Just wanted to let everyone know the restaurant seems to have shut down for good. A new restaurant has opened in it’s place(Prep and Pastry, pretty good, but nothing will be the same as Amelia Grey’s!). I believe they are still doing catering, but unfortunately no more lunch visits for their amazing food. :(

Hope you are reopening soon. I have been craving Aunt Becki’s Chicken Salad Croissant and a nice cup of tea.

I’m so glad I stopped by. Super adorable and friendly! Cranberry scones with their lemon curd was scrumptcious! How sweet to be able to choose our tea cup and plate set when we order tea. And the pot the tea comes in is generous. The crème brûlée tea aroma was intoxicating and addicted to it. The taste comforted my soul. Ahhh. Great value $ 5 for fresh out of oven choice of scone and choice pot of tea. Now, to add Roiibos and/or Puer tea to the menu. :)

We were really looking forward to trying out this place for lunch. The doors were locked, no lights on, no sign by the door and no message on the phone. It isn’t the summer, it isn’t after 4 pm, and it isn’t Monday. I drove from NW to eat here– randomly being closed and not offering an explanation to your customers is a good way to lose them.

I’m from out of town and saw an article about Amelia Grey’s restaurant in the local Tucson magazine. I checked the website for their hours and planned to eat there Saturday morning before a meeting. I was disappointment when I showed up at 8:00 Saturday morning and they were still closed. I could see someone working in the back and politely knocked a few times to inquire when they would open. I was ignored. Needless to say I will not ever try and go back. If they can’t demonstrate the professionalism and courtesy to maintain an updated website or answer their door then I will take my business elsewhere. The upside is that I drove 1 mile down the Campbell and ate at Blue Willow which had great service and home fries.

Lights off – nobody home. Not sure what’s going on – but I went to go there for lunch today with a buddy and they are closed. No sign, no explanation. I was severely disappointed.

Amelia Grey’s is adorable and was the perfect locale for the baby shower I helped host. Annette helped us select the brunch menu and kept the cost very reasonable. Our menu included a french toast casserole with hot strawberry compote, vegetarian quiche, bacon, fresh scones, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Everything was absolutely delicious. The café is closed for the summer so we had the whole place to ourselves. Annette and her staff set a gorgeous table including fresh flowers. The buffet tables were adorned with beautiful fabric and dishes. She set the couch area up for the guest of honor to open her gifts with fresh flowers and a table draped in white linen and burlap. Gorgeous! We were treated so well and the all the party guests were completely impressed and will all be coming back to Amelia Grey’s in the future!

Let’s talk catering for a second… Annette is very professional and provides delicious food; easily one of the top wedding catering options in Tucson. I recently did a wedding with her and the stuffed chicken was amazing. Cooked to perfection. If you know about cooking 100+ meals, you understand the skill needed to get the food just right. She can cater multiple sized wedding and comes with a full team of help. I have also seen her set up a HUGE dessert table, filled with loads and loads of baked goods and chocolates, which was a definite hit with the reception. Looking for a wedding caterer? Look no further.

We finally had lunch at Amelia’s yesterday and loved it! I kept forgetting about Amelia’s but had been wanting to try it since it had opened. The place is super cute as everyone else says and from the moment we walked in until we left everyone was so friendly! We ordered the quesadilla and a turkey bacon sandwich. The quesadilla came with cream cheese and cheddar, chicken, spinach and artichoke hearts and while tasty my only complaint is that the stuffing was sparse. The sandwich however came loaded! Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, cream cheese, mayo and maybe even cucumbers? Either way it was so good, served with a small side of pasta salad. We left happy and will be back soon.

We had a most delicious pot of tea and blueberry scones with all the«high tea» sides of Devonshire cream and whatnot. One of my kids requested a ham and cheese sandwich, which isn’t on the menu, but since they had the ingredients for other items that they make, they were happy to oblige. The waitress was lovely. Although, it seems to be a Tucson tradition to make your patrons wait forever to get their check so they can leave.

