My husband and I sat at the bar and they gave us some salsa, we found a hair, ok things happen. Don’t want anymore salsa. We then ordered chicken wings. We thought we found a hair in the sauce. Good news from the bartender, no it was plastic. Will pass on going back there. Great Mexican restaurant down the street.

We gone to La Bamba for over 10 years. It’s good service and good food, you’ll be full when you leave.

We eat here in Truckee often, the food is very consistently good, and when Truckee is mobbed with tourists and part-time residents, they somehow manage to deal with the crowds and get people in and out. Anyone that has been in town over MLK weekend or the July 4th holiday know what I’m talking about. Try the mole, we literally applauded the cooks on our last time in!

THISPLACEISAWESOME. Sooo authentic and such nice people who run the place and work there. We had to wait like 45min for a table which was unfortunate, BUT it was the week between Christmas and New Years aka by far the busiest weekend in Tahoe. I doubt you would have this problem on other nights. Everything is great that we had. Pretty large portions too… Free unlimited chips and salsa for the table is nice and it’s totally something you would never see at an NYC restaurant. It was decorated really nicely for the holidays too — nice touch! Will 100% be back.

I love this place and come here every time with visit. I ordered the #32 that included a tamale, enchilada and taco. My wife ordered Carne Asada and our son ordered a bean & cheese burrito. We all loved it. My wife and I also ordered a pitcher of Margaritas with a more expensive tequila that help deal with the 12 degree weather outside. I highly recommend it along with the deep fried ice cream. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t that our appetizer chips tasted like they came out of a gigantic Costco bag.

Very Mediocre Mexican food. You want to eat it because you’re hungry and nothing tastes better than Mexican food after a long day of skiing. The drinks are solid — good selection of Mexican beers and really good margaritas will get you started right. The food is pretty bland though — the burritos and tacos are average. Not a lot of spice or sides to go with it. They are smothered In sauces with lots of refried beans, dry rice melted cheese and bland sides. It’s sad because it could be so much better. The service is pretty spotty too– we had to ask several times for drinks and water and they never brought any of our side dishes. You can do better than this in Tahoe, so if you find a decent Mexican place in Truckee please let me know.

We have been to La Bamba many times and have never been disappointed. It is a great place to go for Mexican food and margaritas. You can get pitchers of margaritas in most of the popular flavors and with premium tequilas. They do not skimp on the alcohol, so give it a bit before you order that second pitcher. You may be surprised how hard they hit you. Everything we have ordered has been very good. The last time I tried the carne asada, which came as a large flattened steak but was very tender. I just sliced it myself and added it to the tortillas with the goodies. Excellent! The service is good, but it can get very busy since this place is very popular. All in all, if you are looking for good Mexican food in the Tahoe/Truckee area you really can’t go wrong with La Bamba.

This is a great place, super nice people, very attentive! It was very clean, which is important to me. We arrived around 4:30 for a cold beer and were not disappointed-had a beer and some chips and salsa — we will definitely be back!

Very good Mexican food in a casual atmosphere. Came here around 8 on a Friday night and it was not very crowded. Margarita was tasty and the price of the food is reasonable. Recommended for a nice, casual meal.

I only came here for a few margaritas with chips and pico de gallo The margaritas were ok — made with a bottled mix instead of fresh lime juice. The chips were perfect but the pico de gallo was mostly juice.

We go here almost every week. It’s kids friendly. The staff is so sweet and the food is great! Margeritas could be a little stronger but still our favorite place.

I’d don’t care what the negative reviews say — this place has great food, excellent service and is super reasonable. 2 of us shared the #30: burrito, chili rellano and enchilada. The plate was enormous. The food was delicious. The refried beans exceptional. It was only $ 12.95. With a Corona, we left there, including tip, $ 22. And, we are both stuffed and satisfied. Give this place a try. For après ski, it will satisfactorily fill your gullet.

Went here for some good Mexican food via recommendation from a friend who lives in town. Can’t go wrong with this place! There’s just something about the old outdated furniture and the atmosphere about this place that was very pleasing. The staff was friendly and the food was great! I ordered a chimichanga with shredded chicken. It was perfect. If you’re in the mood for some great Mexican food. Don’t pass this place up!

Best Mexican In Tahoe. Came here on my Birthday with friends during a big snow storm. The staff was a lot of fun and treated us like kings. The fajitas/margs were great, filled us up and we were all very satisfied with the experience. La Bamba!

Average Mexican food. Good for Tahoe! Service is super friendly but they are understaffed. I asked for a side of guac about 4 times and never ever got it They do make a mean margarita though! YUHUMMM

Worst Mexican I’ve ever had. I’m not exaggerating when I say that. My wife and sister in law were along and agreed with me completely. We were up around Tahoe for a President’s Day get away back in February. My SIL lives in Toronto so was craving Mexican. We came across this place and decided why not… Big mistake. We were put on notice when the chips and salsa came out. The tomatoes in the salsa had that gelatinous texture that makes it clear they have spent a good portion of their lives in a can. Aside from gelatinous tomatoes the salsa itself was flat and flavorless. The second sign of a problem was when the«avocado» dressing on SIL’s salad was revealed to be mayonnaise with some greenish color to give the illusion of avocado. While those two issues would have been forgivable, the heaping piles of flavorless fried tortillas, beans, rice, and pollo that followed were consistently disappointing. It takes a lot to make me dislike Mexican food. The one positive thing you can say about the food at this place is that the portions are generous but with food of this poor quality that’s not necessarily a positive. I’ll give the wait staff credit too since they were pleasant; it’s hard for me to give a 1 star review when I haven’t been personally offended by the staff but this food was really just that bad. Our hosts at the B&B told us afterwards that the Taco Depot next door is actually quite good. I can’t testify to that but I can say with confidence that whatever they are serving has to be superior to the food at La Bamba.

La Bamba has the perfect blend of beans and rice along with that burrito. Don’t expect to leave here hungry, because it’s enough to feed you for days. Perfect for after a ski day. Yum. The fajitas wee delicious. Not a bit fan of the burritos here as they are served wet– so it’s a forka knife type situation
