What absolutely wonderful waves! If you’re afraid of surf, stay clear. If you’re not, enjoy.

A great Atlantic beach — great waves– spent the afternoon body surfing… Kids had a blast — you can obtain a fire permit for a beach fire in the evening.

AMAZINGBEACH! Beautiful soft sand, great waves for boogie boarding or body surfing. Dog friendly(outside of the guarded area I think). We saw some seals swimming by not too far from shore. Water was very clean(no seaweed). As you go down Head of the Meadow Rd, at the split go to the right(for the town beach) which is $ 15 instead of $ 20 at the CCNS beach.

Beautiful sand, short walk to beach. $ 15 entrance fee but you can use the ticket for the other two beaches. Good beech for kids. No concessions, and no public bathroom – nasty portapotty only.

Clean and Gorgeous beach. Seals, sandbars, dunes. Iffy bathrooms and poison ivy off the path entrance but the beauty and quietness makes up for it. No charge for parking when we went, perhaps because it was after Labor Day. Easy to get to from Provincetown.

Wind dunes and lost ships Head of the Meadow Beach is part of the 40 miles that makes up the Cape Cod National Seashore. The other beaches include Coast Guard, Nauset Light Beach, Marconi, Race Point and Herring Cove Beach. Unilocal gives the address of the beach as Barnstable but the actually location is up in Truro. These are some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole country and President John Kennedy was so impressed and amazed at these lovely beaches that in 1961 he got congress to pass a bill that protects the entire area. Head of the Meadow Beach is similar to the other beaches but doesn’t get as crowded as the more popular Coast Guard and Marconi beaches. The huge parking lot can still fill up in the summer but not quite as quickly as the others. The beach is stunningly beautiful with miles of soft sand and wind swept dunes. It’s usually windy here because the area is so exposed and the water never really warms up. Huge storms rip through this area on occasion and fierce nor’easters lash at it in the winter. In fact the winds and currents can be so treacherous that the water off the beach is a graveyard of ships. Over the centuries over 1,000 ships have been lost just in the small area between Wellfleet and Truro and in low tide you can see the remains of ships that never finished their journeys. Incredibly cool and eerie. In the summer the beach is a great place to relax, surf or swim on the great sand and water. However the area is even more impressive in the winter when you can literally walk for miles and miles along the ocean without seeing another soul. If you enjoy a walk along a beautiful beach on a cold day with a strong wind in your face, salt in your hair and endless ocean, dunes and sand, this is definitely the place to go.

The sand bar and the waves. My son and my husband enjoyed their first surfing experience here at the beach!

This beach is basically a continuation of Marconi Beach. It was my first and only time there, but I have to say I loved this beach. Main reason may be because my daughter had such a good time, so I have to say I love this place. The beach area is deep and wide just like Marconi. The best part for me and my daughter was that there are sand bars that come out of the water. So small ones can actually go and stand in the water and enjoy the waves without a parent fearing the under tow and whatnot. You can actually walk yourself out quite a distance and get deeper and enjoy a cooling wave or ride one. The sand in the sandbar areas were also very smooth in the water, so you don’t have to suffer the pain of rocks on your feet like some other beaches *see herring cove*. There are other areas that are in between the sandbars if you want to enjoy some of the more stronger waves for riding or surfing. Bathroom and rinse off area. No vending area and plenty of parking. Definitely a jewel in my book.