I absolutely hate giving Amelia Grey 2 stars because my family and I have been going since the beginning and loved it… but I have to give it a negative review because the quality of their food and their service has really taken a dive. I went about a month ago, and the food was OK; not really complaining about the food in that experience, however my order got mixed up and so was my mom’s, and our server was very forgetful of things that were needed(like utensils to eat our food). I will say our male server was super nice and accommodating, but the servers from earlier in the café’s history paid much more attention to detail. Also, we noticed that in the kitchen area, a lot of people were handling food without gloves on(cooks and servers alike), then handling papers, pencils, menus, etc without washing hands. However, this past week my parents went and I am writing this review for them. Both of my parents ordered a tortilla soup, and they told me that it wasn’t really tortilla soup(tasted more like a curry with canned nacho cheese, so they described it). Both my parents got sick from it to varying degrees(indigestion on my father’s part, straight up stomach ache/nausea on my mother’s). I used to rave about Amelia Grey’s. Loved the décor and the food. But unless it goes back to its standards, I can’t in good conscience recommend it.

I must have said this like ten times during my meal, so I’ll have to say it one more time on Unilocal: «This place is so cute!» Seriously. What a charming, cozy, cottage. The shabby chic French provincial interior is the perfect touch. I was greeted right as I walked through the door, thank you :) Since Amelia Grey’s will be going under a little face lift, ie. adding an actual stovetop and hood, rearranging their set-up, and expanding their breakfast menu, I won’t go into too much detail about the menu, since changes are underway. What you should know: They serve breakfast, lunch and also offer high tea. They bake all of their pastries in house. I had the pleasure of eating a fresh scone and chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. Both were 5-star deliciousness! The scone was served with housemade Chantilly and Devonshire crème and Jam. That scone was right up there with Raging Sage. They do use loose-leaf tea for the high tea and currently use special blends from Maya Tea. Their lunch menu is chock-full of options, so just go with your first choice, it will be fine! It should also be noted that their high tea is more casual, by choice. And the staff is willing to customize your experience, just ask! My entire experience was super pleasant from the service to the food and I’m looking forward to the exciting updates in the works.

I wanted to love Amelia Grey’s — I really wanted to… because it’s so darn charming. The ambience is really tops — it’s something you might see in Santa Monica or Greenwich Village. It’s bright and airy, modern but comfortable, really pretty. My biggest criticism is that it has a small menu(which is usually a good sign, meaning they can focus better on a concise selection) with really no gluten free selections, and no modifications were offered. The server was maybe new, but more seemed uninvested. We were told we could pick from the four salads… Just the thing a gluten-free eater wants to hear. The default meal. That said, the salad was nice. It wasn’t too big, but was satisfying and had a good presentation. I’d be happy to eat a default salad here if others wanted to, but it wouldn’t be my first suggestion.

I often came to this restaurant when it was still part of Copper Country, and one day, when we came back, we were shocked to see they were no longer a part of it! We asked a friendly employee where they went, and he kindly directed us to the current building. At first, we missed it, since it’s pretty tucked away in a corner, but we were thrilled to find it. The first time we went, we had breakfast, and it was a lovely experience! We had the tea that came with scones, and they gave us a very lovely teapot, served the scones in nice dishes, and set out the jam in another dish. They also gave us cream and sugar, and our choice of tea. The spreads for the scones they gave us were devonshire cream, lemon curd, and a kind of berry jam. The cream was good, and the jam was okay, but the lemon curd was really delicious, being sweet and juicy and tart all at the same time. At a later visit we ended up taking home a container of it. Since then, we’ve had the grilled cheese sandwiches, which are delicious with the cheese rubbed bread, and some soup. The clam chowder is pretty heavy, but really delicious as well and filling. The chai tea I got had a little too much ice, which ended up making it very watery. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the staff is very friendly, and they actually recognize us now when we walk in. The atmosphere is always really relaxing and nice in there, the treats on display are always a nice touch, and my favorite is the giant wall of teacups they have, and if you order tea, they let you have your pick! It’s still one of my favorite places to go after a long day, and the comfort food they serve is the icing on the cake.

