Based on review dated 2÷15÷16(just a few days ago) I went to this place. There is a sign on the door saying«closed for remodeling». The sign says try back in a few months. I would suggest calling ahead before heading to this place.

Just sit and the sushi bar and order the Omakase. Everything we tasted here was great. The chef was super friendly and you could tell he took a lot of pride in everything he was doing. The server here was great and constantly checked our drinks without being intrusive. Be warned, almost all their entrée come with a soup or salad, which we didn’t realize so we had a double order of everything which just ended up being way too much food. It seems like they’re either working on or in the process of updating their menu. A lot of stuff was either crossed off or white out. The ramen here was great, katsudon okay, the sushi here was the standout.

I’m pretty sure I left a review for this place before but maybe not. I am a huge fan of this place. I almost always order the katsu curry when we eat here and am never disappointed. Sometimes I get chicken katsu and other times I get pork katsu. The meat is always fried perfectly and never tough. The curry is filled with lots of veggies and bits of beef. I want to try the whole fried fish next time I’m here and the hot pot. The hwe dup bap is also delicious and the portion is very large, but I can finish it all!

Still Awesome. There is an asian market right next store, hence why everything is so fresh. This time we just went straight sushi and of course it was great. The yellow tail is absolutely amazing. So tender and fresh. The ginger dressing on the salad is even fresh. Love this place. Only sushi pace I will go to from now on.

I’m not sure where to begin. This place is perfect. First time I’ve ever had perfectly delicious cold soba noodles in cold broth while in Michigan. The amount of rice and the way it is cooked for the sushi couldn’t be more perfect. All of their fish is grade A(it seems). Something about the way they prepare their eel is just better than most places I’ve been. I love it here. I wish I could give it 6 stars.

That was the best grilled mackerel I’ve ever had. I will come back and try it again soon. My girl1 also loved her udon soup. Girl2 ordered spicy California and Philadelphia. She also enjoyed it. Back to the mackerel, it was perfectly grilled with ginger and pickles to complement.

This is one of my favorite places to get sushi and Tako Yaki! Formally known as Tomo, it’s never been a let down. As of now, with the new Sushi Chef, it’s only better! They are always polite and courteous, even during busy waves. Their sushi always tastes fresh and their plating is always pleasing to look at! My favorite is their Tako Yaki. It’s hot and steamy when you get it and it always tastes delicious!!!

I came in for lunch today. Generally, the service has always been slow every time I visit them. Food is mediocre, nothing to write home about. It wasn’t my choice to eat here, but my sister wanted to have Japanese food. There was a total of 6 of us. Every time we tried to order, the waitresses avoided our table. It took over 30 minutes of waiting before someone finally attended to my group. We all placed our orders and waited for our food. Four of the entrées came out together, then another one came out 10 minutes later. Alas, where was mine? Not one of the many workers that passed our table bothered to ask if we had received everything. We finally catch a different waitress ‘s attention and she asks our waitress about the situation. The waitress comes back to claim that she did not hear my order and did not write it down. I was the 2nd person of six to order. My whole group heard me place my order and they heard her repeat it back to us. We were flabbergasted. Worst service any of us have ever seen. I lost my appetite waiting for nothing to arrive. It’s a shame my first review is a complaint. If you have to eat here, I would advise getting a server that is more competent. She never did tell us her name, but the receipt said Jennifer.

