One of best delis in Trumbull. The sandwiches are freshly prepared and believe me, you are not cheated on the portion size(either club roll or grinder roll). A little pricey but you get what you pay for, and the staff is always pleasant. They are now serving prepared meals to go as well. I could eat lunch here and not be hungry for dinner the food is so good.(They even sell huge bakery cookies at checkout for those with a sweet tooth like this writer.) Skip the supermarket and local Subway — this will satisfy your heartiest craving.

In search of a quick breakfast bite on a Saturday morning, my husband and I were attracted to Sapore’s breakfast sandwich offerings. We both went with the egg and cheese with our choices of meat(bacon, ham or sausage) and home fries on top. Service was pleasant and we eagerly waited in the pick up line. Though it was early, they were clearly fielding many phone orders for sandwiches(as a full service deli) and were right out straight. We felt that our sandwiches took longer than expected but there was not a person in sight who wasn’t busy. We finally heard our order called and made our way to pay, now convinced we needed a couple of the biscotti staring at us on the counter(almond joy and salted caramel!!) The biscotti seemed a bit pricey but they were huge and compared to national coffee shop chain pricing, on par. The sandwich was tasty. My only complaint/future alteration I would make is to ask for a toasted roll. They were served on bulkie rolls and wrapped in foil, the roll seemed steamed/soggy by the time we got home(about 10 mins after pick up.) Overall, well done and I would grab a sandwich there again — after calling ahead.

This place is convenient to me but definitely worth driving for too. Sandwiches are great with good ingredients and the hot bar selection is always a really good option. Only complaint(slight as it is) lies with the wait time. Small price to pay for an awesome sandwich or meal!

Oh Sapore… I ordered the Super Trooper. Pretty good sandwich. I asked for no mushrooms but a little hot pepper spread. At most places that wouldn’t have an issue. Instead, I was charged an extra $ 1 for the spread which wasn’t even hot. There was no sign or anything saying that you cannot substitute ingredients. When I asked the cashier about this, she replied with a curt«It doesn’t work like that.» Really, for the amount of spread I actually received vs. the amount of mushrooms that come on the sandwich… the mushrooms would cost more. So essentially I’m paying more for less food… Shame on you Sapore. Because of this experience, I will no longer be a returning customer. While I’m only one person, business is business, and part of business is good customer service which Sapore has failed to provide. DONOTORDERFROMHERE.

Great food! A bit pricey, but not much more expensive than anything else in Trumbull Center, and the food quality is totally worth it. It can take a while to get your food when it’s busy around lunch time, but it’s easy enough to call ahead so it’s ready when you get there.

Nice local spot, especially for those who need gluten free. However, gluten free items are very pricey($ 7 for a gf bacon, egg, an cheese!!) It also takes too long for them to make a gluten free sandwiches. They ask for 20 minutes but I have waited up to 35⁄40 minutes…

Great little place! I loved my sandwich. The owner came up to me and talked to me and he was very friendly! They accept SHU cards here. There are nice tables outside to eat at on a nice day! Great food, great people, I will definitely be coming back!

Just finished our sandwiches. We were on the road coming down from MA to LI, NY and used Unilocal to see where we should stop to grab some lunch. The chicken cutlet park hero was good. My 2 boys had sandwiches with deli meat sliced nice and thin. I don’t like when delis bunch up the meat into one area of the bread, I end up rearranging the sandwich. Generous portion, though. About a 10 min wait for all 3 sandwiches, came to almost $ 30 with a drink. More than I would’ve liked, considering I thought delis in Suffolk County were expensive, but cheaper than stopping at a diner.

This place has grown on me over time. When they first opened I was continuously disappointed, mainly at the wait-time for my order. The service was so slow that if I decided to go there I had to allocate additional time in my day so that I wouldn’t be late to wherever I was heading off to. They have a hot bar during lunch, so that is appealing. Run in and get a hot meal on the spot. But the wait just made it so that I stopped going there for a couple of years. My kids started going there after school and would tell me that, although the place was still slow, the food was really good. Fast forward to now and I have started going there more regularly. I was impressed that at some point they took the time to make there space look nice. They painted the white walls and added some decorative touches. Also, they now have a decent website so that I can look at their menu and call to place my order in advance. Also they have hired more people to be sandwich makers… very smart. As far as the food, it is typical deli. Fresh. I generally order the Magnum(roast beef, mozzarella, tomato, balsamic). Yummy. My kids love their egg sandwiches(with hot sauce). They also have good cookies if you like cookies. I like it there now.

