Lucky living so close to this market. If you like sandwiches, this is the place to go! They use boards head meats and fresh breads from Truckee Sourdough. They have a deli selection, produce, wine, a great selection of beers and pretty much anything you may need (canned goods, condiments, pasta, eggs, milk etc) if you’re in a pinch or don’t want to drive into town. They also have toys for winter/​summer activities! Super friendly staff as well!

Coming to Donner Lake? Make sure you stop off here to get you weekend supplies. They have everything you need to set you up for you stay at the lake. I love what the new owners have done with the place except they no longer sell fishing licenses.
In the past getting our fishing licenses used to give us a good excuse to stop and get our groceries too, it was our summer tradition… used to be a one stop shop. Now we have to go into town and honestly we find ourselves going to Safeway since its right next to ace. Still I love this market and highly recommend it. Cool staff and much cleaner than it used to be under the old owners.

Best beer selection in Truckee… Seriously.
They have almost anything you would need in this small store. AND you don’t have to go to Safeway!

I work down the street and went in for my lunch break to buy cottage cheese and chips, upon returning to work and opening the container of cottage cheese it was completely rotten and 3 weeks expired. l tried calling the store but the line has been busy for an hour… hopefully I can exchange it after my shift for something else… please check your expiration dates especially on dairy products. Thanks.

The remodeling looks fabulous. Its always so clean and organized whenever I go in there. I love the fact that they have local breads and they sell certified humane protein. I even found dairy free bread! (Allergy)
The owner is awesome! He goes out of his way to make sure you leave with a yummy sandwich (my boyfriends obsessed with their deli sandos).
This little market is a great addition to Truckee. I can honestly say its my FAVORITE place!

This place is an awesome little market where you can pick up just about any thing! Alot of the prices are some times cheaper then the big grocery stores. My favorite things are the fantastic very fresh deli sandwiches, and when they have chili its always hot and tasty! so if you are in the Truckee area and looking for a good deli sando this is the spot!!!

Great little market, They’re doing a good job getting in organic produce and local made food and breads. For a small store, good selection. Their prices on organic food are way lower than New Moon as well, I know this isn’t saying much. Super friendly staff, have them make you a sandwich with the truckee sourdough bread, winning! If they just figure out a good breakfast sandwich I’d give them 6 stars.

I live a block away from Sticks, and I really can’t say enough about the place. The new owner, Todd, is a great, genuine guy, and his staff are all quality people, too. Fast, friendly service, and the best local shop around. 5 STARS!

I was in the store today and it was very obvious that an owner, manager or someone who cared was not on duty. A group of people came in and wanted 10 sandwiches and they were encouraged to go to the restaurant behind the store. There was another young person at the cash register who did not know how to make change when I handed him a $ 20 for a $ 10.16 purchase and then offered the .16 cents. I asked him if he knew how to make change and he closed the cash draw refused the .16 cents and said «sorry the transaction is complete». I was bewildered by his reaction and asked why he would not take the .16 cents and give me a $ 10 bill rather than a handful of change and save his $ 1 bills. He had no answer and when I asked if he knew how to make change he said «Ok, if that is what you want to hear». It is a shame when a small business has employees who don’t know what they are doing or don’t care. Within a span of 15 minutes 2 employees left 11 people wondering why they came into this store. How many other people left this store with the same reaction on Saturday? I’m sure the owners will never know until they are out of business.

What a nice change from the old place — the new owners have really turned this into a wonderful little market!
It is spotless, fully stocked with virtually anything one could need (organic vegetables, pasta, sauces, toiletries, bread, snacks, dairy, and a huge beer selection). There is also a great deli counter where they make sandwiches and espressos.
The only weaknesses: Proteins are limited to packaged frozen burgers & similar (albeit very high quality). Also, the wine selection is pretty limited and is mostly comprised of low end options.

This is the new market which took the spot of the old Donner Pines Market. It’s the same building and everything, just remodeled with nicely stained wood and a new sign out front, and what I think is a nice new overhaul inside. It’s very well stocked for a small place on the lake. They’ve got a nice small but adequate selection of fresh fruits and veggies and a killer liquor wall. It’s like a real liquor store! Also, all the little incidentals that you may have forgotten if you’re doing a day on the lake… sunscreen, toys, fishing stuff. It’s a good spot.