Haru Sushi — Troy, MI I went to Haru on a cold Fall Friday afternoon in October for lunch with one thing on my mind: a hot bowl of Ramen. It must have been around 12:30pm or so. The place was pretty busy with the lunch crowd but I had no trouble finding a seat at the sushi bar. A quick glance at the menu and I knew immediately I had to have the spicy seafood ramen. I ordered that and the spicy tuna roll. The ramen came out first in an ENORMOUS bowl. It was priced at $ 9, so I should have expected a large portion, but I was expecting a regular sized soup bowl, and was really surprised when I saw this. It looked like a family-style serving bowl. Something that would easily feed 4 or 5 people. Regardless, it smelled delicious, was steaming hot, and filled with rich red broth, noodles, clams, shrimp, and a hard boiled egg. I got right into it. This was my first time having spicy ramen. It is now one of my favorites. It was so good, had so much flavor, and just the right amount of spiciness, not overpowering but complimenting the flavor. While eating the ramen I forgot that I had ordered a sushi roll until it arrived. There was no way I was going to finish the soup plus a roll. I tried the spicy tuna roll. It was delicious as well. The fish tasted fresh, it was good, it really was, but the stand out, at least for me, was the ramen. I will definitely be back to give the sushi a fair shot. But today was all about the ramen. #sorrynotsorry As a side note, there was so much ramen leftover that it filled up three take-out containers… THREE. In conclusion, I definitely recommend Haru. Go there, get the ramen, share it with somebody(or don’t), let me know what you think.

Big portions, OK food quality. The Spicy Seafood Ramen was a little disappointing. The broth was good, but the problem was the noodles. They were bland, and for some reason couldn’t seem to soak up the broth, so each slurp was just bland noodles. The redeeming aspect was the varied and copious amount of seafood in the dish: mussels, scallops, octopus, shrimp. The sushi was given in large quantities and looked good enough, but the flavor was lacking. The search for good sushi in Michigan continues… I have a feeling the best we’ll have to settle with is Noble Fish.

They have a nice menu with a great variety of options. Tried and enjoyed several sushi rolls. The dragon roll is good. Also tried salmon skin, shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura roll. Our least favorite was their California roll. My daughter tried an udon noodle bowl and absolutely loved it! The ramen bowl with tonkatsu is very good too. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We came early like 5ish so really empty. No wait. Food is huge portions. Be warned. We ordered so much food! Came in skinny and left looking like I’m 6 months pregnant! We had the fried chicken, edamame, sashimi for appetizers. Really fresh tasting sashimi! Loved all the apps. Then came out spicy seafood ramen, hamachi kana and spicy tuna roll. Wow! Way too much food! I shared my ramen and still couldn’t finish it. The hamachi was really tender and yummy! Actually I liked all the food we had. So why not 5 stars? Well… I was dying of thirst as our server never came back to refill my tea. One cup the whole 2 hours we were there until I flag her down for a refill. Can you imagine eating all the spicy salty food without a drink?! Anyways, I’d come back but maybe order all my drinks right away so I won’t go thirsty.

2 words. Takoyaki Okonomiyaki. They serve this here!!! Say what?! I know. That was my reaction too. I can’t believe this place was sitting right under my nose all along since I do frequent H Mart and this restaurant is right next door. My fellow Californian foodie friends caught wind of this place and we came here specifically to get the above 2 items. From looking at the outside, the restaurant is way more spacious than one would expect. Walking in, we were welcomed right away by the 2 sushi chefs and the décor was nice and modern. They’re doing a lot of remodeling in this plaza so I half expected it to look grungy inside also but it was nothing of the sort. Menu was extensive. From udon to sushi rolls, a variety of chirashi bowls, ramen, dons, they had pretty much everything someone craving Japanese food could desire. I was craving rice so I ordered the ten don(don meaning rice bowl) which is basically tempura and rice drenched in a sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The sauce had more of a soy sauce taste than I’m used to but was still good. My don came with a iceberg lettuce salad with this very yummy citrusy ginger salad dressing and a generous bowl of udon. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The udon broth was a little fishy however. Maybe they overdid it on the dashi. I’m Asian though so it wasn’t too bad and my palate actually got used to it but I’m definitely used to a lighter and more subtle flavored udon broth. Could be just an off night for the udon though. Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki were also very good. Not the best I’ve ever had but then again I compare it to what I’ve had in Japan so that’s not a fair battle. They were more than suitable substitutes so kudos to Haru. The takoyaki were made fresh and came out piping hot. Give them a minute before you gobble them up because you could potentially burn your mouth. Okonomiyaki was also flavorful and hit the spot. My friend was not a fan of bonito flakes and just a warning they really sprinkle that stuff on! I didn’t have a chance to try the sashimi and the chirashi bowls were calling my name. Will be back for sure.

