Really disappointed with the quality of their breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a BEC and there’s was BARELY any egg on it. It was all bread. When you’re paying $ 6.00 for a breakfast sandwich, there should be more than one egg white. I also waited over 20 minutes to get my food. I ordered a cappuccino and it wasn’t that great. Very plain and no cinnamon. Overall unemployable.

The atmosphere was kinda cool been here a few times and the staff was always good. I had a cupcake with chocolate buttercream and an espresso bean on top with coffee. The cupcake was a bit dry but still edible. Good place to chill, get work done, etc

They really must have gone out of their way to make the interior design so tacky here. The furniture is a mix of patio sets and threadbare couches. Chipping paint on the walls and menu boards that were drawn sometime sometime in the mid nineties. The employees like to sing loudly and yell their conversations, which is not really ideal where people come to read and study. Fortunately, there are way better coffee shops nearby with better coffee for a cheaper price. Onwards and upwards Troy.

I love The Daily Grind. Excellent sandwiches. Love the spicy tuna on whole wheat. Coffee is Green Mountain, which is fine but not great. But the prices are much better then Star bucks. Seating is comfortable and conducive for conversation and reading. Plus there is free wifi which allows me to work. It is a good place for lunch and if you want a quick inexpensive breakfast… this is the place.

Great staff. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. They remember your gave after one time in. Only downside is parking. That has to do with the city, not the establishment. Recommended highly.

Great Wifi, lovely beer, ok sandwiches but the coffee arrives cold. They need to work on their milk steaming technique.

It’s nice to support locally owned and operated businesses. It’s even nicer when those businesses deserve your business. I first tried this place because of some certificates. The portions are great and the service was friendly. A few weeks later Amazon offered a great local deal on any non-alcoholic beverages $ 5 and under. $ 5 gets you a LOT of coffee and The Daily Grind has one of the biggest to go cups I’ve ever seen. Forget the trenta at starbucks, Daily Grind has quart sized containers for iced coffee on the go. Perfect for summer. The food itself is pretty standard diner fare. I always get breakfast food. The corned beef hash they make on site is great. The eggs are eggs, the potatoes are potatoes. The parfait is good, not great. With most of the food what they lack in a little something extra special they make up for in quantity. I am an eater and this place always fills me up. The staff has been friendly on every one of my visits. The most recent the staff went above and beyond. I didn’t get the staff members name but a tall, skinny, red headed guy went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and everyone was well taken care of. He is the sole reason my review went from the 3 stars of a place with average food and coffee at large portions to 4 stars, above the standard you get in this area.

Absolutely love the breakfast sandwiches and coffee here. I just went in about an hour ago and the two girls working could not have been more apologetic about a small misunderstanding with my order, you really can’t find customer service like that anymore. Apparently there’s an open mic night on Thursdays here as well if you’re into that sort of thing.

Pretty good eggs, sausage, and toast. Cappuccino is authentic but on the mild side. I got the impression that they pay attention to the ingredients. The hash browned potatoes were very good, too good really! Nice atmosphere and Wi-Fi enabled.

This is such a wonderful little café. The food isn’t too bad and I really love that they offer student discount. If only they offered military discount. :D The ambiance is pretty laid back and casual. It’s a perfect spot for college students to hang out. Breakfast menu isn’t too bad as far as options go, but I think it’s a bit pricey for the portion size. The food isn’t too bland and I feel like they offer a variety of healthy choices compared to a fast food restaurant. So I really liked that they prepare everything FRESH.

Great atmosphere. The sandwiches are great. Too bad they open at 8 and not earlier. If you need early breakfast it’s not the place and that’s too bad. For lunch, though I would strongly recommend.

I had the afternoon exhaustion set in while driving thru Troy. I stopped by the daily grind and had a great double espresso. Really hit the spot! Friendly, clean, and great shot of caffeine! Nice assortment of food and espresso based drinks.

