Bassett Flooring Inc. – Abbey Carpet of Truckee

Only now did I realize a review I entered some time ago was filed under another listing for this same business (I entered under Abbey Carpet, same location). Just want to be sure that they have this feather in their cap, so repeating what appears under Abbey Carpet…:
After going through the quotation process with three local vendors (all of whom came to measure and inspect the areas to be carpeted), Bassett impressed us with the thoroughness of their quotation and consideration of the job to be done. They did not disappoint.
Bassett worked with us to find the right carpet that met our budget and high traffic application. On the scheduled day of installation, their team arrived on time and really knew their stuff. They cleared out furniture faster and more efficiently than we could have ever done and were extremely considerate of the «inconvenience» they might cause us during the multiple-​day install (the entire 2-​storey house). The team specifically tailored the furniture move and installation plan so we’d have finished places to sleep each night. That was a nice surprise and courtesy we hadn’t expected.
Without exception, everyone we encountered at Bassett was courteous, professional, efficient, and helpful. Their quotation was clear and carefully considered – quite unlike what we found elsewhere – and they were great about anwering our questions, providing recommendations, and understanding our concerns. Finally, the installation was well-​planned and ended up looking great.
Without reservation we’d recommend Bassett to anyone.

The quality and service of Bassett Flooring AKA Abbey Carpets in Truckee is unmatched. We had wood flooring installed, existing wood flooring refinished and the rest of our home carpeted. The selection of carpeting is awesome, especially if you don’t want your home to look «big box store generic». The installation also excellent. And, the pricing fair and reasonable. In fact, I brought in a carpet sample from a big box store (BBS) and Bassett had the exact same carpeting. The BBS offered free installation but, surprisingly, the price per square foot with padding and installation from Bassett was identical to the BBS. I would recommend Bassett Flooring to anyone and everyone in the Truckee, North Tahoe area. You can’t go wrong!!!

I’m sorry but when someone gets an email that says «Unfortunately, we will not be bidding this project» and that’s it with no further explanation on why until you call in to their office, it really makes you think twice about doing future business with Tyler and his team.
In the past they did a good job on my downstairs bedroom so I figure I’d ask them to do my stairs a year later. They came over, measured and I didn’t hear from them for a couple weeks. Then I get a call from someone asking for my email address. I gave it out and shortly after that I get an email that said, «Unfortunately, we will not be bidding this project». NO explanation. Just that they’re not going to bid on it. All I wanted was wood paneling installed where the carpet used to be.
So basically two weeks of my time was wasted. They already took measurements. And then sent me what I see is an unprofessional email. Then I had to call in and Tyler picks up and when I asked why won’t they bid on it, at first it seemed like he didn’t want to answer. Finally he said he had a reversal reaction to the rug to my pets. Well no one else who came over ever had that issue. And those who are allergic would tell me in the first place. If you don’t want to do it, just tell me either via phone call or in the email. ONLY saying, «Unfortunately, we will not be bidding this project» and leaving it at that and also not telling me and or making up stories to get out of a job is very unprofessional.
Now I had no choice but to go to a competitor who will be completing the work. I’m sorry but a vague email with little to no explanation on why the work won’t be done and making me call the business to find out what they meant in the email and to hear a story about a «reverse reaction» to pets or something makes me wonder and makes me think that they were being unprofessional.
Tyler you knew I had a cat and dog. If you were allergic or had some kind of condition you should’ve said something in the first place. Or said that one of your employees might have an issue. Now it’s just wasted time. I’m sorry, but what I thought was going to be a great home improvement relationship now has ended. I will now have someone else finish my stairs, master bedroom, other downstairs bedroom and my closets.