I’ve been to Amelia Grey’s twice now, and neither time was much to write home about… I keep wanting to give it another chance though~ after all, they are still a relatively new restaurant in Tucson, and sometimes it can take a while to «iron out the kinks.» I have a feeling Amelia Grey’s will improve with time. I can suggest what to order, and also what not to order– based on my own experiences. I suggest the salads, which are fresh, fairly priced, and well portioned– with flavorful homemade dressings. I recommend that you do not order soup, unless you want a mouthful of tepid, tasteless broth. I sent two soups back; the tortilla,(which was absolutely dreadful), then the split pea,(which tasted like pure salt)! While I was trying to eat these soups, I was reminded of the scene from«The Bird Cage,» where Robin Williams is trying to pass off a terrible soup to his unsuspecting guests who try to eat it, despite it being inedible.(Thankfully, there were no naked boys in the bowls)… I finally settled on a spinach salad, which was very good, and was served with fresh strawberries, nuts, and feta cheese. The place is homey and cozy, with a high ceilinged, cottage feeling ambiance, porcelain tea pots, and happy/chatty people. The service is friendly, but too slow. Their pastries are fresh, and they also do catering. I’m still willing to give them a third try, and maybe next time I’ll go for breakfast.

Gorgeous interior. Fresh, delicious soups, salads and sandwiches. Tremendous desserts and baked goods. This is a place to go for breakfast or lunch. And if you are feeling Downton Abbey-ish, tea and scones. No matter what you try, you will enjoy your experience and leave with your stomach and soul nourished. The staff is very friendly, and service on my many visits has been quick and efficient. Certainly quick enough for a workday lunch break. The real treat? A simple chocolate chip cookie.

I want to go back on a day they are not swamped. It was good that I had a friend with me, but we waited 30 minutes before we got food to our table. I had to get up and order a muffin to help my low blood sugar. I showed up for lunch hungry. The food was nothing special the waitress said they would give kettle chips with our sandwiches, but they were more like from a bag of ruffles. And the tea was’t loose leaf as real tea places are, they just hand you a candy tin with tea bags. One thing I did like was the wall of tea cups! I will back and write and update, but for now three is all I can give.

Fabulous food and atmosphere combined with friendly staff, great teas & gourmet coffee! Their chicken tortilla soup is the best I’ve ever had anywhere… very tasty! The pesto artichoke/chicken quesadilla is amazing too… yumm! I’ve had delicious salads & sandwiches there many times but still have some more to try. The grilled cheese sandwiches are so good. The cookies are to die for!!!

I’ve been meaning to check out Amelia’s and I’m glad I did! What a beautiful restaurant, and the patio looks nice and private too. BTW-they are open for dinner now too! Since it was my first time I decided on the sandwich/soup combo, and I’m glad I did! The soup of the day-their clam chowder was yummy– a thicker version than I’m used to, but oh so good! The sandwich– the Aunt Lanell’s was good– just wish it had some kind of spread. My mom had the Sister’s grilled cheese which was yummy. My niece had the Grammies’ grilled cheese-lots of cheese with bread rubbed with cheese-oh a kid’s paradise. We looked at the fabulous display at desserts and treats, and couldn’t leave without trying some. I had a piece of the key lime cake-yes I said cake– and it was the bomb! The butter croissant was delish-even the day after with nutella. :) I will definitely be back(high tea looks fabulous!). The service and food were excellent! Whatever you get: maybe a sandwich, definitely try some soup(they let me sample the chicken tortilla– nice amount of spice-yum), but make room for a dessert or two!

I feel very luck to have this gem of a café around the corner from my house! I hadn’t heard of it but a friend of mine suggested it for a lunch meeting. He gets 2 thumbs up! I had Uncle Bill’s Roast Beef and Cheddar sandwich. It was stacked high with delicious roast beef. My friends ordered the soup and sandwich combo, both choosing the tortilla soup. Made me wish I’d order it, too! Aside from the delicious salads, sandwiches — including a nice selection of grilled cheese — there is also a ‘tea menu’. Amelia’s hosts a high tea a couple of times a month which is definitely something I want to check out. Last but not least — the desserts. Holy toledo did they look divine. If I could have taken an afternoon nap, I would have tempted myself. But, thankfully, I won’t have to go to far to sample that red velvet cake — which looked sooooo good. It’s nicely decorated, comfortable and not frilly. Bring your friends, co-workers and try them out. They’re new and THEYARELOCAL!!!
