in Tucson has an interior like Chuys, and the signs and pictures around the place are clever and original. Years ago, this place had good food and good service. It is now just an average place.

Food was great but our cashier was not very friendly. She looked very mean and not very welcoming at all… I decided to split the bill between my boyfriend and I because I refuse for him to pay for stuff all the time. So I asked the cashier if we could do that and she gave us this mean look like we were making her job harder even more. I understand that we probably were being difficult but she didn’t have to make it so obvious and make us as a customers feel awful about it. And for these reasons, we probably will not come back to Chuys.

So disappointing. Relatively inexpensive, but you can get way better food for the same price somewhere else. I’ve ordered two different kinda of tacos from here and they were both gross. The tortillas aren’t warmed at all, the rice isn’t fully cooked, and they didn’t come with the sides mentioned in the menu. I’m giving two stars because the service is reasonable, but the food sucks.

Dive bar that is just dirty enough, just crazy decorated enough, with just enough good service to be a truly great dive bar. Had Saturday breakfast here, and everyone was already drinking. The Bloody Mary was good, not great, not spicy enough for my taste. The biscuit and gravy with eggs and toast, a «special» for $ 4.50 was comfort food at its best. Biscuits were fluffy, eggs were perfectly cooked, but it was the gravy I liked best of all. I never finish my plate when dining out, always too much food, but I ate every drop off the huge serving on a paper plate. Now don’t confuse this with fine dining. But this place gets 4 stars from me for doing what they do perfectly.

I used to love Chuy’s when I first moved to Tucson 10 years ago, although I usually went to the locations that are now closed. I feel like the quality is just not as good as it used to be. The grilled mahi tacos had almost no mahi in them, maybe an ounce of fish in each. They did, however, come with almost half a cup of cabbage in each. They used to give you two tortillas per taco, to soak up the juice. Now it’s just one, and it’s soggy. The mahi itself is delicious. It just wasn’t enough to make a meal. I like *some* cabbage, but this was like a cabbage taco with some tomatoes and the slightest hint of fish. The self-serve salsa bar was looking sad on my last visit. There was hardly any salsa in it, everything was arranged so that it was hard to reach, and it looked like it hadn’t been wiped down all day. Also, the chips were kind of stale.

My inlaws are in town and my mother-in-law wanted a good margarita. I googled best margaritas in Tucson and Chuy’s came up. I was hesitant because I’ve known people who have had negative experiences but decided that it was close and we were hungry so we would try it. Unfortunately, I personally did not have the best experience either. I ordered a margarita and the chicken fajitas. The margarita was over-poured, and the food was mediocre at best. The chicken was really really dry and the flavor was kind of off. Service was ok, probably won’t go back though.

One of my old favorites growing up on the east side, but I was highly grossed out revisiting this old stomping ground. Roaches crawling around, and dirty dining area made it hard for me to stay :(I’ve never made a bad review, but with just some extra effort from the staff this place could be and still remain one of my favs, they always have great specials, as for today I give a thumbs down.

What’s there to say about Chuy’s that hasn’t already been said? Awesome on the free chips. Average margaritas, although they’re marketed as «the best». Sweet décor. Epic charbroiled chicken. Even more epic spicey-crispy shrimp & skewers! The only reason I give this location a 4 instead of a 3 is because I love the outdoor patio seating right on a busy corner which is GREAT for hanging out for a couple of hours with a friend, drinking some margaritas and watching the sites. Chuy’s is always a no-brainer!