Love it! I like to come to this place solo to get some writing done while eating a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Breakfast served all day! Also great for dates. They offer alcoholic beverages. However, it closes pretty early(5 or 6) on weekdays(except Thursday, when they have open mic night and they’re open until 10 or 11). They make their own corned beef hash and it’s AMAZING! They also offer baked goods, smoothies, and basically any beverage you could think of. They have table service, but they also have a section in the front with no table service if you don’t want to be bothered. The staff is always very friendly.

Drip with a medium roast blend, the staff couldn’t tell me too much about the beans, so Coffee Snob gives the brew a downmark but still a favorable nod. Layabout Dude liked the seats in the front, the seats in the back weren’t quite the relaxation coffee house so much as classy café, but he liked the chess set and the piano(allegedly playable by customers, but I got a few blank looks when attempting to do so).(Oddity: it’s counter service if you want to sit up front, but table service in back. Could not figure out the algorithm.) Hungry Guy liked the veggie breakfast sandwich, but wasn’t writing home about it. Cheap Man was pleased by not spending too much money all things considered, while Unilocalist Maximus enjoyed the check-in offer of a free small to go. Annoying Reviewer gives it a warm four stars but largely on combined karma over actual coffee experience. Caffeine Addict just gives it four stars for being there at the right time.

I had a really, really good coffee here. For a bohemian looking place, it is not that cheap. I was not interested in any of the food on the menu — which quite honestly did not appeal to me at all. And I was about to start grumbling to myself about what I paid for a small coffee. Then I took a sip — and this coffee was excellent and quite distinctive. I’m pretty much a coffee snob. But when it comes down to it, usually there are deeper things one devotes their memory cells to in life than coffee. However I remember this coffee! Going to stop back in and get some beans.

I purchased two of the $ 5 for $ 10 deals. The employees didn’t seem to know what to make of them. They were patient and polite about it but said if we didn’t use the full amount in one transaction we were basically SOL. I noticed the manager/owner was present during these decisions. So we got to use $ 15 and that was that. I believe there may have been a new cook working, and after working in bars and restaurants for 15 years I am sympathetic to this. However, my sandwich had some kind of plastic(perhaps from a prep baggy?) in it and I only noticed because I had to reassemble my sandwich after un-lumping the ingredients from the center of the bread. I would say they do coffee great.

I honestly don’t understand how this place stays in business. I went to the counter and ask for coffee in a mug instead of a to-go cup. Barista advised that they provide table service. Keep in mind this was had sat down for 10+ minutes and had yet to be offered anything resembling service. Free refills on coffee are great, but again, plan on getting up and waiting in line to get it yourself. Food is all made to order and fresh, and in general is worth the wait. Overall, an establishment billing itself as a coffee shop and having ‘Grind’ in the name should focus just a tiny bit on the coffee service part of the business. I don’t expect 4 hours of endless refills, but how about bothering to walk through the shop more than once an hour to see if anyone wants to buy more product?

It’s mainly a coffee house but they have some food and more importantly smoothies. If its a hot day the best way to cool off is with a smoothie. I think they just use ice and some mix but it tasted good!

Nice big place, good for working on a computer like I had to the other day. They have free wifi and tables in the back. The staff were super friendly, happy to answer questions. And the burger was great! Very flavorful and very juicy. Also, very surprising for a coffee shop.

I absolutely adore this place which is really hard for me to say because I’m a Starbucks girl at heart. This place offers you great coffee and so much more. I absolutely love the atmosphere the comfy couches and the out door seating is perfect. The drinks are amazing I’ve had a hot lattes, iced coffee and smoothies and they were all to perfection. The Creamcicle smoothie is out of this world! yum! Warning though when it says its banana flavored they are not kidding, so while I appreciated the perfection of flavor in their coffees be warned that they are strong flavors. I’ve heard a lot about their breakfast foods so I went by this morning and got a veggie egg sandwich that was absolutely delicious. Just what I wanted and for a really reasonable price and clearly fresh and good products. AND if you are staying there they bring the food to you! how awesome! I’d definitely recommend stopping in on your way around troy for some great quality local coffee.