Great sandwiches. Many options on their menu. And to make it easy you may call you order in a head so it’s ready when you arrive.

Great hidden gem, nice lunch selections of sandwiches, wraps, soups, etc. I’m sure there breakfast selection is very good. Great service, and quick, New York style, so you get your monies worth. Worth the trip and I plan to return soon.

Always great when we go. Honestly have only gotten cold sandwiches for lunch. One day I’ll try the hot bar. BUT the breakfast sandwiches are what will keep us coming back! «The Topper» which is an egg sandwich with Cheese, choice of Bacon, Sausage or Ham, topped with Home Fries. It’s an entire meal in itself! Make sure you ask for a toasted Portuguese roll. Comes with a free small coffee too, how can you go wrong!!! A lot of breads and other items from Terra Nova Bakery on Arthur Ave in the Bronx. If they every have the chicillo bread(donut shaped loaf with chunks of pancetta baked into it) GETIT. It wont last long!

Its alright. They have a lot of options but they are all kinda bland especially considering how much they are charing you. What really gives it the low rating is the super long wait. Order more then one sandwich and expect a 15 minute wait.

As many know… Trumbull has some deli’s that have no clue how to make a sandwich. Sapore’s is the only option for something pretty decent — as sandwiches go. Thumbs up!

The chicken sandwich was fantastic but the wait was excrutiating. My wife went in to get a couple of sandwiches for us to go. There were very few people in the shop yet it seemed like it took 20 minutes for her to get 2 sandwiches. I went to the bank and back and still waited 15 minutes. I would give the sandiwches 5 stars — the service 0 stars.

Not sure what the people below are talking about, this place is a real gem. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about cured meats and imported cheeses, reflecting the education he got at America’s top culinary school, the CIA. Cannolis are made to order. Sandwiches and hot entrees made with care and on the spot. I personally got the Cardinal and it was delicious. Sure it may take about 8 minutes for a sandwich, but if you can’t wait that long, then go to Subway. Try it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

Great food, best sandwiches in the area, also hot entrees served daily. I go regularly for lunch. My favorite sandwiches so far are the«Inferno» and the«Goodfella». friendly staff and decent prices. It’s to bad that the frontage of that area of Trumbull sucks because this deli is great.

I’m editing this because people seem to take personal offense to what I said in my original review. I do not feel(nor did anyone else in my party feel) I was off in the mark in anything I had said and never once swore or was rude in it, so I do not understand why others choose to do so in response. I was excited to try this place because so few good places exist in Trumbull. The review I had read on Urban Spoon made me want to go even more. I was expecting something really good, something akin to Sweet Mustard. I opted to not go with what the reviewer had suggested(a chicken parm), and maybe that was good but what we had wasn’t worth it for the price. It was during their opening and the lack of a numbering system really hurt the process. There were only about four or five customers standing around and at least four people behind the counter, yet it took over a half hour to get two sandwiches. Maybe Wan’s in Boston you expect this, but no one can match theirs. Maybe $ 8 is cheap and normal for a sandwich like this for someone coming from New York City, but I grew up in Fairfield when the Firehouse was still doing their real deli sandwiches. I’ve had those at The Corner Deli in Trumbull. I’ve had them in Boston. They are hard to find these days, but I believe they still exist. I don’t WANT to go to Subway or Quiznos instead, but if I’m getting more(albeit less quality) and even grabbing a sandwich out is a treat I’m going to spend it more wisely. I haven’t been there since opening, so I can fully imagine it is amazing now. It is still open, so they have to be doing something right. In fact, I even wished that in my original review but sadly those who chose to write me all those nasty messages seemed to have stopped reading at that part. I never want someone’s business to fail, especially as I come from two families who have always ran their own business at one point or another. This place had a lot of potential, I just had a first bad experience. I will gladly update my rating if I ever stop there again and are proven wrong. But as for our first experience there and compared to every other sandwich we’ve had in the past… my original rating stands.