The SO and I were craving something different, so we decided to visit Haru for the first time yesterday evening. I was really impressed! The location is certainly tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, so it’s easy to miss. The interior is very clean, the décor is pleasing, and the servers were attentive and cheerful. We decided to order the three roll special which came with a salad and soup. The salad was pretty large and the ginger dressing was tasty. The soup was definitely a standout. Super thick noodles perfect for slurping with scallions and radish. The broth was PERFECT. We always have tamago(egg) at every sushi/noodle place we go to, and Haru was very generous. The egg was sweet and there was certainly a lot of it. The rolls were sushi, salmon, and California. The rice was cooked nicely, and the slices of the fish were a little small, but I thought they seemed like they were of good quality. Considering the final tab was $ 20 without tip($ 15 for the roll combo with soup, $ 5 for the 2 tamago) and we left feeling very full and very satisfied, I would absolutely visit again. I was so tempted to purchase the fried whole snapper, but I can’t get over how terrifying it looks. Next time we go, I’ll definitely try another soup and likely stick to specialty rolls. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Now I can say with confidence that I’ve found my favorite sushi place in Oakland County. My previous favorites were by default and usually followed with a «but» or «well,» when recommending to others, but this place is legitimate. The sashimi is hands down the freshest I’ve had in Michigan, although still not quite like what I’ve had in Vancouver. The rolls are inventive and creative, and well, we’ve been here every week for four weeks. The best part is the rolls are huge! I always have leftovers, usually ordering one of the fancier rolls(you will not be disappointed by the Amazing Roll, $ 11) and one of the simpler ones. The spicy tuna($ 5.50) is actually spicy. The chef’s sashimi platter for $ 24 includes an assortment of 14 pieces(again, each piece is quite big; Haru’s one piece of salmon or tuna would be another spot’s two) with udon noodles and rice(the extra rice really is not necessary though). All the combo rolls come with udon, and the menu also includes Japanese and Korean dishes, although I haven’t had anything beyond sushi, udon and appetizers so can’t speak for those. My mom only gets the sashimi salad($ 15), and the size of the bowl is outrageous. An infant could lie in the bowl comfortably. It’s FILLED with tuna and salmon and veggies and bright salad greens(re: not iceberg). And you’re supposed to add rice to it. Madness. Midweek isn’t particularly busy. For Fridays, try to get there before 7:30 because it gets packed, and there’s a bit of a wait. Also, getting all the sushi is slow during busier times since it’s only two men making it all. Everyone is also very friendly: They greet you enthusiastically on the way in as they do on the way out.

Still comes through on my credit card as Tomo, not sure if they needed to shed the name due to reputation or what but so far so good. Only thing that was a bit annoying was the ‘Gyoza’ is actually vegetable gyoza. Been to a lot of such restaurants and by default Gyoza typically has pork and and Vegetable Gyoza is listed as such. Whole fried fish did not disappoint.

Amazing experience! A little upset that Tomo closed but this new place is definitely worth it! They still serve Korean food although they do not have Korean bbq anymore. But! Shabu shabu has arrived, and that is a must try on my list when I stop by again. Great service for a great price, what more is there to ask for? After renovation, the place does not look much different from previously before. Chirashi is amazing!

