Not sure what kind of experience the other reviewers had in the Finger Lakes region but this place was only okay. The owner is nice, but there are a lot of little nagging things that make it seem like she isn’t trying very hard. For example, there’s no lighting between the parking and the entry way which is treacherous at night and their hammock is completely overrun with weeds to the point of being unusable. The rooms were nice enough but really barren and boring with none of the nice touches that other places had(like nice soaps in the bathroom or soft towels, a tv or a radio, etc). The breakfasts were small and decent, but nothing special. For the price, you can definitely stay somewhere a lot nicer, with a lot more character, and located a lot closer to places that serve food after 5pm(hard to find a place to eat dinner in that little town!). This is more like staying at a nice relative’s house than being pampered.

A perfectly lovely, artsy, quiet, calm, sweet house with a phenom brekkie and a friendly host. Easy parking, and a short walk to a funky little street of shops and cafes. I look forward to visiting again as soon as possible. The feeling I was left with upon driving away: gratefulness.

Yet another B&B from our honeymoon — this was the last stop of our week. We spent the last two days of our honeymoon in the Finger Lakes(this is about 15 – 20 minutes outside of Ithaca, and totally worth staying here instead of in town), and really enjoyed our stay here. The owners make sure to use as much local produce and other foods, so breakfast might be ginger pancakes with local peaches, or perhaps eggs with local bacon or sausage. This is a very cool house in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the small downtown — there are a handful of good restaurants, etc., so don’t worry about having something to do after you’re done hiking the falls around Ithaca. One of the best restaurants around Ithaca, the Hazelnut Kitchen, is a 5 – 10 minute walk and worth every step. The art in the B&B features many local artists, and the tiling in the bathroom(locally done as well), was really lovely and a work of art in itself. They are very focused on supporting the local farms and economy in general, and we’re big fans. The surrounding area is beautiful, fluctuating from rolling hills and farms to lakes to tall gorges from which you can see trout swimming in the pools beneath you. Some of the trails can be a bit challenging, but are totally worth it. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast with a hankering for some great food and a fun college town nearby, this is the place to stay. A fitting end to a fantastic honeymoon.