I love the new update to this place. Always my go to place for udon & ramen! Big portions! Try the yakataki appetizer, go good! And good amount of seafood inside, always coming pretty hot and fresh. I like the tempura udon also, big portion. Comes w the udon and a big side of fried veggies & shrimp. Totally worth the money, just can never finish it. They also have udon & side dish(sushi, rice) usually a good portion also, if u wanted udon and sushi, its a good price. As for ramen, the miso ramen & pork ramen is probably my bf favorite. And its not oily either, some of the ramen bowls are huge also! But he does wish there were more pork in the pork ramen haha. Also try their side menu of fish, octopus & ect. Very fresh and excellent. They also offer shabu shabu, but u have to order 2 or more items. Kinda sad since it gets costly for just one person or even 2. Wish we were able to order just one oder. I think the sushi is ok, sometimes its hit miss, but the rolls are food size and many varieties.

I’m an instant fan of this place. First, and foremost, I can ride my bike here. I was skeptical of the location, but even my favorite Trizest is in a plaza and it’s not about the digs, it’s about the food, amirite? Ok, let’s get to the business. The menu is huge. It’s one of those places in which you will have to go to multiple times in order to really understand its true goodness. First, up was a simple salad. The house salad was $ 2 bucks so I thought, «why not?» It was good. For two bucks, it was nice and refreshing. Nothing terribly original about the salad, but the dressing was good and since I am a fan of ginger dressing it was a nice start. I ordered gyoza… because who doesn’t love fried pork deliciousness wrapped up in a nice little bite sized chunk? Yeah. Silly question. Everyone does. This is standard, but really, I just love gyoza so I order it all. the. time. It was good. No complaints. Next, I ordered a pork miso ramen. I was a little bummed that they didn’t have a chicken miso ramen because that’s what I was more in the mood for, but it was still good. The ramen came out hot and savory. It was freakin’ huge as ramen usually is. Definitely share this with someone. It wasn’t spicy so I asked for their array of hot sauce and spices. When it was all mixed together it was a lovely little soup that I will continue to eat tomorrow… and possibly the next day… Honestly, the showstoppers here was the sushi roll and the fish. The sushi roll was the firecracker. It was shrimp tempura, crab salad, avocado, spicy mayo and some other deliciousness. It was tough to pick out a sushi roll because they all sounded fantastic. Let me tell you… I was not disappointed at all. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious and fresh it was. I already know I will be coming back to get the volcano roll. With all that food one would think there couldn’t be enough room to possibly get more, right? Wrong. A red snapper, whole fried fish was delivered to the table. Now, it’s apparently an appetizer, but let’s be honest here… it’s a meal. I expected a little baby fish and what I got was a huge red snapper that was purchased fresh from the market just for me! The manager said that any time this is ordered they go to the H Mart(Asian market) next door and buy one fresh. That makes so much sense and is completely economical for them. It’s probably the most perfect spot for an Asian restaurant to be next to an Asian mart. The fish was really quite good. It seems weird to Americans to eat a whole huge fried fish because it’s scary. What do you do? How do you eat it? Well, you just dive right in and eat the fish… just like all the other fish you’ve ever eaten except this is much better and comes sitting in a bed of delicious sweet and sour type sauce with vegetables. This fish is also posted in another person’s post. Get this fish. Don’t think about it. Just get it. Sy Thai used to have this on their menu, but since no one ordered it they stopped. What a shame. Now, Haru has it and you need to get it. Ask the waitress how to eat it. Don’t be scurrrrrred. The overall experience AND food was excellent. The waitress explained several dishes, talked with us about the change from Tomo to Haru and was an excellent server in general. The food couldn’t have been better. I really want these guys to do well. They are a nice mix of fusion and traditional. If they keep up their quality service and food I think they are going to do just fine in Troy. :)

I was really excited to try this place as there are limited authentic Japanese options here(aside from sushi) short of going to Novi and Canton. Noble Fish is my generally go to sushi place, but after trying Haru, I think Noble has met its match! I was surprised that the menu was so extensive, and I am excited to come back and try more dishes. I got the chirashi lunch special which was delicious; the fish was super fresh and beautifully presented. I got takeout today so I cannot comment on the service, but everyone sure was friendly. I was greeted by the sushi chef and waitresses when I came to the door and also when I left. I will definitely be back!
